Give the lady the advice she needs , the dog is a melon the dog is a mental case , the dog is a skitso , call it what you want but give her the advice she needs , GET RID ,, wHO CARES IF THE DOG HAS PHYSICAL ISSUES , THERES A BIGGER ISSUE HERE AND THATS THE SAFETY OF A child , YES A PROPER HUMAN CHILD ... THE LADY NEEDS SENSIBLE ADVICE . Tell you or rather ask you all something , this is especielly for you TDIERIKZ ,,, i HAVE SAID A DOZEN TIMES GET RID BUT NOT NECCESARY PUT HER DOWN , GIVE HER TO AN ADULT WHO CAN CONTROL AND WORK WITH DOGS ,, , now since you seem to think that this dogs issues could be sore ears , teething , upset tummy ,, thinks the childs going to take her teddy ,, and your such an expert who believes in a 100 chances because you worked with speciel needs dogs , YOU TAKE HER ,, you put her with your kids or grandkids , YOU take the risk of her mauling a child you be the one who the police come to see if it ever does it , bet you don't , but you will call me a dick for trying to convey in the strongest possible way not to listen to idiot animal lovers who can see a dog doing no wrong but to acknoledge she has in her house a potential killer ... How do i know , easy , we had a weirdo animal lover with a house full of cats and stray dogs ,, who always made excuses for her dogs being uncontrolable , in the days when people would just let them out to roam , yeh she was making excuses for her reactive nutcase GSD that bit lots of people , she made excuses even after the police took it away and destroyed it , AFTER it ripped my brothers arm to shreds , tore all the muscle of the bone done irriparable damage , and sentenced him to a life with a arm that will not work . YOU TAKE THE DOG , who knows you may even make excuses idf it mauls you .. Belinda the dogs a dud just get rid of it be be sure to be safe
  2. I rescued one a young girl had it and had to leave her rental , she could'nt find another rental that would allow a dog , so i took it when i picked him up she had a baby on the floor dog was around 9 months old and fantastic with the baby from what i could see ,, i had him for about 2 years but after heart surgery he was'nt getting the excercise he needed he needed to run i went for walks ,, but great dog , i gave him too my son because they liked each other and my son went jogging every day and his wife went every day at a different time , it was perfect for him he would get 2 5-6 klm jogs every day , then still run around the yard with my grandaughter all day , he became her best freind , slept on her bed never left her side , but alas she got older went to school , made freinds , he still got his runs and was /is content to be in the house ,, , then 2 years ago along came there next child , he made a beeline for the cot and stayed with the baby all the time , babies two now and guess what , he's her new best freind there insepreble around the back yard in the house , he now sleeps on her bed ,,, He's 10 now and when he goes theres going to be broken hearts in that house , he is probably the best familly dog we have ever had , although my son had been brought up with dogs he never paid much attention to them his wife had never owned one , so you could really say they were first time dog owners , and he has been perfect in fact he still is , i was around there today , he came up for his pat , then goes sits with or follows the grandaughter , ,, great great dog for a familly who excercise or on a property ,,, will be honest though being a bit older now , i would'nt get an heeler for myself i don't jog anymore and there a dog that needs excercise
  3. Bit of a double edged sword really is'nt it ,, i bought a shepard from a breeder , and a staffy from a breeder , well other dogs has well from breeders , but i mention these two because both of them breeders on pick up asked if they could contact me later to see how the dogs were doing ,, i was actually pleased with that , to me it just sort of reiforced that i had chose the right dog from the right breeder they cared about there dogs ,,,, However i don't think i would of agreed if they demanded it , the staffy breeder did actually follow it up but then asked me to show him and stud him , i said no i was'nt interested in showing , and i was'nt bothered about giving him a tate then taking it away just for a couple of dollars ,,, she jokingly said i should of kept him he turned out the best ,, but don't think deep down she was joking LOL

Well DONE , sorry for coming on so strong especielly uncalled for name calling ,, I suspect that you really are attached to this dog but your child comes first ,, and like i said a dozen times staffys are renowned for being good with kids , i'm sure theres breeders on here who can help you source one , at least you have been honest and not glossed it all over , , but facts are facts , dogs are animals , people are people , and just like occasionaly in the human race we get some who are to put it bluntly dangerous nutcases , who just need a trigger to set them off ,, we get it in dogs has well ,

