  1. I would be getting insurance for sure! I have an insurance policy, for my lab puppy, which costs around $450 a year. In the last 6 months I have made around $6000 worth of claims. To me insurance is well worth it and there are lots of good insurance policies around.
  2. Thanks Trish, that is about $5 cheaper than the other sites I have seen, will save the link for next time, have already ordered through VetStop. I have been using Joint Guard, for my puppy, but I really dont think it has made any difference. Our specialist has recomended Glyde so hopefully it will help.
  3. Clover, I got mine at the Haymarket, I guess that is what you mean by the Hayshed. Cost $28, I think.
  4. I have been feeding my Labs Pro Plan and they all looked pretty average, so after reading this thread I went and bought some Uncle Albers and the difference in them is amazing! Their coats have improved and they look great. My puppy is still getting Pro Plan, as she is doing really well on it and also spat out the Uncle Albers. I am still coming to terms with the fact that my dogs are actually doing well on cheap food
  5. Peibie............do you get your Glyde online? If so, where do you get it and what price do you pay? I have looked at several sites and have seen prices ranging from $82 to $110! Thanks
  6. I have been using Joint Guard, for my puppy but the specialist she has been seeing has suggested Glyde is a better product. Does anyone use Glyde?
  7. Stem cell treatment does sound great although the specialist I saw today seemed very sceptical of the whole thing.
  8. Not sure that pyoderma and puppy strangles are the same thing. I have had 2 puppies with strangles and it is horrible! My pups were both treated cortisone and antibiotics, not sure you will have much luck in treating strangles without cortisone. Good luck.
  9. You are right on the spelling, it is titre! I was told to stop feeding my puppy raw beef, as eating infected meat (or in the womb) is possibly how she got neosporisis.
  10. I would ask them to do a neospora titer so you know for sure what you are dealing with. Interesting that your vet has had 2 cases recently, I did not think it was that common. Do you know if the other cases survived? Has your pup been fed raw beef? Sending healing thoughts for your puppy!
  11. Is he being treated with Clindamycin? Good luck.
  12. I had a puppy with neosporosis last year, she had no problems with her eyes(except for one huge and small pupil) but her back legs were paralysed. Distemper was considered (although the specialist had not seen a case since working in the Kimberley 20 years ago!) but a high neospora titer confirmed that it was neosporosis. Hope you can find out the problem with your puppy.
  13. I have PetPlan, I think it seems pretty reasonable. I think I paid around $400, for the year and have $14000 worth of cover. I am about to put in my first claim for surgery costing around $1500, I am so glad I took out the policy!
  14. My pup was vaccinated with c3 at 12 weeks, titer tested at 5 months Parvo 1:64 Distemper 1:4096
  15. The treatment for puppy strangles (also known as juvenile cellulitis) is cortisone and antibiotics, my puppy has taken about 2 months to recover and finally be free from medication. Will send you a pm
  16. Has puppy strangles been considered? Sounds similar to what happened to my lab puppy after her 12 week c3 vaccination.
  17. Sophie was an amazing girl to fight for so long and so hard and you were so lucky to have had eachother. I am so sorry. :D
  18. My labs love their Snooza futons, they have the mighty (not sure if that is large or xlarge) sized ones. They are great and very easy to wash.
  19. Thanks, what area is that? Geelong?
  20. Does anyone know of a dog physio and (or) anyone who does animal accupuncture in the Ballarat area? Thanks
  21. I remember a few years ago, our shearers smoko was stollen, I blamed the one of the kelpies, that was until 2 days later one of my labs was seen walking around with about a meter of gladwrap trailing from her bum!!
  22. Not sure, it could be from the mother or from eating raw meat.
  23. Just wondering, has anyone had a dog with neosporosis? Thanks
  24. I sent all my puppies home with 6 weeks insurance, from Pet Plan, and have just taken out their insurance on the puppy I have kept. I think their terms and conditions are reasonable. I do not know about other breeds but they do not exclude genetic conditons for Labs.
  25. Thanks, Tramissa Puppy strangles
