  1. Maybe tomorrow after a tidy up oh is taking her to work for a soothing oatmeal bath to hydrate her skin again and get rid of the itches and a tidy up lol as we did a rough clip here at home... Atleast it won't take too long to dry her lmao.. Usually its 10-15 min on the blower vaccume with a slicker and another dryer on her head lol!!
  2. WOOO!!! We're healing and shes feeling good lol racing round the house.. naked though ended up taking it all off with a 40 as it was just getting too difficult to keep all he hair out of it!! but even though she looks a little strange Im happy shes healing well =) its all scabbed over, no pus,no weeping yay!!!
  3. OH is taking her to work for a malaseb wash this week will just depend on when he has time there.. We already have a bottle of chlorex concerntrate So I've just been making it up in a large bottle as needed.. Love the stuff!!! She had a relaxed night on the bed so something must be working as she slept with me but I think the source of the problem is our new lowchen boy who can be over bearing and licking her constantly, she won't go near him so it's a very sad time for him as well.. ATM she's IN the bed snuggled up at my feet having a snooze, will have to Unwrap her feet this morning give them a break and re wrap
  4. Thanks all :) she's looking brighter tonight.. The clorhex combined with ectosol and curash is making a difference combined with vet wrapping her back feet so she couldn't scratch it is making a difference.. We also discovered a natural itch free spray with tea tree oil thats supposed to help relieve her... Poor girl is rather frustrated due to the itch so think it may be time for another clean soon to freshen her up
  5. We've got the curash with zinc oxide going but I may try the desitin... Tomorrows task is to also see if we can find some cortisone spray as well as a cone collar as she has started chewing also vet wrapping her foot to stop her scratching the area.. Thankfully she's out of the ring, this would put her out anyway it's too big to be hidden lol she is gonna have a lovely bald spot for a while! Thankfully agility they shouldn't care it's just gonna be a matter of keeping it all clean and pain free... Little brat is supposed to be demoing Sunday and competing Tuesday so hoping we see improvement!! Crossing fingers for my girl..
  6. They are not 'caught', as such it's a bacterial invasion of a nice moist /irritated area .. bacteria is all over your dog .....and it happens very quickly! keep it dry and clean ..if it is large she may also have a low grade fever ... so just good nutrition, plenty of liquids and vet if it looks nasty. if a spot is oozing and pus covered ..I may clean it with betadine about 4x a day ...for teh first 24 hrs or so ,as letting a thick scab form at this stage just provides a roof for the bacteria to live under yes, it can hurt! Sorry I didn't express it as such I mean I don't understand why she has one and no one else does as they are all living in the same conditions, eat the same food and have baths and stuff in the same shampoo ect.. Nothing new recently.. I would say that yes she is running a low grade fever, I've just left her to her own devices, kept her comfy and offered water and food.. Sadly no betadine cos I'm allergic to iodine which is the base of that stuff!! Thanks everyone for your replys.. She's a bit more settled this evening but keeping a close eye on her.. Poor Ellie
  7. I was gonna ask who's lakie lol but it's a welsh!! Lol all good :) thanks for the updates
  8. I'm thinking at this stage it's as bad as its gonna get but already I'm noticing that's it's not weeping like it was which makes me hopefully as medicating dogs here is a PITA !! I'm still trying to figure out where she got the spot from as noone else has it and it's not a flea issue as we treat for fleas regularly and my partner baths and dries her but it's been a few weeks since that as well.. One of life's mysteries
  9. First off thanks to those few Dolers on my FB who replied to my call out.. Okay Miss Ella has decided with help of our other dogs licking and cleaning break out in a sizable hot spot on the shoulders.. I've delt with hot spots on my sheltie before but it's been a while and his were due to an allergy so as soon as we saw the signs we had his pharmacy in the fridge for him.. So far I've clipped and trimmed the site and surrounds and cleaned it thoroughly with Chlorexide and dryed and applied medicated curash powder (as in the nappy powder) to help dry it up.. Anything else?? I have Epi-Optic here which is for skin and ears should I look at applying that.. I know the first rule with hot spots is keep it clean and dry.. Poor girl is having a sook ATM she's inside isolated so the others can't "help" her but she's not too happy with me either and has taken refuge under my bed.. Suggestions appreciated if she's no better I'll have her in at the vet but would like to avoid it if possible!! TIA
  10. We had a good mix, lowchen, afghan, Lakeland terrier and border collie.. They all got on great and we just had to adapt as to what they needed but for the most part you'd find all 4 of them curled up on the back step
  11. I'd be curious about this too as I've always said if I EVER got another BC it'd be a USA kid lol they breed amazing sporting border collies well in my eyes.. Either that or we'd bring in a lowchen for the lineage lol
  12. I was told about this from a border collie person at nationals who uses one on her 4 borders and hasn't had a problem.. This is the HART peanut, hey if it only last half the time you've only payed half the cost is my theory, it still works out cheaper in the end but that's just my theory and for the minimal time I'll probably actually end up using it on the dog lmao!