Belinda ,, i now have your attention , so i will apolagise for calling you an idiot your correct , you came on looking for advice ,,, However you came on months ago , and are still seeking advice on what to do with a dog that attacked your toddler not once , not twice , not 3 times but 4 ,, WELL take my advice GET RID you may well have another dog which is a great dog , BUT you have a PUP you cannot control or train how do i know that because YOU TOLD US its attacked him 4 times up to now and your worried it may do some damage when it gets older ,, well i can assure you when it gets older IF and i know its an IF it attacks it will do some damage , its a staffy they have strong jaws yours is reactive , you obviously cannot train it to stop it because at 5-6 months it should'nt be doing it you should of trained it not too BUT it may be the dog not you , does'nt matter , your putting your son and possibly others in a dangerous situation ,, do what you want its your dog and your son but if you keep it and it does something nasty in 2 -3 or even 4 years time right out of the blue , just remember what this muppet acording to Dogs fever told you ,, Ok i may have been a bit stronger than i should off you appear to be a decent person , but honestly i feel you need to listen and listen carefully , forget listening to animal lovers who will virtually blame you for not taking him to the vet , but rest assured them same people will blame you if something happens , Maybee take him if it gives you peice of mind , but the vets an adult who is looking at the dog not a child who startles him or in two years and gets savaged , this dog at the very least needs firm upbringing and sorry but the fact you have allowed it to attack your child FOUR TIMES tells us its not going to get it with you. dogsfever suggested i'm a muppet and stupid for suggesting you need a dog like mine ,, well you do , mines a placid gentle dog , and from a good breeder you will get one just like mine how do i know because i had a placid gentle staffy for 14 years , i think the difference with you and i i also took in a 10 month old Rotty which was to be honest viscous ,, but the correct training he was not after 3 months of solid training and spending time with him i doubt you could control a dog like that you can't control your pup . Now i do feel for you , your obviosly a dog lover and you said you always wanted a staffy , well go get one just from a reputable breeder but for heavens sake get rid of this one its just not worth the risk , Don;t listen to nutty people giving stupid advice , video him , what for ,, you've already seen and told us what he's like you seen him attack your boy 4 times , loony animal lovers who only see good in the dogs and its all your fault are that ,just loony and like i said , anything happens they will blame you not the dog . vets like i said do it for peice of mind but i bet the dog behaves and the vet says he's fine , well then ask the vet if he wants him , ask the vet would he bring . that dog up with his own kids , bet he won't I say it again , you don't have to put him down , , a new owner some one like myself with no kids at home and can train and control dogs may turn her into the perfect pet , for them ,, but sorry with a small child she may turn out to be the perfect pet , but sometime they the dog and your child will be together ALONE do you really want to take that chance ,, up to you but this stupid muppett says she's had 4 chances and thats too many ,,, Give her away go to a reputable breeder and buy a good one Above poster , makes a point about is she just being mouthy , without knowing and seeing the dog its hard too know , But i'm basing all my posts on the sumise that its not just a case of being mouthy and in fact a case of biting and agression based on what your saying and your being concerned enough to ask for advice , so i stand by what i am saying ,, also makes me wonder being a backyard breeder , are you sure its a ful staffy , still does'nt matter , lets not read about it in the papers go get a nice placid gentle kid loving staffy plenty out there i keep saying i've owned one and there famous for it , good luck with it ,, and your not an idiot , but you will feel like one if something happens down the track

