  1. ATM were doing constant flat work as well ad other sruff as we're still very much out of shape due to me moving and him being at home so no training or fitness work and that's what's worrying me as he's likely to do something stupid and it could potentially flare up again last case was probably mid last year.. Having said that I'll see how he is and can pull him from runs and comps if need be.. Can you recommended any good sports vets that won't cost the earth on the central coast?? I'll go to syd if need be but it's a long haul..
  2. I've been lucky in the sense it's just been always one leg.. If he does end up retiring he'll go back home and enjoy being a dog with mum as she's always trying to get him back lol.. Last resort option if it's a beyond my physical relms.. I don't limit myself on my dogs as I love them but living outa home on a basic wage I do draw a limit between reasonable and having to not have a house or electricity I'm also lucky that Ella is coming out soon so I can have a play with her and focus while den rests up
  3. Okay to cut a long story short about 18 months ago den sprained a back toe which put him out for a fair while, since then it's been an injury that every now and again comes back we seem to have a cycle going.. I have made my decision to let him run the last comps I've entered him in and then to give him a long term brake of at least a month but most likely longer so that he can run at nationals.. I'm just concerned if it doesn't heal long term or if it is a continual issue then I'm going to have to retire him as its not fair.. When do you call it quits?? I know people have gone to extreme lengths with injury heal for agility and sports but first and foremost he is the family pet and the injury doesn't affect his normal abilities to run and play.. I'm just in a bit of a hard place needing suggestions.. I'm also going to get him assessed to see what others (chiro, vets whoever I need to see) to determine what it all is and if maybe its more then I was told initially Sorry for the ramble ..
  4. There are a few moments like that but i think alot of it was also age as she was ypung then young, fast and stupid..
  5. I know of one girl here in aus who has managed a decent running contact.. yet to see it run decently in a trial yet as the dog is still young and unsure in a ring but its not too bad tbh I know of several people over in the usa who I would pay to go to rather then SGs whilst her contacts were acurate but in my eye they werent fast enough to be a running contact.. JMHO 5k geeze thats alot I know a number of my friends in the usa have signed onto do the ST online classses and I know for a fact they are not the kind of people who would pay 5 grand and I do know of one who has had a private with ST herself so shes not out of the question unlilke this course.. once again JMHO.. the USA is leaps and bounds ahead sometimes I think that'd it be awesome to go over there and trial for a year and just see what its all about lol!! dreaming big :) Gabriella Blackburn.. LOVE all her dogs and their work.. Quiz was only young here and a touch insane shes just come back after a long term injury so lets see what happens now shes a little more mature Daisy Peel and solar.. couldnt find anything recent but his contacts are also awesome..and hes a much bigger dog 26" jumper.
  6. Tiger jack I had the same issue :) I'm going for it and praying little miss learns it all in time... Anyone know of anyone looking for a 500 novice partner happy to jump 400.. Looks like dso may not make it and I entered den and am keen to run.. He's a happy boy prefer someone strong in weaves as he can be 10 pole dog lol!!! If not I'll just cancel that entry
  7. I'm not crazy at all lol.. First trial of the year I arrived at 6am and left at 145am on the Sunday... It was a verrrrrrrry long tiring day..
  8. Im the same Discodobe I subscribed to them last year or the year before I havent even read any of them just because its too hard to read on PC.. now we have the e-reader Im gonna give that a go :)
  9. Most puppy classes require vaccination certs anyway so it's fairly safe to say that pups going to classes are. Vaccinated, even today the average agility and obed class request vaccination certs just to make sure there's no one carrying anything potentially around
  10. With the lab I started teaching him to associate the snake chain with standing and i use to manually correct his feet... It did it involve me holding a tight leash and chain but after alot of persevere he understood and even started self correcting.. I'll see if when the OH is home I can get him to post as he is much more experienced in training show dogs
  11. Someone is gonna have to explain to me this concept as I have no idea what a long string is lol but seems to be popular
  12. Pm Josuki she owns and shows a basenji I have also been lucky enough to show this girl for her! lovely dogs :)
  13. I'll just say from a vet perspective as I used to work in one we vaccumed, mopped and wiped down surfaces at LEAST twice a day. If we had a quiet day we would do it through out the day so if it was quiet at lunch time we'd do it again and each time it's hot disinfectant.. The other thing is if we had a dog/cat come in who was contagious we'd put them in a consult room until the vet was ready. And straight away where they had been would be cleaned.. Most surgeries are pretty strict about the way things are delt with to minimize infection
