Recommendations For A Pet Transport Company?
Erny replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
Your poor daughter. But luckily smart enough to think about things before committing financially. Would suggest the scam be reported. And even publicised via something like talk back radio or something. You never know, it might help to stop someone else falling foul of the scam. I hope the owner of the scam sees Karma coming and receives the full impact . -
What a tremendous outcome. Although you miss her (of course you would), it must fill your heart knowing how fulflled she would be and that on top of this, she still gets to have creature comforts. Job well done. And like OSoSwift, I enjoy updates as well. So often we have threads that begin as problems and we don't get to know the outcome. And it's lovely to read of happy endings.

One of the things about DOL is that it is an awesomely educational base that people of all walks of life can have access to and discuss. I think you should just go ahead and post it. However, if others here say they wouldn't like to see Orbit's bit "in the name of education" then that's fair enough. Lol .... if you'd prefer. It is pretty personal (for Orbit, at least).

I have no idea what that would look like (you up to taking a photo? lol) but I can't help thinking it might describe Mandela's. It is more a bony looking thin thing with a bit of tissue covering it. So, you don't use it, you lose it? lol

That works out even cheaper than the cheap and effective alternative it already is. Look out for one thing though - one of our other DOLers reported that she used the Calendula and it turned the white sections of her dog's coat yellow. I'd never experienced this, nor heard of it occurring before so I sent her up a sample of the Calendula I purchase. She reported back saying that the colour of my Calendula was considerably more pale where hers was quite a dark/rich yellow. She also reported that she didn't get the colouring to her dog's coat like she did with the stuff she purchased. I don't know what the Calendula in your link is like. I'm not even suggesting that "cheaper" means you will have this problem (I don't know where the other DOLer sourced her Calendula from). I guess I'm only being a bit suspicious that "cheaper" could mean a lesser quality and perhaps the tea is coloured to enhance it (only assuming this was the case with the other stuff). Of course, "cheaper" could just mean "cheaper" and just as good as any other. Only one way to find out . Thanks for the link, Boronia. I buy mine from my local Health Food Store and provided they have it in stock I will continue to support them and take advantage of the convenience of their store being not so far down the road from me .

Perhaps hearsay to those who don't have the experience of them. So, what, it's okay to just make up facts if you have experience in the matter? Are those with experience exempt from providing sound reasoning that holds up to critical scrutiny? That is exactly how hearsay comes about. If I had a dollar for every time someone said something that is erroneous about dogs that they had heard from someone more experienced with dogs than they are, then I could fund my own research. You don't need experience in something to recognise hearsay. You just need the ability to type something into Google and start nosing around. Results speak, Corvus. Whether you and your solid reliance on scientific proof like it or not, results speak. Results are not hearsay. And I said nothing about making up facts so I don't know why you brought that pearl into your post . There is an awful lot of hearsay in dog training, just saying I think it was a general comment, people with experience can and do say stuff that later proves to be incorrect. History is full of these examples, it happens in science too. Yes - it may well have been a general comment. But Corvus almost consistently discounts anything other than what can be written with scientific figures to back it. To deny experience and results and write it off as hearsay is IMO the wrong thing to do.
-
Anne - if you try it, do come back to let us know how it went. I don't have shares in the Calendula factory (lol) so it is of no consequence to me personally if it doesn't work (although I always hope it does for the dog and yours' sake) but I do keep a rough mental tally of the percentage of successes it provides.

Thank you for clarifying. I obviously remembered incorrectly. Good on MDBA Pacers

Well done, Skye GSD . Now .... BorderBo - I know you can do it :D. Lol
-
LOL .... thanks, friend.

BorderBo ..... lol. No, no, no. If you want to quote manually : At the beginning of the quote you type : ["quote"] (leave out the " - I've had to put that in so DOL won't think I'm now quoting). At the end of the quote you type : ["/quote"] (leave out the ") Then you can type in what you want to say. If you have a further quote, you do another : ["quote"] (without the ") xxxxxxxxxxx ["/quote"](without the ") Then you can type in what you want to say. And so on. It is about starting your quote with ["quote"](no "). And ending the quote with .

