  1. We had one worked a treat until less then a month after we purchased it stopped working.. Annoying thing is if it runs out of spray it does bugger all! Ultra sonics do even less!
  2. LOL well like I said we have rabbit ears and tail we use to get amber enthused in the ring., that shows she has gameness and she LOVES her earthdogging, wish we could somehow bring that totally out in a ring.. As she is a very game puppy just not with other dogs as she has been taught, calm and happy playtime kind of responses
  3. Not going this year, Dens not living with me anymore and has retired due to injury and it wasn't worth the money to just run Ella.. Hopefully next yr we will have 3 kids running though
  4. Glad my kids aren't the only ones who rule the house lol! Normally if you can't find Leo when he's loose inside he's usually in the bed lmao! I'll have to upload photos of him in the bed one of these days lol!
  5. Lmao! I woke up this morning to a Leo monster asleep on the pillows LOL!! I'd obviously moved once OH got up and he had repositioned himself on my pillows!! Lol so not spoilt Oh yes loosing the couch to 2 lowchens and a Lakeland always fun lmao! That's apparently why we have couches for us to be on the floor and the dogs in comfort
  6. LOL It's such a difficult thing being a dog here, Ella is combing the house for food as shes obviously starved so OH got up and gave her a 2nd meal.. In the meantime Leo has decided sleeping across my chest and stomach is a fantastic plan.. He's that sprawled out he has waaaasy more then his fair share of the bed and Ella has curled up beside me... I'm not winning tonight between the lowchen and OH! The things I do for my dogs lol!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one lol! Oh great Leo's snoring has kicked in lol!!
  7. So many are now just watered down, gutless shells of what they used to be, all in the name of "family pet". Let me just start by saying as far as earth dogging records can tell us amber is the ONLY Lakeland to have earthdogging titles she was the FIRST to get her EIC and she continues to work in this sport.. We train her using rabbit pieces, we allow her as much terrier-ness as we can! We have also let her run in the jack Russell races which was fantastic to see her be able to run and chase.. She has fantastic toy drive loves to play and "kill" her toys.. But she has a sweet nature with other dogs and people.. I am not totally against sparring if it's done tastefully like MissMoos post but the way the judge did it Sunday I am disgusted and will not go under that judge again.
  8. I'm not concerened at all about her behavior in fact the opposite I'm proud that she didn't react espically to the 2 dogs that nearly had an incident.. Like I said we have trained her to accept all breeds as she lives with fluffies and goes to work with the OH and spends a lot of time at agility off leash.. I know now that it's not supposed to be a sign if aggression but behaviours like eyeballing can lead to issues.. I'm really unhappy with what the judge did and I still don't understand why she chose to do it, it felt unsafe as she only merely said bring them in and spar them.. There was one dog getting very much in on this situation and then it went as far as 2 dogs almost having an issue... Had I known the situation I would have politely excused myself from the ring...
  9. I fully agree with this kind of controlled behavior.. Only if they have to sparr I think your right in also saying they're too soft of heavily baited to understand natural sparring.. Amber is trained on bait, tugg and today we were using dried bunny ears and tail sent to us from her breeder she loves them and gets right into them what's more terrier then that LOL!! I'm not sure what you'd personally class as aggressive but one of the dogs was getting very vocal growly and eyeing off competition.. Im not sure how much control the handler had.. Tbh I'm thankful that we didn't have set backs and that amber was responsive to me as she is a firey girl and having small fluffies I'd hate for her to transfer that type of behavior to the dogs or any dog in that manner.. We save the nuttiness for our agility and earth dogging where she had freedom to run it off lol..
  10. I just want others opinions as this is how it went down in my groups judging today.. Please note I'm not bitter about the results at all i knew we wouldnt place as her grooming was not up to par today. I was just feeling very uncomfortable about everything.. The judge brought us all in for BIG and straight away pulled out the Airedale, Irish, welsh and my 9 month old Lakeland and brought us into the middle of the ring and into a circle and asked us to sparr the dogs.. I've never been asked by a judge and had no idea what was actually required by me I knew it was related to eye contact and a semi revving each other up.. Amber just stood beside me and looked at me, she had no idea what was required... I dont teach Amber let alone encourage any form of aggressive behavior and to me the concept of sparring in that situation it was wasn't just 2 dogs in a line up set up with adequate distance, it made me feel really unsettled, particualary when a dog was getting very assertive but was the awarded through out the awards.. To be honest I was really upset and disgusted as there was almost an incident between 2 dogs in this instance and I don't encourage this type of testing, I've never seen it done this way I have seen some owners do it in agreeance with one another in a breed line up.. I am not a total novice handler I have handled neurmerous breeds and sizes in showing and in agility but I think in this day and age where there is so much back lash into bsl and dangerous dog laws all that is needed is for a member of the public to get footage or photos of this and it could be a lot more dramatic especially as the general public isn't as informed about what the "point" of the excerscie is I have had people rip it out of me on Facebook saying that I'm too soft with my girl.. So others can't really offend me much worse but I believe strongly that that was not required at all they were the only 4 dogs pulled out for this sparring excerscie.. I mean if your gonna do that why not get a bite suit and get breeds to chase down and bite it.. JMHO but I'm not happy about it all..
