  2. My music is done but sadly I can't get my head around the moves to go with the music. I know it will be alright on the day but I need to get off my butt and do something. Between Rally O and DWD my head is in a constant spin. Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying every minute of it. Gamby, well he just follows me like a shadow and looks at me with the Aussie look that says "Oh Alright" God love him
  3. Thank you all for giving up your time to answer my query. We will be working on his right side more often. He turns always to the left when going out to fetch/flyball. So maybe I should be making him turn to the right more often in that area too. Once again, Thanks
  4. Hi Telida Whippets, Yes he does do obedience often, as well as a little flyball & agility plus Rally-O and tricks. He will now be off to have some bowen therapy done
  5. Hi all I'm curious as to how or what exercises I can do with my Aussie (7 yrs) to strengthen his right side. He is so strong on his left side and can wrap homself around me with ease. We are doing Heelwork To Music trials and I've found that he cannot do right backward movements as his can on his left side. He has no soreness, limping etc on his right side. I look forward to reading the replies
  6. Joja has a facination for bird feathers. She will seek then out, once found she carries them around in her mouth for a while then forgets them. She stares at chooks, doesn't run at them, just stands and stares. Hears crickets in the evening and charges out the door to dig them up. Is very happy to jump into any water container. A malt/shi she is not , she is a bird dog, water dog, and noise stopperer
  7. Geelong Obedience Dog Club will commence it's Rally Obedience classes this Sunday morning. I look forward to watching handlers enjoy this class. Thanks Angelsun. Without attending your workshops I would still be trying to work out how to execute some of the exercises. Thanks also to BDAG and GODC for allowing me to run the Rally classes.
  8. I casn't even imagine what went through Cris's mind when she to her car. My heart goes out to her. My prayers are that she can get through this time by remembering it wasn't her fault.
  9. Hi Sniffalot The Rally-O day at Bulla commences at 10.00am as written in October's gazette p.21 Like you I can't find my November gazette. For your dogs, well the usual - crate, water, treats; chair, water and food for you. I think they'd prefer dogs that can or have done Rally-O before I'm so looking forward to attending. I can't get enough information into me. I want to know everything and then more
  10. I'm running rally-O classes on Sunday morning's at Geelong. It is a way to show off Rally-O to those who would like to know what it's all about or want to actually do the course with their dog. Sunday week ago a club member came in with her very big dog who glomps (?) around very slowly. The handler walked the course with her dog and the dog actually put a pep in it's step. What a great indication that Rally-O is a good thing. This morning the same handler took another dog on the course. Wow, it was so good to see. Two newbies came and had a go, I think they will be back the next time I set up a practice course. I'm looking forward to the Rally-O Rules workshop to be held on the 20th Nov at Bulla. It will be another chance to go through the rules and keep me up to date with what's going on. Thanks Anglesun for your enthusiastic introduction to Rally-O
  11. Two passes in one day. Congratulations. Costume was very appropriate. A big Congratulations. I can't wait to see your routines for the Novembe Trial
  12. Nice Try Kallista. I was wondering if you thought of some way to stop Tux from barking. Have you succeeded in finding a song? How is your routine. Is that completed? I've found out why I have trouble with my routine, the floor size isn't big enough. The music I've selected has me going into a corner and not being able to turn. So now I need to figure out a way to put the routine into a smaller area See you at the Royal LOL... I know that feeling.. But I wonder what they would do if you did "How much is that doggy in the window' and got your dog to bark on the WOOF WOOF part of the song. I believe that the dogs are not suppose to vocalise that they are happy ((( when they do DWD..
  13. Jorja's bath and the use of conditioner has worked. Even combing her when she was still damp especially around the ears, tail and chest helped to dry her more quickly. Thanks once again from a very happy owner and a little maltese/shitzu
  14. Thank you all for your replies. They have helped me keep the mats from Jorja's coat. She is much more relaxed when being groomed each night. Today is bath day so I'll see how the shampoo & conditioner help. I'll let you all know how we are coping.
  15. Hi all My Maltese/shitzu's fur is so hard to keep looking nice. She constantly gets knots, whether it be from her collar or harness and general daily romps. I brush her with either a de-matting comb or a comb. She looks so nice when I've finished and then a few hours later her fur has turned into little sections. She wears a coat if she is outside in the rain and I wonder whether it is the coat that is making her mat. I have not taken her to a groomer. I muddle along by my self, having to cut out big mats and trim up areas. Jorja's pain threshold is zero making it very hard to groom her. I must say she is getting much better than she was 14 months ago. Should she have a puppy trim as I've heard people talk about? She isn't bathed very often and when she does have a bath she is washed in Fido's oatmeal & baking powder shampoo. Any suggestions will be very happily accepted.
  16. Yes, made me look to. OP are you sure the dog had two litter within six months ?. Umm, does a bitch come on heat twice a year? If so then she has had a litter each time she has come on heat. The puppies are let outside in the morning for about an hour. It is so good watching them. Then they are put back into their little dog kennel. It is the night time that really upsets me as the puppies cry. I look at my dogs and cats lying comfortably on whatever. The puppies will be well and truly trained to accept being outside but definately not toilet trained.
  17. I'm so sad for the little dog as well as the pups. They live outside in a small kennel, they now have a board to stop them from getting out. Human contact is about once or twice a day for a few minutes The dog barks constantly and the owners tell it to stop only after it has stopped. They have no idea that what they are doing is not helping the situation at all. My dogs get growled at each time they go out into the back yard. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I get so cheesed off on a daily basis. I have spoken to them, written letters, sent council info on Barking Dogs, etc. They now tell me that the dogs are barking at me. Ohhhhhhh, if only. Please think of the puppies and the people who are going to buy them. What an uphill battle they are going to have.
  18. Today I noticed a dog who looked as though it was having trouble walking. Then I noticed a car being driven slowly a fair distance away from the dog. The dog was a collie type dog who was stuggling as though he/she had arthritis and was trying to keep up with the car. If the dog needed to walk for its health why didn't the handler go walking with the dog? If the owner/s couldn't walk with dog and the only way the dog could get exercise was following the car is a sad state of affairs. My thoughts go out to that dog
  19. Me too but I'm a newby only been here for a couple of years and loving it
  20. My Aussie knows when there is another Aussie around whether a sibling, mother or nieces or nephews. Do Aussie's have a certain smell? as he knows when there is an Aussie in the area he's in. And he does love to play with them. I'm sure other dogs with the exception of golden retrievers don't know how to play the Aussie Way. So I guess my answer to your question is Yes
  21. My 12 month old desexed Maltese Shitzu is the Tartiest Tart in Ballarat. Makes beelines to dogs she likes, lays on her back and sticks her bum in their faces. Teases the living daylights out of dogs that are tied up waiting for their turn at whatever. Does Zoomies, rushes in to the dog then runs out again. Backs up to them as if she is saying come on. She is so adorable making me smile continually with her antics. Gambit is so good as he puts up with her. And people wonder why we have dogs, I tell them to come a spend a day or two with me and my animals to see how much fun they are to watch interacting with one another
  22. So true. Carpet with globs of fur on it after the Aussie has a scratch. Or when the cats decide to have a romp followed by a little white fluffy The bed seems to be able to grow fur on it Brushing seems to do no good, the fur must hide just to appear on the floor But there is no way I'll get rid of my pets, they make my day with their antics
