  1. Love the crow shot. Great depth of field
  2. They're not that rare. If I had a dollar for every email I've had about an itchy dog which has turned out to be diet related... Canidae are excellent for resolving this kind of thing, which is shown here - definite improvement on the Canidae. Another brand which seems to work well for food allergies is Meals for Mutts, but usually grain free foods show an improvement. It could also be something like chicken or lamb which would be the reason a bison recipe would work.
  3. Not long ago I had a really angry consumer slating one of the Aussie pet food manufacturers, saying their food was crap and the person they spoke to at the company was very rude. It turned out they'd taken the kibble from the bag and put it in a plastic tub, and within a couple of weeks mold had developed. It gets very difficult as perhaps they washed the tub before putting the kibble in it, with the moisture causing mold to grow. On the other hand, if a bag isn't sealed properly by the manufacturer then the food can go off before being sold - that's something which happens to most manufacturers as it only takes a really small hole and storage in a damp or humid environment.
  4. Socialising is important for the well being of the dog. A dog is a living being under your care 1st and a show dog 2nd. It sounds very unfortunate. The kelpie may have never bitten a dog before, and may not have bitten your dog as an attack. I've seen it often where a protective owner will pull their dog back, pick it up and hug it, and all this does is frustrate the other dog who'll then try and jump or grab. If the protective owner is agitated, panics, or shouts, then this can also worsen the situation.
  5. I've been impressed with Ivory Coat Shampoo - clicky.
  6. I think all kibbles have a sell by date by law? But yes, once opened/unsealed and exposed to the elements there'll be a period of time before it goes off, as with any foodstuff. Kibble tends to last a long time but it depends on many factors. For example, kibble in Darwin will go off quicker than kibble in Perth, due to humidity...
  7. I've found the Ivory Coat shampoo pretty good - linky
  8. To add to that, if a simplistic homemade diet shows improvement then after a couple of weeks it would be worth slowly introducing Canidae Pure into his diet. That's always shown to be a good kibble as far as allergies are concerned.
  9. What was he fed prior to Taste of the Wild? I'm not so sure this is entirely diet related. How long has Panic been suffering from this? Changing foods can often cause diarrhea, and it's concerning so many important foodstuffs are being eliminated from his diet on a presumption they're causing the condition - that's not good for the long term. Is he exposed to anything in the garden, is weed killer used or any grass fertiliser etc? Hopefully the allergy test will shed more factual light. Orijen Six Fish is very good but also very rich. Perhaps it's worth avoiding processed foods completely and trying a simple fresh diet for a week or two to see the results, based on venison perhaps?
  10. It turned out the plastic was within the chicken meal from their supplier, who they've ceased to use completely.
  11. The solution is thus - Whenever you find poop on your nature strip simply relocate it to your neighbour's strip, preferably out the way or by a tree. Soon enough the culprit dog will become attracted to the smells of your neighbour's strip and poop there instead. Simple solution, no stress. It's probably just an irresponsible dog owner.
  12. It's nice having your own photography on the wall
  13. I've had numerous reports of coloured pieces of plastic being found in Applaws It's All Good (both dog and cat). It seems a lot of bags have been affected, so if you feed the food it's definitely worth having a close inspection. They haven't made an official recall or made any attempt of notifying consumers :|
  14. My condolences Lyn. I'm glad she went painlessly, and I'm glad she was so deeply loved. Thoughts are with you at this sad time x
  15. Thanks guys :) To be fair the sunset does all the work. This was last night (iPhone): And a few weeks ago... And a firey sky last week... Scarborough Beach, WA :)
  16. Oh, and... Not quite sure about the last sentence, but...
  17. are you sure about this?...I couldn't find anything about dog food linked to "XP3020" on US websites ...all information is linked to Australien websites. Furthermore I used the contact button "Email Us" on their webpage asking them about the salt concentration just to get the message 'The following recipient(s) cannot be reached'... Yep, this is a direct quote from the the company on 20th October 2015 by email to one of the readers of Pet Food Reviews: So previously I assume they were an Australian company but the food was made in the US and shipped to Australia.
  18. Some of the supermarket brands are all the same recipe but with a different flavouring sachet... I won't mention brands, but you can see from the ingredients. Same food, different packaging.
  19. So sorry to hear that, seizures are heartbreaking to deal with.
  20. All taken on a Fuji X100S fixed lens (35mm) Oh, and one iPhone snappy I quite like... Some of my other photos are here - https://www.facebook.com/Perth-In-Pictures-418471518335017/
  21. 100% my dog knows exactly when he's done something he knows is wrong. I know by his behaviour he's done something naughty before I find out what he's done. He'll walk to the back door in anticipation that he's about to be told off and sent outside to think about his actions. It's startling.
  22. It's a common myth. Historically pet food manufacturers stated their products were designed to be fed exclusively. The reason being they want your repeat business. We know porridge is good for us but eating it exclusively isn't good for us, it's not a balanced diet. Personally I believe variety (of decent quality foods) is the best way to ensure a balanced diet. Feeding a single kibble over a long period can make your dog intolerant of specific ingredients, and would eventuate to making them ill (vomiting or diarrhea) if they're switched to a different food. Some ingredients can become toxic over time, which is far more likely to happen if a poor quality kibble is fed exclusively. I rotate foods all the time and have never had issues doing so.
