  1. Jake is so gorgeous, look at his expressive face! Good news in our house - I have completely changed tactics with Scooter. Given some excellent advice from 2 doggy people I very much respect, a few days ago when I was at my wits end, things are different in this house! 1. I don't pick him up anymore. Ever. 2. If he growls at Ru when Ru is trying to get up on the bed or couch, I pick RU up and hoist him over Scooter so there's no altercation. 3. Give Scooter at least half his food by hand. 4. When he starts to forcefully guard something (angry/attack mode) I take it away. Very untraditional, but he doesn't respond well to the take-give training, and he's learning VERY quickly that if he behaves when he has something good, then he keeps it! :) Very proud of the boy. Vet behaviorist on my next day off.
  2. My friend and I are thinking of going halves, is there any way that we could be blocked from accessing it from 2 PCs? Or are there webinars you can only access once?
  3. We have 3, my dogs and my housemate's dog, plus the cat that thinks she's a dog! Mine are 1 (Cav) and 2 (Papillon) and hers is a 17 year old Toy Poodle. I definitely have my hands full, but one of mine is special needs, so takes up the majority of my time. Luckily the other one is soooo chill and is happy just to be alive, and the poodle just sleeps or hangs out with you. I could have 10 dogs like Ru and Elwood! But one Scootie is enough :D
  4. Nothing new to report apart from his reactivity getting worse and he's now starting to get quite nasty toward Ru and Elwood He seems to be walking better but the vet is still very wait and see... Sigh.
  5. One of mine had this, it was an infected grass seed between 2 teeth!!
  6. Thanks guys <3 Snook, unfortunately were are still looking for answers, he may have a slipped disc but I don't have the $ right now to have more tests done and it makes me sick every time he's under GA. Hes such a fragile little guy! Thanks hankdog :) I wish I could improve his life, it's so hard! Rudy is like the most easy simple dog EVER in comparison - he's sooo happy to even exist and Scooter is just like the chalk to his cheese. He's cheered up a bit since Ru came over (partner and I split and I've just moved house, so Ru only joined us yesterday). Yes I'm in your neck of the woods now Megan! It's so good, takes 20 mins to walk to work. He's not allowed to go on walks right now, the housemate is under strict instruction! Prednisolone has really stacked the weight on him so my next challenge is to get that off as it won't be doing his sore spots any favours... I don't know if I'd said this to you before, but I so admire what you've done with Lucy. If Noodle Brain and I click half as much as you guys have, I will consider everything I've done a success :) When puppy classes start at work I'm gonna pull my finger out and catch Cosmolo for a chat and a definite book in! I'm sure there are things I can still implement despite him being housebound.
  7. I can't wait for Scooter's health to be under control so I can hire a trainer and post in here again! I miss you guys lol. I did contact a behaviourist about him (again) who said he was a very complicated case but I think in all honesty fear and pain impact on his ability to think like a 'normal' dog in most of his life. We shall see I guess. He is getting worse despite my best efforts and I had another friend say she would have given up on him by now yesterday. Sigh. (Sorry about the rant, no one replied to my thread in general so I'm a bit upset about that + everything else going on. Not even a dog lovers community wants to listen to my issues with Scootie LOL)
  8. You poor thing. I've been in that kind of situation before with Scootie, people see an adorable dog and their brain switches off... until he reacts to their off-lead obnoxious dog! Then he's "nasty". Hugs and I'm sorry about your transfer being unsuccessful.
  9. My dog was attacked twice by off-lead dogs at obedience club and he is so affected by it. Please don't put your dog in situations like this I would think twice about ever taking any dog I owned to ANY club thanks to the irresponsible people that ruin it for everyone else. My class' instructor continually allowed her dog to approach mine despite the bandana - HELLO?! If the instructors can't even follow protocol why would anyone else?
  10. She's bootiful. Good luck with her, and I hope the news is good :)
  11. Ka-Pooch are great, I used to work up the road from them and their customers always spoke very highly of them :)
  12. They think he might have a disc issue but need to get more x-rays done by a specialist. The other things we already knew (leg needs operating, back is obviously sore). Yay I'm so glad I have all this spare cash to throw around ! Next visit is Thursday for his cartrophen and another check to see if the drugs are working. Blah.
  13. Omg ness!!! What a nightmare! No advice, just support and you know where I am if you need to rant xx
  14. He's currently admitted at the vet for sedation, a real good look and prod around his legs and back (his other leg definitely needs surgery) and then knocking out for x-rays. He now barely walks at all, has a mild interest in food, no interest in toys (this is scary) and never barks (so unlike him). God I hope they find out what's wrong!
  15. Pred is not making a difference thus far apart from his bloating up like a balloon. He's lost his spark and just lies down all the time, today he tried to run for the first time in over a week and sorta half-assedly trotted for about 2 seconds (in the house). He's hunching more than he has been and the vet said to bring him back AGAIN if he wasn't looking immediately better (he was confident the new drugs would work). I'm DYING. My friends are SOOOO sick of me talking about him and how worried I am. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It's been six months since his first leg op and he's still in pain. That's 1/4 of his life so far. Oh, Noodle. Sorry
  16. Happy birthday Charlie! Love me, Pootie and Ru xx
  17. Thanks for the advice PS, fortunately the specialist has given Rudy's eyes the all clear so he doesn't need surgery after all :D Scootie was back at the vet AGAIN today as none of the drugs he has been put on are working - he had his first cartrophen shot today and will be starting pred tomorrow. He's on strict crate rest (again) for the next few days and if he doesn't improve in the next two weeks we will sedate and test for nerve(!!!) damage. The vet was pretty aghast at his condition considering his age but very kindly reassured me and said there was nothing I could have done differently. I feel like shit.
  18. Hi HD :) Good news is that Ru's eyes are fine! Bad news is that Scooter's OTHER back leg is luxating AND he's hurt his back somehow. Berk. Now I'm in between jobs I'm applying like mad for a new one and praying things don't get any worse before I'm in a better financial position!
  19. This isn't much, but I have an almost full bottle of Clomicalm 20 that I'd be happy to post to you :) It doesn't work for my little special one unfortunately.
  20. (Panzer here) Oh BC I don't have any advice, but want to send you virtual hugs Scootie is getting worse again too, I feel your pain. Poor you, poor OH, poor Sonny and poor Stella. It sounds like she's incredibly sensitive and picks up on emotional changes (like Scootie does) - certainly makes life challenging x
  21. This is such an excellent idea and something I hope catches on nation wide - as a groomer I would love to be involved! :) The video was awesome, the dogs all looked so lovely.
