Another Puppy Scam - Course Of Action?
Scottsmum replied to Scottsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Buyer says they've contacted their bank already ... and it's gone from their account. AU and NZ banks have some oddly strange differences so ... I dunno -
quick update. I've been away for 10 days - Scottie went to the kennels while i was gone as he's a lot of work and scottsdad is ... well... forgetful at times. I left extensive notes, enough food & lots of drugs (including 10 full days dose of xanax should they need it). Hubby checked in twice for me as I was having issues with my phone. They said he was excellent and at some stage got an "eye infection" - which they treated without contacting us I suspect it was a gungy eye from eating grainy food. Anyhow -hes home and seems completely OK except for a rub mark on his nose from where he's obviously tried to break out & was sent home with a lot of spare food but seems OK. I finally made contact with the recommended behaviorist before I left & hve some homework to do before we see them. Not holding out hope on that front - but we'll see. Other than that, I think he missed me: home2 by Superspanger, on Flickr (if you look closely you'll see his homecoming pressie safely nestled into my neck too)

Hi all, Posting on behalf of a facebook acquaintance. Will (try to) keep it short... but it's a bit convoluted and ... um... a good reminder to really do your homework before buying a pup. This person organised to buy a puppy (bitch, full register) from breeder in Aus & have it shipped to NZ. Paid full amount, finds out it's a scam - someone has been using this breeders paperwork (or a variation of) and name and selling non-existent pups. This person aka [the buyer] has now lost their money & does not have a pup. [the buyer] has a copy of the ANKC certificate of kennel registration with three names on it (looks photoshopped to me) and has a link to the breeders DOL page & a photo of the membership card showing membership to a state body showing current membership & number. I noted that the DOL listing is for a different state for the membership card for the state body. As well as in a different name (same surname) *I learnt while typing this up that the money went to a bank account in a third state. LOL - helps to know your geography! Apparently when [the buyer] contacted the breeder through DOL [the buyer] was told by the person who owns the DOL listing (the stud name being ripped off) that they don't "want to know about, and told me I was stupid and don't contact [breeder] again" [the buyer] is speaking to NZ police tomorrow and also their bank to try and get the funds returned. I also suggested calling the two state membership bodies to alert them to the scam as well as the website [the buyer] made original contact with the fake seller. What else can [the buyer] do?

Purchased Dog But Previous Owner Wants Back?
Scottsmum replied to Remidog's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a crappy situation but you're probably best to have returned her. You can have a fresh start now. -

I'd probably give her back. Sounds like the gravity of their decision has hit them. And you will find the right dog at the right time. -
Not if you can't build ;) As for the kennel - depends on wht you want. I had a great plastic igloo type for years - came apart for scrubbing and removla "treasures" - we kept it up off the ground on bricks and when possible out of the elements - one of these ones: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ingle-farm/pet-products/dog-kennel-igloo/1121226716 filled with blankies and paper as an insulator. It was also good for sitting on. Next kennel i get will have some way to seal the door off from the elements a bit better, but really the kennel was only ever a day bed so didnt need to be super awesome.

I was in Sydney but when I looked into flyball I found it a bit of a hard nut to crack. As soon as I said "casual" I hardly got a response - so... um... It can be quite hard on their bodies too - but that's all based on internet research and observation. Not actual experience so maybe others with 'real' knowledge will correct me?

She's had a big week PK. :)

40: All the little people in my life are blonde, girly and under 13 AND they all got silly socks (except the 2 year old) as birthday/ "just because" pressies while I was home. Amazingly, I managed to get the correct spelling - even for one of the more unusual names. I just love how ridiculous they look. LOL 40 by Superspanger, on Flickr

In What Ways Are You Like Your Dog?
Scottsmum replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Scottie is my complete opposite & its one of the reasons I love him. Hes a morning dog, athletic, prefers to eat well. Loves exercise .... im not.... any of the above :) -
Scottie often carries a fave toy half way to the park before dropping it. I dont think this is a lot different to pinning a babies dummy to its bib! The second leash handle thing has no appeal to me. I don't have a strong opinion on it either way
-
Oh yes - they were both very gracious (owners that is) and I know that one of doggies still got his post NW celebration treat (a maccas soft serve ) I just know how heartbreaking it can be for the owners :) Huge well done. Two of my mates participated and didn't get all 4 elements Next time! There's always a next time

Barking Dog - While They Are Home!
Scottsmum replied to shapeshifter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Call the council or depending on your state the police assistance line & make a noise complaint. We had to do that when our new neihhbours dogs wouldn't stop barking. We had the complaints on record. PAL is anonymous & the cops did pop around & check on the dogs -
Nah it wasn't Scottie who was tested. It was a mut from Facebook came back with some super rare breed i just couldn't imagine being in rural NZ. Let alone in a mutt

I think if I was still on "sydney money" I'd have had it done already for a LOL. But I have seen some results (I have since lost them) for another dog which, in my own opinion, were complete shit. So .... I dunno....I do like the idea of adding to the database :)
