  1. Get some Cephalexin for the infection and use Ivermectin for the mites. Malaseb wont fix the skin as well as antibiotics. Have a dobey here with the same problems.
  2. He's displaying a developmental lack of confidence and he's telling you he's uncomfortable and overwhelmed. Dogs are not as social as the Disney movies like us to think. It can be strange for some breeds and even some individuals to be surrounded by and immediately make 'friends' with other dogs. That is not the inherent nature of the canine and a lot of German Shepherds are not 'run with the pack and make best buddies' types at a dog park. The fact your dog was a flip over onto his back kind of dog does not show a dog that was always comfortable to be there in the first place either - he was stressed. Now his stress is still there but he's ramping up the behavior to make them go away. Don't go taking him to the dog park. This is not a testosterone fuelled aggression problem this is a dog that is not coping with an overwhelming environment you insist on putting him into and he's in the middle of changing from a puppy to an adult. There's new behaviors coming out now which are normal in a guarding breed which is what you purchased. Keep socialising him and if in doubt call a behaviorist with experience in guarding breeds. Feeding him treats at the dog park will not create a positive association with other dogs, it's not that simplistic.
  3. You already have the numbers on there just trace around with the cattle pen and then peel the contact off, voila! colour inside the lines lol Spray markers are quite average on plastic it's not porous and too smooth. If you rough it up with sand paper first and get a matt finish paint it will work better if you go the stencil route but not as well as the cattle marker.
  4. Goes in a crate no problems now no pacing at all or fence running when allowed loose in the yard mowed over 1000m2 with him off lead and if he did show interest in the lawnmower he was called off with no effort Recalled from about 30m off lead when he tried to run at a car moving in the property next door, turned and came straight back Sleeps wherever he wants at night and sleeps all night. Discovered bats fly over our house so he had a bit of a woof at them but that's OK they freak every dog out Will now play tug of war with you for short periods and will play tug with the dogs with soft ropes, starting to pick up the big rubber treat balls to just muck around with but I can see he's still a bit lost. Just going to work on birds (he will chase those like a rocket) walking out in public, more obedience as we havn't done a lot so he can ease himself into the new world order lol. And he's a massive counter surfer so we're working on that too :) All round believe it or not he's been a very easy dog to live with (Yes, yes Kirty will shoot me for saying that) It does help having another 6 dogs to do most of the work lol. The humping when the other dogs are running around is pretty much gone and when I'm home he's either laying where I am or just mooching around doing his own thing. I have found keeping this dog full of food really helps!
  5. Go to a sign writer and ask for some black vinyl they use, 3M product if you can. Contact is not made to be outside in the weather despite what the packet or Bunnings might say it's quite average.
  6. No I can see it's in there trying to ping out Kirty ... he gets the fidgets, then looks around and no ones playing to it then kind of gives in. I can see exactly what's going on in that little head of his and if he was just left to his own devices he would regress very quickly. Crate trainings going well but he's acting like he's dying when he's in it moaning and groaning, pressing himself in the corner like a pretzel *sigh* He's actually free ranged at night and goes straight to sleep so thumbs up on that one the Mals wont let him get up to mischief.
  7. Good boys get the best treat... clean the spit from roast lamb and pork He'still barely moved I think he's busted
  8. I think he's still broken from yesterday lol has been tied up for a couple of hours watching us cook now he's knackered again. Had a bit of a zoomie with the other dog now it's just easier to lie around ????
  9. Still havn't heard a peep from him... he tried humping today... baaaad idea on a 40kg entire male malinois lol
  10. Easy way to tell feel the tails. No way a whole litter of bobtails.
  11. If you are going to board take him to Pet Resorts Australia, if there's some preliminary training to help things along fine. With where you have been I'm not surprised you're having trouble. The staff at PRA are supportive after helping you then learn the skills to maintain the good behavior. Boarding and training done properly can be extremely helpful.
  12. Scribbles has been found! He was one street away standing in a garden with an old lady gardening looks like he retraced his steps. Has some wounds hes being taken to the vet right now. Phew!!!
  13. It was torrential so theres no chance of anything but chilblains. We are also tracking him in a full urban environment which was a big enough challenge since it looks like he mainly stuck to walking on concrete. Still no sign of him at all unfortunately.
  14. My aunt will keep looking but Im down in Geelong. Rained heavily so tracking again will be a bit fruitless. At least last night I got there within a couple of hours of him dashing off.
  15. I was out until 12:30 last night he was terrified so chasing didnt help. He will hang around the burbs for food and warmth just have to keep looking and have people keep an eye. I found a few pee spots on the way around last night I think hes on a bit of an adventure too.
  16. Yesterday night my aunts brand new miniature pinscher dashed out the front door and could not be caught. I drove up and used my dog to track him from her place around Greaves Street area then weaved down to the bike track around Hodge st. I saw the little bugger dash off into the grass but we couldn't find him and he didn't respond to his name. He's a 12 month old male red min pin. If anyone is around that area or has friends/relatives around that area can you get them to keep an eye out. Hes very new, misses his breeder and may be hard to catch so getting him into a yard or garage might be our best bet. If you even get a glimpse please call or text me my aunt is frantic. The breeder knows as he is still microchipped in her name. My number is 0401 389 863
  17. If it worked for you before theres no need to go confusing yourself with the internet rabble. Theres more crap these days in dog training then there is substance a lot of the time.
  18. Never put a head collar on a pup that young you risk damaging the neck and eyes. A flat collar and lead is plenty. If her head is down you need to work on engaging the pup, not buying more equipment. Dont stop walking, call the pup and keep it moving with you. Airdales may be stubborn but they were very good military working dogs. Treats and toys dont interest because they're too easy to get. Make sure the pup is super hungry and if pup doesnt want to walk, well, tough titties principle
  19. If you want just a quiet companion Yultzen and Regal Haus lines are not laid back family pets. If you do not have the experience with more civil type dogs you're in for a surprise when the dog reaches maturity. All well and good commenting on prey drive but some lines are pretty laid back in the realm of prey, but when it comes to confrontation watch out.
  20. Dear god in heaven no I would never give that to my dog. It contains Belladonna which is a TOXIN and where we also get Atropine from. Sorry but with the ingredients in there I would be concerned for long term cardiac effects considering it contains ingredients that have an effect on both the nervous system and heart. No wonder the dogs stop fighting on it - they're pretty much drugged considering you need to give it 3 times a day to be effective.
  21. Yes and no on this one. I know breeders who have had people happy to do this and no harm done. The breeder has also compensated the owners with either another puppy or in other ways. Why not let good dogs go live in good homes instead of mass dogs being in kennel runs?
  22. Rakaaz rottweilers www.rakaaz.com ... start with them and if they cannot help they can recommend.
  23. I have spaces available after Christmas come down and I'll show you how to do it. You tell the dog what to attach the value to, condition the command and then use it wisely young one :p When you first train it will depend what the stimulus is and what sentiment is attached to it
  24. He's finished growing in that respect so don't bother. You've missed the mark for taping that has to be done from 8 weeks of age consistently not just holding the hear itself vertical but stiffening around the base so it has the strength to hold it up. Give your grandkids a clip around the ear for being disrespectful ;) problem solved. My bitches ears never stood straight up either. I tried taping for a bit, OH said he didn't want me to keep doing it so we have a Womble. Never diminished her working capacity or affected her in any way so oh well, she's just special :D