Was rather FULL ON was'nt it , and guess what , if it shakes this lady up to get rid of the dog and protect her child ,, I've got broad shoulders i can handle critism ,,, but forget all this take it to the vet , it may have anxiety problems ect ect , its all rubbish , the dog is a biter and thats all there is too iit , the dog is a pup which has ATTACKED yes ATTACKED a 3 year old , on numerous occasions ,, stuff all the nice talk she should get rid of that dog yesterday , she cannot control it ,, its a biter , or she can play artsy fartys good dog owner rubbish and leave it then when its at 12 -18 months old , if she's lucky when it attacks her daughter at the age of 4 it will only give her face 2 or 3 stitches instead of hundreds or god forbid worse ,, , Nope the time for niceties with this lady are over she's continually put her own child at risk , because she's always wanted a staffy she needs to get real and get rid YESTERDAY .. Now with saying all that i not saying she should have it put down , because its quite possible the correct owner could handle it perhaps give it away to someone with a lot of experience with dogs , then they can put it down if unsuccesful ,, ,, staffys she's always wanted one , well i would say by and large there a great familly dog , basing that on owning one for 14 years , a truly great familly dog and a big suck ,,, ,,, a viscous dog can be turned around i was given a rotty that had the same temperment , he was 10 month old , would bite everyone and everything , within 3 month i had him he was a changed dog still one to be watched carefully , but i did'nt allow him near my grandkids and other people unles i was there , just training and knowing his place in the pack ,changed him but i and my wife could always control him ,, this lady CANNOT control a pup that is a big worry , she should'nt own a dog than can be reactive , a gentle shitzu / maltese cross like i have now would be the dog for her . . I may of been a bit strong , but this lady needs to be told some home truths , You don't keep a loaded gun on top of the tv around children , then act all suprised when theres an accident , you have to assume THERES GOING TO BE AN ACCIDENT and remove it ,, better safe than sorry has the expresion goes , and its only stupidity to think i'll take the chance because i've always wanted one ,, she needs to get rid , and go pay a good breeder for one Also another reason i chose to be stronger in my wording than most is simply because the lady , cannott handle this dog , so advice about take it to the vets it may be hurting , keep the child away it may be startling the dog , is excatly what you would expect on a dog forum with absolute dog lovers , but facts are it does'nt matter , this lady is NEVER going to be able to handle a reactive dog no matter the age or breed regardless of wether its got a sore paw or an upset tummy , she just needs to get rid of a danger in the house to her child . simple has that really ... Give it to a adult owner who maybee can train it , and they will take it to the vets and check it out
  10. Never ceases t amaze me for animal people how many times the rspca are a million miles of the mark with descriptions of dogs

Sorry i thought the original post was from last wed has well ,, but if its ongoing and she has'nt done something about it , its simple does'nt deserve a dog because when with one that she cannot control and does'nt take advice she just should'nt have a dog ,,, but even more so i will say she does'nt deserve kids , any person willing to put and allow there child to be in danger fro either a dog or a human ,, needs the child and the dog took away ,, so were either dealing here with a full grown nutcase or an absolute idiot either way the child needs prorecting and she needs banning from owning dogs ,, kid gets killed here in a years time , it will be no good crying then , facts are some animals are just bad ones , and some humans are just idiots , and a person asking advice on how to stop a dog from attacking a toddler when its done it numerous times , i just cannoptt comprehend it , its really does' defy logic

Alls i'm going to say is this and its simple and straight to the point GET RID a 5 month old pup attacking a 3 year old , don't mess about get rid ,, either put the dog down or give it to an adult only home BUT tell them why this dog could grow into a killer or with the correct adult a good dog ,, but for heavens sake you don't ;leave it in the house with your familly to late when it gets serious . . Ok a lot of real dog and animal lovers will say , go to the vet , poor dog may be in pain , but guess what a lot of real nice people would say Oh Jeffrey was a real nice boy he had a few issues , but we did'nt know or could'nt concieve that he was going to kill 24 people , chop some up and eat them ,, what the dogs showing bad tendencies it should NEVER be trusted with children its going to be a dangerous dog ,,, Jeez i've got the most gentle dog on earth sits sucking my thumb ,, but tell you something i do not allow my 12 month old grandchild alone with him . GET RID GET RID and Get rid again ,, if need be ask if an adults home only on here want to take him off your hands