K9: "JP" your an IT genius! lol "JP"? You talking to me? (I'm "JB" :D). Lol ..... IT genius I am most certainly NOT (and I know you know that, ). But I'm flaunting the little bit I do know. Plenty of practice, lol. ETA: Oops. I'm a bit slow. You're right. "JP". Lol. ETA: And you're a dag.

Go back to my previous post. I added in an Edit that tells you what you did wrong .

Thanks Groupfive. Was none of my business but sometimes it's these little things that stray my mind from important things in life :D .
-
LOL ..... No! No! You're nearly there (and they're annoying me! ). Go back to your post, click "edit" and simply delete the oblique stroke at the beginning of both the quotes and you'll be perfect :D. ETA: BorderBo's mistake is that there is an oblique stroke MISSING in the

Hi Skye GSD. Just a hint to help you with quotes. At the beginning of a quote, leave out the "/" at the start of the word "quote". Otherwise, everything is correct and you will find the quotation comes up as you intend it. :D Sorry for the ETA: I actually prefer to use the "reply" button when I'm quoting as it will come up with the quote and the ability for the reader to click a button on the quote so they can be taken back to the original post from where the quotes are taken. Handy if anyone wants to check the context in which the quoted sections were made. :D. To the OP - pardon me for straying from the topic.

How come? (Just curious.)

Odd, I had the opposite impression - that their help was never intended to be just for members. Ok - need Steve to clarify.
-
Brrrrrrrrr ...... I don't think heart worms would develop to infectious stage in our very cold State at the moment. Doesn't answer your question, sorry.

I think (stand to be corrected) that the point of MDBA Pacers was meant to be to assist members. I know its been going out on a limb (because they are an absolute kind hearted bunch) to help even those that aren't, but money doesn't grow on trees for them either and they rely much on memberships and renewals. To the OP - I don't know the answer to your dilemma as no foreseeable solution is suitable. Only you know what you could ultimately give up .... maybe even applying for deferment from your course on the basis of financial and emotional hardship. Or let it lapse . ETA: If you're able to find suitable accommodation (whether that be a smaller but cheaper place and/or a share situation) you might be able to arrange to pay for someone to walk your dogs once every other day or so. I'm not sure what would be in the area you would be living in but I think younger (Uni?) students sometimes do this at a cheaper price.

Active Manuka Honey - the higher the UMF the better (recommend at least 15, but 20 and higher is better) but it isn't cheap. (I just restocked a jar - $61.00) However, it is natural, it is effective and you don't have to worry about dosage so much.

Luxating Patella In Rhodesian Ridgeback?
Erny replied to OzDallyGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
When I brought my purebred mains registered RR home at 8 weeks of age he was a whole 3.5kgs!! To the OP - although your main aim is instinctively to put some weight on your pup, and yes, this carries with it some importance, you definitely need to put the breaks on a little, as hard as that might be. My skeletal puppy (could fit through the bars of my steel picket fence without touching the sides) began showing signs of carpel laxity 3 days after having him home with me. Between the Vet and myself, I closely monitored his weight gain trying as best as possible to keep it to 1kg per week. It was very tempting to give more (he was always ravenous) and I felt judged by people when they saw how skinny he was. Not a good look for a trainer, I can tell you! But you feed too much you only encourage bigger/faster growth spurts. When the growth spurts begin to ease off you can then focus a little more on weight gain, although this should occur naturally as the food will be converted by the body to fat. ETA: His considerably severe carpel laxity deformation straightened itself out, thank goodness. Can't help you with the luxating petalla issue. I would probably focus more on controlling growth (it's kind of about wanting your pup to grow but simultaneously wanting to hold back growth whilst the tendons/ligaments have time to stretch in sinc with the bone growth rate - and I can only guess that this is your pup's problem .... ie bone grew too long and ligament is still too short)and help nature take care of trying to fix the issue.
