Scottie refused to eat the hills grain free & something in it gave him gooby eyes so I returned it to pet barn. -
Thanks Jules :) Much appreciated.

Looking For A Big Strong Wading/shell Pool

Mal could swim laps in that -
Yes - the vet was telling me about an anxious dog they have in where the owners were reported a welfare case she's so skinny
-
Nah - I kinda know - but you know the un-testable stuff - like my mums Grandmothers name...

I get what you're saying - but... like knowing where I've come from and as I age I get increasingly sad that I don't know my family history beyond a generation or so. While I'm not trying to humanise dogs (I can't think of the right word at the moment) I feel the same way in some respects - if I had a mutt who was very questionable I'd do it. I'd do it for Scottie if I was still earning "sydney wages". A family member recently had her dog tested - she'd been advertised as Golden Retriever - (no papers, private re-home, being sold as she wastoo much dog for this sydney family at the age of 7 months) - as she grew she wasn't "quite right" DNA indicated she wasn't 100% golden (which was obvious) - and they named the breed other they suspected she was. Straight up Golden x Maremma. Makes no difference to the owners, they still love her - and she's much happier on a property with fences to patrol and chickens to protect. But all in all - I think it's a nice to know / for a laugh - I'd have to have spare money for it (not likely these days).

Any update / observations on this? I notice that the VIP grain free page looks the same but on the contact page it's directing people to the "real pet food company" http://www.vippetfoods.com.au/contact-us/ & that it wasn't on the shelf when I was home in Sydney a week or so ago. Just wondering if I should stockpile a few bags.... If so... grrr.... It's the only dry Scott reliably eats and doesn't react to.

Yup. Wish I hadn't deleted the file I saw - it was not long after I moved to NZ and I remember thinking - I'd be surprised if there are many of "that breed" in NZ - and I'll eat a hat if they're contributing to the mutt gene pool... if you know what I mean. Can't for the life of me remember what it was now... LOL

P.S - We walked a clients dogs straight after the vets - so he's totally pooped right now. Snore-grumbling away on the couch as I type.

Vet visit today for a new script. All seems well. Not shifting any weight :/ - slight gain since our last visit a month ago which is annoying. Have been very strict on measuring out meals and next to no treats. Now I know for sure what he's getting a day and have cut down a bit (I had been eye balling it for while) I will cut him back a bit more. It is hard as the xanax makes him really *really* hungry & he's sleeping a lot more too. We suspect he was fed food other than ours at the kennels while he was there, he also wasn't walked while there - they're given free time in the paddock and he's not really one for "self directed play". Otherwise the vet was happy enough with him - no significant changes - but we've started some arthritis meds which have been on the agenda for ages and kept getting put off - trying to get liver back to normal, then starting on the dementia meds etc etc. So hopefully being back on two structured walks and day, slightly less food, some veg, plus arthritis meds we might be able to shift some weight.

LOL. Sas - I just saw your post. As a dedicated member of the LM fan club I apologise for my tardy response. It's um... very accurate :) *giggle* Nah - in all seriousness, thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to see if they could get a more accurate read 4 years on.
-
Awesome. Hope you figure it out :)

Could be dementia. Look up CCD and see if any thing else sounds familiar.

Yeh + simple maths says if you leave it 12 months - your old dog will be older and I always get nervy - I'd rather just get it done and out of the way now - not 12 months down the track.

LOL.... Look at that mop on Denki :D

Another Puppy Scam - Course Of Action?
Scottsmum replied to Scottsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I suspect that it was a lot of money Mrs RB. Popular breed, bitch, full register & *shudder* one of those colours ... if you know what I mean.. I did also suggest that but i think the buyer is a bit overwhelmed & feeling sheepish.. What doggy based things can be done? I assume contcting all three (2 state bodies) and ANKC Is about all?