  11. Yep any dog can do it my girl Ella is 310mm at the shoulder so she jumps 300 height, my little sheltie also jumped 300 :) Australian agility is getting more and more little dog friendly with more clubs bringing in separate heights comps which I think is great for the little kids mind you jock didn't have a problem keeping up with the big dogs and neither does Ella LOL

  13. I'm always one for promoting them but LOWCHEN! Small dogs, big personslities, but happy go lucky, my girl who just turned 2 is the biggest snuggle bug, sleeps in my bed with me and OH but when it's time to play and do agility she's right into it, our boy is similar although he is a little noisier then her but not unbearable the odd woof here and there when outside.. Inside he's a couch potato.. We don't walk but if we do they enjoy it immensely.. They can be a regular brush depending on their clip, my girl is a one every so often as she is now clipped off the boy is a every 3rd day or so... Intelligent, happy small and just great all rounders, low to non shedding.. Dunno what else I can say lol! I wouldn't be without them!
  14. *hugs* to bailey!! Hope he's doing better!!
  15. LOL we went to earth dogging the other day and the had the jack russel racing.. Watched that and thought what fun wish I had a JRT.. Funny enough though they let Amber the Lakie race, she had a blast!! She had to wear the little muzzle like the jacks but she had just as much fun as the rest of them and everyone had a good laugh at the ring in LOL
  16. If he's for your daughter then I would consider it.. To build a bigger bond get her involved in feeding him as well.. Funny enough my OH had this little lowchen Ella, over the course of our relationship I spent a lot of time with Ella so much so that she is now my dog and is ATM snuggled up against my chest snoring... We got a Lakeland puppy for showing and I was like "she's your puppy" and have done as little as possible to encourage her to relate to him for all things good... No such luck lmao! She won't show nearly as well for him and she gives me 110% lol so anything to encourage his bond with your daughter may be considered a positive as long as it doesn't impact on the pack order... We found having both lowchen on the bed led to drama so it's just Ella and Leo can be in his crate in our room or free roaming behind the baby gate in the kitchen..
  17. Lol poodle mum I love your kids of the poodle sort... I just gotta clarify something with my lecturer.. If we won't have our quiz that wed I'll send you through photos tomorrow cos if you miss an assessment is a truck load of paper work!!
  18. I'd be getting them checked out as well.. Not to be negative but if your mentoree hadn't got the money for a vet check she probably shouldn't be breeding period.. It's important for the bitch and pups to have access to vetinary care.. I just hope for her sake it's nothing too major
  19. Sorry I'm not sure, the information I posted is all that I have been given. I did neglect to mention this is a paying job as well. I'll talk to him and send through some pics if he's happy.. May mean I'll have to wash the afghan though lol!!
  20. Where abouts in syd are you talking?? We're on the central coast but fit the bill with our nutters, afghan, lakeland and lowchen lol would have to talk to OH first though
  21. Well Miss Amber is on her way up :) if I'm calculating it properly lol I'm pretty sure she's got 18 points to her name lol we have had a rough year and no car for a while as well so we haven't done as many shows as we'd like.. But she's having a great time doing earth dogging she's got her EIC which is fantastic as she is the first Lakeland to do so :) and she's having great fun at 8 months old she's running short sequences with jumps and tunnels confidnetly, done a demo and was very enthused and did well.. Really she's being a dream for the most part, sponge child lmao!! So we shall see what comes further down the road! Will have to post some photos later :) she's getting so big!!
  22. Okay so can anyone give me a good training routine for a little dog, miss Ella lowchen is 2 this weekend so next yr Im aiming for her to be the first endurance tested lowchen! The following year will be our Lakie who is 2 next yr.. I just have no idea where to start!! I keep saying I'm gonna do it now I really do wanna do it to help her fitness and mine LOL
  23. *hugs* my 11 yr old sheltie had a tick last year, his breathing was that bad that I thought I was going to loose him on the drive to the vet which was 20 min away.. He's pulled up damn well.. A little wonky in his back legs and he could never run agility again but he was alive and happy! So try and stay positive I think he ended up in the vet for about 3-4 days but anything is possible!! It was a rather costly excerscie but you do what you have to! Close to $1200 later my boy was out.. sadly per insurance was not an option as he was simply "too old" by their books Thinking of you guys hope your boy heals up
  24. We used them years ago for our cats, no problems and our cats always came back looking happy. During the bush fires a few years back when they were boarding we rang concerned about our animals turned out they were nowhere near the fires but they took the time to reassure us and the Many other times we rang to check up
  25. Hahahaha No naked pic on DOL!!! :p