  13. Curious , whats multiculturism got to do with it , , I can see what parenting would have to do with it , example , i can remember my sister was scared of dogs ,, she would hine behind my mam like that child did when big dogs came near her ,,, but i can assure you if she carried on after at home i'm scared i can't sleep type thing ,,, MY mother would never ever of put up with it ,, she would of been told in no uncertain terms , to pack it in , theres no dog in there stop attention seeking ,, , would'nt suprise me if the owner is next going to get a letter of a lawyer , supplied by legal aid of course , asking for damages
  14. No doubt about it you work dealing with the general public , when there paying money out is stressfull my wife had a big argument in the supermarket this week ,, she went to the checkout was the only one there , putting through a large trolley of food , apparantly she was the only one at the checkout ,, food was nearly all the way through and a man stood behind her complained saying you people make me sick , you could of let me through , first i only have one item , , she apparantly answered sorry but you were not here when my food started to go trhough , to which he answered , step away from me can't you see i've got a mask on , i don't want to catch your germs , , well sorry but he picked a fight with the wrong one , she apparantly let him have it , told him to bugger off to the 12 or less items which was empty , go somewhere else with his phobias , and watch his tone of voice , who does he think he's talking too ,, bla bla bla ,, i was laughing i could just imagine it ,, she apparantly told him he's a worthless pompous little man with phobias , and to piss off and try bullying a man , he left .. my wife then apologised to the checkout girl who was only a kid , and said i'm sorry about that but he was'nt here otherwise i would of let him through ,,, the girl said no it was great , he comes in here every day and he's always the same but were not allowed to say anything that was great ,, she then tells the wife , he's the most frequent but ot the worst they have to put up with ... I was laughing whilst she told me ,, thinking picked on the wrong one buddy ,, she's had a houseful of males myself and 3 big burly sons she brought up ,, and she ruled this roost ,, , her words i'm not putting up with shit from a pompous little ass hole like that who thinks he can bully people , . People in occupations dealing with the public really go through it . mind you i will say i've not had good experiences with vets , i've posted before , theve charged me a fortune and never even come close to telling me whats wrong , i figured it out myself asking questions and following advice on here and elswhere ,, BUT its not the girl in the vets fault , i think its been the vets themselves dis interested , and just a case of there ya go $400 thank you NEXT
  15. My first thoughts were , pointer cross , nice looking dog
  16. Hope my experience can help others , it all seems good now , smells gone ,, itching has stopped , so it looks like the itching and scratching wes definetly related to the minced beef , which was high quality lean mince , the roo pet mince i was worried about , because in the past pet chicken mince made him sick , but it seems fine although i'm taking no chances i'm cooking it ,, butcher i bought it from has greyhounds he said he feeds it to them but cooks it first just in case theres bacteria ... Cost well like i said its not much on the scope of things , I do expect the ears to carry on going red and sore ,, but i'm hoping the change in diet fixes it but i'm not holding my breath ,, Still disapointed in ALL the vets i've been too , not one told me what the problem was , every single one it was , walk in $70 , take a swap of the ear for yeast $70 , anti biotics $70 , steroids $70 small opti care stuff $70 Three to Four hundred dollars depending on vet , and it was see how he goes, pay on your way out ,don't let the door hit you One vet i asked his advice about apple cider vinigar , i told him i seen a vet on u tube reccomending it has a quick easy fix , his answer was , you put that on chips don't you , but it does seem the only thing that seems to fix them quickly
  17. Don't mind me asking whats wrong with the sea , or a local creek . will admit dog i have now will not have a bar of it , but all my previous dogs have loved the dog beach and any creek or river i took them too ,,, then again i live in a great spot for that , theres a creek joins the river at the dog beach two minuites from me and 5 minuites drive theres where a river joins the beach , and best of all non are heavilly populated with dogs or people