  13. Apparently HART sport sells them for a fraction of the cost.. I'm hoping to order one for a spoilt lowchen soon! But to answer your question it normally takes about 2 weeks for clean run to get to Aus, 3 weeks at the outside :) but their shipping is horrendous if it's not free
  14. Anyone got it?? Would like the toy and terrier numbers please :) TIA
  15. Petcetera, Dog Essientals are 2 others
  16. Leo the lowchen and Snoopy my little terrier mix who's no longer with us but was in DOL once upon a time
  17. Those things are not associated with the breed though it can happen to ANY BREED. Some breeds may be more proned to things like ear infections then others, but every breed has it flaws and health issues the key is being able to do your research and weed out the people who don't test to those who do test, I'm sure if you found a pup and you opted to pay for optional test for highly uncommon things in the breed a breeder would be more then happy to get the test done on your pup. I have been around cavs alot and even handled a few in the ring no way would those dogs be there as a representation of "good breeding" if they had health issues that could potentially affect off spring.. Well anyone with ethics wouldn't be doing that anyway
  18. Clipper world is where OH gets alot of his stuff as well through the dogzonline classifieds... Progoom is another one.. I'll double check the rest when he gets in
  19. My OH works for a groomer up here who is sure to have contacts so I will ask :)
  20. Woooo go Xena98 your girls are amazing :) I loved seeing them run at nationals.. I'm so slow on my brags just had alot on.. Dens last trial was. Nationals and he's now at my parents enjoying being free and they have missed him so much and are so thankful as he keeps their 11mth old puppy in line lol!! Anyway Den pulled 10th in the 500 GDX I was thrilled as that's 10th nationally and it was a big class :) he also had a 3rd in 400 SPD with jason the cocker sadly we were 2 sec over time so NQ but we had so much fun!! Miss Ella where to start, well she changed totally from her first trial, this dog has no fear of mistakes or ignoring me now lol and is faster then jock so those who knew jock know that's fast at 10.5-11 he was still winning classes or placing high in them, I reckon with maturity and more work shes gonna knock him off the scales, anyway Ella gave me everything for a young girl, I was so proud of her and she got her first Q!! 4th in novice 300 snooker for a dog that I didn't think would pull the course off we did, she's come a long way! She nailed 3/4 sets of her weave poles had her first pairs run which was awesome as well I didn't think she'd do it but she did lol no Q as we were over time but still yay Ella!! Next trial is the 7th August evening comp for us so I'm very excited to run her again!! :)
  21. I know we're showing up at morriset later this month; your welcome to come up and meet up or if erskine park is easier were at earth dogging there this Sunday.. It's alot more relaxed.. Just drop me a pm if you want more details, sadly there arent too many lakelands being shown; there's us and one other who do sydney and central coast and then there are a few who do out west on occasion
  22. Im starting to think take your sister to a show and meet and greet with different breeds, if youre lucky enough you'll be able to find a doler or 2 who may be round to help you out, Whereabouts are you guys located?
  23. I have no idea to be honest so can't answer that- sorry. As far as I know both girls were being shown.. Crossing fingers for a safe return..
