I need to pass on some tips. And hope they are taken in the spirit intended. ;) It's a smaller breed dog, to be honest she is chunky not obese ..... but could be one day. I just think she needs to shift some of that weight (and seems to pack it on way more than the other dog in her home who eats the same amount). Diet is currently ok, raw and some veg. I just need a few ideas for safe filler basically. (did someone mention gelatine once?) Try to cut down the actual size of meals and she is ravenous. And should she be vitamin supplemented while dieting?

Like this? linky except they are out of stock -
My guess is: First thing the vet will do is check Smelly's anal glands. If it's as simple as emptying them, stand back it is gross lol. You can learn to empty them yourself and a bit more dietary fibre should help as far as I know. BUT please do check asap, he could have a manky infected or even abscessed anal gland and/or local skin infection from hair getting moist around his rear. All fixable with vet treatment.

Wow, is Mr Fluffy such a teenager. There are a lot of matt-type thingos online to make surfaces uncomfortable to walk on.
-
do a google search on dog smegma. he may not have learned to clean himself. Any obvious sign of infection though and he'll need to go straight to the vet. He can have a little not a lot and 'greenish yellow' is worth a check with the vet.

Same, I have a singer and a spewer. Cars trips are great fun LOL. Window open works well for the spewer. Only ear plugs work with the singer.

Try making it a happy experience as above.. but sometimes what sounds like distress is actually excitement. Don't fuss on her, that reinforces the unwanted behaviour.

Poor Sweep. Shmoo I know it's unlikely in Sydney & in winter, but could the rats have exposed him to lepto?

I'm so sorry Jane. He was your very special boy and you were meant to be together. What a lucky boy to have met you.

Constant Sinus/nose Problem In Sydney Silky.

At that age they may not have wanted to sedate for a good look with the camera? I believe it's the only way to know for certain if there is a foreign body or nasty tumour. Poor lady not getting a chance to say goodbye to her silky. -
I am so sorry little one rest in peace. The lady who helped you will always remember you.

Good to hear, it's very confusing. She did have her own at some stage.

Possibly but in the whole thread there hasn't been a mention of that. I was just pointing out imho I see only marginal difference between quality foster care and an adoptive home. I doubt she has been adopted as that would mean the new owner and not Dabs is responsible for the extensive and ongoing vet care. eta: I'll just add, 'chinaplate' is the login registered by Norma at Dabs. Merna is not chinaplate.

Isn't that the same thing? Glad she is stable.

Hi she will be doing another blood test tomorrow to see if any improvement in her blood etc.. Her ultrasound showed 3 masses in her liver, (they do not know if tumours but most probably... but no for sure ) Problem in her heart it is very enlarged and she has a heart murmour Very very anemic, so was loosing blood from somewhere, they assume related to liver but cant guarantee.. i am rather confused by the whole thing but as long as she is not in pain we can go on... I will be posting her new pics tonight and an update... Sorry about her results, there isn't much you can do for any of her major problems except palliative care. I hope her foster carer is coping ok.
-
So what were the final ultrasound and test results for May?

True Mita. She at least has a chance and if she has to go to the bridge she will (i hope) have her rescuer by her side. A curse on the owners who left an ill dog for a kind stranger to feel responsible for. 'chinaplate' is now Merna posting mostly. You still have Norma's email addy.

They look like lick-sores Cynthia, she has been ill for a while I think.