  18. Thought i'd give an update on how he's going ,, start with i thought definetly change his dry food i done a lot of looking and decided to feed him TASTE OF THE WILD it seems to get good reviews and the girl in the pet shop said its one of there best , so out with the supermarket NATURES GIFT and he now gets this , price is treble but heh , he 's only a small dog it will last a month easy , he gets half a cup in the morning . Then for his night feed , i bought a kilo human grade beef , lightly cooked it mainly because chicken mince un cooked once had him to the vets with a neuclear war going on in his tummy , i boiled up a kilo of mixed frozen veg , , mixed them together ,, , Instant result within days the smell had gone he was smelling normal , did'nt even relize how bad he was until we went away for 7 days came back and the whole house still stank of him , still thats the wifes job now , she knows what to do . But and theres always a BUT ,, he developed a severe scratching and itching problem , so i gave the beef mix away , and went and bought some , pet roo mince ,, it was only $7.50 a kilo so i bought 2 kilo for the same price has the mince , i cooked that has well got to be honest did'nt like the smell and said naaaw gonna change that , but he seems to love it woofs it down , mixed that with 2 kilo of mixed veg , and thats his nightime meal ,, within probably 5-6 days of changing to roo , the scratching stopped ,, plus he's only had one bout of red this time semi inflamed ears , which the cider vinigar fixed up overnight so alls looking good for the moment Thanks for all the advice , because to be honest its the first time i've ever had problems with a dog in 45-50 years of owning them ,, i put it down to the breed shitz - maltese cross , every other dog i've ever owned have always been big strong with beutiful shiny coats , and good examples , of there breed , and i've never really been fussy over what i fed them Cost wise its no biggy because he's only small , give him half a cup kibble in the morning approx 50-=60 grams , around 150 grams of the roo -veg mix at night , and too be honest , he's a bit overweight still , so its not a huge expense works out around $15 a week , , Now normally the wife just throws the bag of natures gift in with the shopping , usually grabs it when its on speciel and we don't even think about it 3 kilo bag , for around 15 bucks ,, no big deal ,, but upgrading him to mince and veg , and the more expensive kibble has made me relize if yu had two BIG dogs like i used to always own , you would probably need a part tim job to pay for them ,, may explain whay theres so many at the dogs homes ,,, because its obvious the cheaper stuff in supermarkets will cost you in vets bills
  19. Makes me wonder who sets these standards ,, i like shepards always have ,, but i like the look of the working line shepard straight back strong healthy ,, yet 99% of shepards i see on the dog beach every single day are hunchbacked with short back legs , and in many cases , look like they are a hind leg problem waiting too happen ,, thes dogs are being bred too the hunchback standard so who sets the rules of what they should be . especielly when its far removed from the same breed 30 years ago .. Honestly the amount of timid hunchback shepards i see breaks my heart for that breed , i see them every single day , because i live opposite and go on there everyday with my dog ,
  20. First thing i would do is worm her , if its a food thing she's waking for , then i'd be giving the dog a very very stern NO , start has you mean to go on ,, dogs are like kids , dogs learning make a noise you will get fed up and get up . dogs ok though it will have a feed and just go in a corner and sleep when its tired , , Be firm ,
  21. Spoke to a very nice lady yesterday , she breeds maltese , so i figured , lot more experience with small toy dogs than me , so i'll ask her ,, she suggested and agreed with me its probaly a high chance its his diet , thinks the mince concoction is good for him , but perhaps change the beef to roo or venision , also said theres a good meaty product called prime 100 if i don't want to cook myself .. Lady said i've been feeding him rubbish from the supermarket dry foods , and suggested if i'm going to keep that up buy a better one , delicate care from the vets she suggested ,, I'm up for it was .nt even expensive to do , think 2 kilo of beef mince was only 20 dollars , kilo of mixed veg 5 bucks thats 20 night time meals for 25 bucks , buy the more expensive kibble she said about 35 for 2.5 kilo ,, morning meal at 60-80 grams grams easy a months supply , 60 bucks or so for a months food , cheaper than the vets every 2 months , if it works ,, fingers crossed , and if i ever get another dog its back to big strong dogs LOL , , never ever had any issues before with big dogs ,, there definetly more hardy