  14. I'll see what I can do., the fence is a colour bond fence so makes it interesting..
  15. Hes already got a run which I contain him in as much as humanly possible for me and him.. He'll stay in there for a while but will get destructive in there due to boredom even with toys and amusement cos he can see the others out in the yard and knows there's better things to be doing.., Devil dog Is all I can say.. He's too smart for his own good, I try and tire him it works for like a half hour lol the only thing that well and truly kills him is an all day trial lol pity we can't do that everyday lol
  16. Meant to, I think, is the operative phrase there. It is the judges' prerogative to withhold if entrants are deemed unworthy. Yes but then you get to the issues of it being the same people always put up because a judge has no idea what to do with the breed and because a facey person is there they assume theirs is correct.. Not always.. But hey that's just my opinion
  17. Den is a really well behaved bc except he's now digging as my neighbors dogs always have bones which they leave along the fence and Den thinks its fantastic to go dig along the fence and pull the bones through... I don't feed bones much due he has issues with them, as in aggression issues and we have 2 other dogs which causes issues among the pack.. He gets a bone bout once a month when we're home and he is contained in his run until finished and I then remove the remainder so we don't have problems We have blocked off the fence edge with wooden logs but that's not enough for him.. Lattice, bricks ect don't work either.. I have explained to the neighbors when I have seen them that I don't feed bones and could they try and keep them away from the fence.. It's not their problem so much as mine.. Suggestions??
  18. We're at EP on the 11th and 12th feb.. Showing the lowchen on the 11th and we have a dusk till dawn agility with Denver check ins at 5pm and 11pm so it's gonna be a looooong night :) come say hi lol
  19. Envious... I'm still waiting =_= I'm getting over waiting... Some breeders can be just disappointing
  20. See I have never really thought about including campaign cost into it... The lowchen who we titled even if i had never considered breeding her I still would have titled her as its a big accomplishment to do so and my dogs are my thing to do instead of sport or music I chose dogs.. But thanks for your input and ideas I never considered alot of that so its always good to know.. Thankfully my partner is alot more experienced in this area lol that's his forte I just show and trial and train them
  21. Sorry MG, but you post totally confused me Your yellow boy has a choc mum, and yellow dad...from my understanding yellow is recessive, so they can't 'carry' another gene, they're homozygous for yellow, mum is chocolate, but can carry yellow yes, but with black being dominant it can't be a carried trait, if a dominant trait is there then it must expressed...from what I can see, mum is heterozygous for chocolate/yellow...so where does the black come from? Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm probably using the wrong alleles here but I don't care) y-yellow c-chocolate B-black Dad=yy Mum=Cy So the possibilities for puppies are Cy, Cy, yC, yy, or in other words, 25% chance of a yellow pup, and 75% chance of heterozygous chocolate pups (carries a yellow gene) From a heterozygous chocolate mum, the only way to get black puppies is for dad to be heterozygous black (By) so he carries a yellow gene, this gives a 25% chance of either yellow or heterozygous chocolate, and 50% chance of heterozygous black (BC, Cy, By, yy) Bring on the biology class Kylie lol :p you now have effectively confused the crap outa me.. This is why whenever I look at colours I just look in the lines and go well he was black and he had orange and purple parents lol so possibility of duh... That's my theory and I'm sticking to it lol :p don't tell me otherwise
  22. Chocolates are definetly allowed and are not a fault. There are three colours in the breed standard, yellow, black and chocolate. Each labrador has different coat genetics which breeders DNA test for to assist with mating. For example my girl is chocolate with a yellow recessive, so to get a full chocolate litter I need to mate her with a dominant chocolate stud. Black and yellow labradors can also carry a recessive colour gene. If you are interested to know more look here. Chocolate labs have and still do have a tough time in the show ring. Some judges prefer the other colours. However there are chocolate labs that are Australian champions. And as mentioned they can be a real pain to keep in colour.. Or atleast that's what I found uv bleaching sucked...my boys cousin or something was out in the ring.. Such a difference between him and my boy as his owner had done all the right things lol me not so much
  23. Sorry smisch, but that's bollocks!!!!!!! DID ANYONE SEE THE TO ME!!! Mentioned in that sentence I never said it was true but from discussions round the ring and with a few other people and meeting other over a number of years that was my own personsl conclusion, my aunt had bred and been involved wirg labs for a number of years and i had never seen the behaviours associated with the yellows but as I said it was TO ME.. And before anyone asks yes she was a registered breeder only ever had 2 litters as she didn't end up getting a bitch from either to continue her line by which time she decided there were enough people to breed labs so she stopped.. Like I said jmho about what I think.
  24.
