I guess I’m lucky. This house has been fitted with what they call a demand metre. The demand part is the way we use/get charged for the power we use but the readings are all done by Bluetooth. No more metre readings in person. All done from the office apparently. Molly would never be a problem and also at present she is left inside when we go out but at least we don’t need to worry that she’d bark or even run out the gate if it didn’t get closed properly. We were told all houses will eventually be fitted with these metres but hey maybe if people are concerned about their dogs they could look into this. Much safer option I feel. Even if it does cost a few dollars I think I’d rather spend that than worry about “what if my guard dog seriously attacked someone.”

I just don’t understand people owning such aggressive dogs. Such a sad, sad sorry. I really do feel for his family and friends.

You certainly sound like you’ve got a handful in little Strawberry. But she looks worth the trouble. I’m sure there is a great little dog underneath all her worries.

I agree the dog should not have been out. And yes another irresponsible owner. It certainly looked friendly but if you aren’t used to dogs or are scared of them ( my son was scared when he was little) I guess a young child would react like that. Hopefully in future that dog won’t be roaming but then there is always another on the loose somewhere.

Very happy to hear you’ve had success so far with your little one. Makes life easy when it’s all going well. And the cost - sometimes you just have to do what you have to do and you do do it to keep them happy and healthy.

Where we live now the neighbours have a cat and when we moved in I noticed that it was frequently in our yard. Not a big fan as we have our Lucy cat who just turned 13 and we don’t want her in any cat fights and also didn’t want Molly picking on it either. We have 6 ft high fences all round and I know Lucy could jump if she wanted to but she is more than content to stay in the yard. If she goes in the front yard with us she disappears straight back inside. She is mostly indoors or her favourite spot is on a chair on our patio. She’s not a very energetic girl any more. And is always inside by the time the sun goes down. One day mid winter Lucy was lying under a shrub near the patio when the neighbours cat came over, it must have walked straight past Lucy. Next thing I knew was Lucy giving chase which alerted Molly who also gave chase. I made the cat get safely back to is yard but it hasn’t returned since. I think the 3 of us must have totally scared the poor thing but it got the message thank goodness. Smart puss. I know a lot of people don’t like cats and particularly don’t like them roaming but a dog should not be unsupervised in an unfenced front yard either. I personally think both owners are at fault.

The poor little creatures. But it does sound like you made a bit of progress. I guess you just take it one day at a time. Good luck At least they are in very good hands now.

LMO, we were in a similar situation many years ago. But the difference was that the neighbours dog, a Rottweiler, attacked our cat who was in our yard. We got her to the vets but she passed away anyway. We had been friends with these neighbours but that came to an abrupt end. They were certainly not taking any responsibilities. We just avoided them from that point on and as they were renters they didn’t stay too long. But, yes, not a nice situation.

How sweet. Lots of work by the sound of it but I believe you’ll work your magic once more. Good on you.

That’s quite shocking. I’m glad they all were relatively ok. Not properly trained - no excuse. I’m sick of news stories like these. When are people going to learn to control their animals.

Good luck with his diet. And I give my girl a spoonful of plain yogurt in her bowl beside her meat. I don’t mix it in.

I give her raw beef and sometimes kangaroo. I buy it from Petbarn. I like their meat for her and it definitely agrees with her.

I’ll second Persephone’s advice. I have a mini schnauzer and feed her fresh raw meat with cooked veges for her dinner. Breakfast consists of raw meat and a spoonful of plain yogurt. She also gets egg and sardines once a week. Due to a recent dental check/ clean I’m going to add some dental biscuits into her meals as ongoing prevention. She’s 11 and her stomach doesn’t tolerate bones any more. Her treats are dental chews and dried liver pieces. And always Australian made!!! Her coat is always shiny and healthy looking, she doesn’t smell and for her age she has plenty of energy. Good luck figuring out your little guy.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like you’ve had a very sad time. 5 years ago my girl was acting kind of “off” and we took her to the vet. He did a blood test, urine test etc and it came back showing very early signs of kidney disease. Two months later she passed away from hermangiosarcoma. We were devastated as to how this can happen so quickly but as tdierikx says by the time that is found it’s too late anyway. Look after yourself and hugs to your other dog.

Really sorry to hear the little guy is gone. Shame he never got to the beach but I reckon he knew without a doubt how much his family loved him. Take care.