  22. He really does'nt have any skin problems has such , no excessive scratching , no loss off hair , just stinks lately ,, and ear infections Has i stated before its ongoing he does a course of antibiotics and steroids and its back within weeks I used to stop the doggy smell by just getting him cut ,, longer his hair the more he stinks cut him and it went , but last two cuts its stayed with us . Now regards his ears when they start to look red or he's scratching them , i just bathe them in organic vinigar 50-50 water vinigar , this seems to clear them up . different vets have said its not yeast ,, i looked if his ears need cutting but not much hair in there that you can see , i'm coming too the conclusion his ear problem is just something we have to live with an keep on top they or one infected ear was cleaned out while he was asleep not long ago vet said there was gunk ect in there but guess what within weeks all inflamed again , i'm starting to think its all diet related ,,, I've been feeding him either supercoat or natures gift he likes them but really he eats anything ,, so i'm going to swap it around . open for suggestions on what dry food Just made up a big pan of mixed frozen veg , 1 kilo , 2 kilo of lean mince , (human consumption ) and cup of rice , fried the mince lightly in olive oil , mixed it altogether and bagged into serves put in the freezer thats one meal the other i will stick on dried food , primarily because we go away a lot and need to be able to just take a bag off food . So basicly its going to be trial and error ,, so my questions now are , whats a better dry food , and is my beef mince , frozen veg and rice concoction a good enough diet cheers ,,, also some said they give there dog yogurt ,, i bought some but what do you do give it your dogs on top of there feed , or just a spoonful has a treat , ,,,
  23. Not just one vet ,, all the vets around where i live ,, i'm over them , got no doubt they break a leg , get run over they would be good , but uo to now every single one of them has just wanted to sell me expensive food or steroids that they sell ,, not one has said feed your dog a balanced diet of such and such , only try this canned food , 10 bucks a can , try this kibble 160 bucks a bag , try this steroid course , . seems money money and money is there only consideration . In fact a couple said its not yeast don;t know what it is so we will medicate him and try different stuff , 2 said its possibble yeast but the test does,nt show it so buy this really expensive food ,, i was buying the stuff to put in his ears once a week , for 87 dollars a bottle then discovered pet barn has the same stuff for 40dollars now i use watered down apple cider vinigar and thats the only thing that clears it up quickly food one wanted to sell me he was 160 dollars a bag , pet barn was 40 dollars a bag cheaper but the girl there said they have complaints don't buy it ,, dermatologist may be a good idea if i can find one i could trust , but i put that to a couple of the vets i tried and both there answer was , WHY he's got nothing wrong with his coat , he's not losing hair , he's not scratching why do you need one ,, here buy this , frustrating ... i will admit he smells more has his hair grows ,, but i keep him fairly short anyway , i get a dog groomer to do it he likes them and they love him for 65 dollars let the profesionals do it . Papilon if half his buiscits and make it up with beef mince , ( human grade , so less bacteria ) and mixed veg is'nt balanced what would you suggest ,, things like an egge every now and then he has , same has cheese , he loves it but he has that for a treat ,, will admit don't give him bones he does'nt eat them anyway , they just show up two weeks later , under the bed , down the sofa or somewhere else he's hid them , untouched just hidden . bit of yogurt is easy . i thought mince and veg would of been ok like i said supplemented with kibble
  24. going to try him on just mince i'll just buy proper human mince from butcher or supermarkets , good enough for us good enough for dog , and frozen veg , cook the veg and make pattys easy to make and then freeze , cut his dried food in half to half a cup in morn pattys at dinner see how he goes , supose its going to be trial and error , he needs to lose weight anyway ,, he gets a lot more active when he gets a couple pounds off ,,, Jeez these small sensetive toy dogs are hard work , first and last one , give me the big strong robust shepards and rottys any day LOL
  25. Thanks for your replys ,, what raw meat do you give i did try chicken but it caused havoc with his stomach , vet like i said advised against it said there was too much bacteria in it .. Also if its not food any other suggestions for a smelly dog
