  1. What a beautiful video of your boy - I'm so sorry for your loss.
  2. Floyd is beautiful - I hope all goes well on Sunday - Good Luck. My girl Shab is all on her own now and both her and I are missing Crump terribly. If I could find another dog to fit us perfectly I would be over the moon but the right one just isn't out there at the moment.
  3. I thought we would have at least a little more time my darling girl but it just wasn't to be. Sitting here second guessing my decision to say goodbye but you deserved better than that. After all the things you went through in your whole life this just doesn't seem fair. What a beautiful adventure it was to share with you, just not long enough but then it would never be long enough. You filled the house with so much personality and attitude from the day I picked you up and I would do anything to have you here with me still, making me laugh everyday. I've lost my shadow and it just hurts to breathe knowing I can't hold you and touch you anymore. You'll never be there hanging your floppy jowls over my face in the morning, hogging the bed and snuggling under the covers in Winter and it will be too quiet without your burping, farting and snoring. There won't be anymore of your showing off your tricks to beg for more food or running through the house and yard like a loon. No more walking with you in the park or at the beach and no more of your wiggling bum when I come in the door. There will just be no more you and me. Nothing will ever be the same my beautiful girl - you made everyone who met you smile and laugh and I love you so so much.
  4. Thanks everyone - this stuff is impossible to conceal from my girl - I've had to just use the syringe. I'll get some tablets from the vet.
  5. Thank you - I've got a selection now = we have sardines or scrambled eggs and tomato sauce to try first and if not we will have to try the honey. Thanks everyone will update tomorrow.
  6. I'll try - she's not really herself at the moment. She's just come home today from an oral exam under anaesthetic yesterday and isn't showing much interest in anything. Hoping in the morning she is more aware but I'll have to get some tramadol into her later tonight.
  7. I don't even have ice cream in my freezer - I'll pick some up if the other suggestions don't work - Thanks
  8. We're starting on 1/2 ml but if she needs more the vet says she can go up to 1 ml. I"ll try honey ( she won't eat vegemite ) thanks P
  9. Crump has to be given liquid tramadol every 8-10 hours - Can anyone please give me some ideas what I can put it in/on/with to get it down. Syringe gets it into her mouth but she just gags and coughs. She can only eat soft food in tiny pieces mixed with water. She's also on liquid Meloxicam which goes on her food no problem but the tramadol stinks and she won't have a bar of it.
  10. I don't know if this would work but I had some of those black rubber camping mats from Bunnings ( not the ones with holes in ), they come in a 4 pack I think. I used them to cover the kitchen floor when Crump did her first cruciate ligament. I glued 12 of them together and it goes about halfway up the side so that she doesn't have to jump completely from the floor. although my bed is only 520mm from the floor to the top of the mattress. If you can glue about maybe 6 or 7 full size ones together and then another 6 or 7 cut in half on top it might fashion a sort of step he can handle. They are about 600 x 600 square. Hope that makes sense. Don't use any of the smelly glues or you'll gas yourself and the animals. I tried using a ramp but mine wouldn't have a bar of it but they use these mats. Even if they are on the other side of the bed they will both cross to the side where the mats are and jump up or down.
  11. So sorry to hear of your loss Boronia - it's so hard when they're just not there anymore. Hold those beautiful memories close, she will be watching over you.
  12. One year today since I had to say goodbye to you my gorgeous little man. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I wish I could have had some time to get my head around saying goodbye before you had to go, it all just felt so rushed and I wasn't ready and I just wanted the clock to stop for a while so I could come to some acceptance of what needed to be done. Most of all I wish I could go back and have an outcome that would have you still here with me today. Things are just so different here without you, and I'm still struggling especially at night. I miss absolutely everything you bought to the house, you were such a quirky little character, the smallest of the pack with the biggest presence and me and the girls just haven't been the same since. Tonight I will sit out with you under the bedroom window and try to open the letter that the vet sent me after I lost you but I still don't know if I can face that. I hope you are up there watching over us knowing how much we all miss you and waiting till we can all be together again. So until then, play nicely up there with all the other special furry and feathered ones - I love you Hoover my special little boy - kiss kiss.

  19. I just read that Buddy is going home ( don't know how to post a link ) from the Riverine Herald UPDATE 4.25pm: THE dog involved in the Moama river tragedy on Thursday will be returned to its owners. The pitbull was seized by Murray River Council rangers on Thursday night at the request of NSW Police. Murray River Council interim general manager Margot Stork said NSW Police had since advised council their investigations found the dog was responding to extreme circumstances. ‘‘It is likely that the dog was acting in reasonable defence of the nine-year-old boy that was subsequently hospitalised,’’ she said. ‘‘The NSW Police have advised council that they will not be seeking an order to destroy this animal.’’ A petition ‘Help Save Buddy’ was launched on the weekend to protect the pitbull, who many believe had saved the nine-year-old boy. ‘‘The dog is well and presently being cared for in a Murray River Council facility,’’ Ms Stork said. ‘‘Since the incident, we have microchipped the dog and are working with the dog’s owner to register the dog and set up the appropriate conditions to enable the dog to return home. ‘‘The owner has visited the dog at council’s facility and is working with us to ensure compliance with all obligations under the Companion Animals Act.’’
