Awesome! I haven't heard anything back about the wolfdogs so this is a very happy ending to the thread. Thank you all so much for helping Percy
-
I haven't been messaged by anyone here :) and I guess you could always ask if she's had other offers from decent rescues. Or piggers. From experience you have to be lightning fast offering help to gumtree ads. Good luck
-
so is it a Wolfhound or a Deerhound? Ad says "Scottish Deerhound" (sorry).
-
:) Awesome Juice!! I had a brain fart and wrote Irish Wolfhound when he's a Scottish, but would probably be able to get help from the Irish ladies.
-
Thank you for trying. Stressmagnet, I'm inclined to agree. It's a terrible shame that two dogs from the last litter are going to bounce around because they were placed in unprepared homes. *rolly eye man*
-
I've changed thread title. :) They do state he's a rescue so we'll have to delete the link if he's not a fully vetworked 'rescue dog'. I'd have an absolute fit if one of my rescues ended up on gumtree.
-
Maybe contact the NSW club. Fifi here on DOL used to be involved but I can't remember who else. Have you tried messaging the owner to ask which rescue he came from?
-
Nothing from the breeder
-
Would it be worth contacting the breeder? The birth dates seem to line up.... Good idea, doing that now with both the dog's links. :)

Woman Charged For Allegedly Selling Non-Existent French Bulldog Puppie
_PL_ replied to Panto's topic in In The News
Remember the guy who ripped off people with british bulldogs? http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/gold-coast-dog-breeder-on-fraud-charges-over-pup-sales/story-e6freoof-1225913031430 Frenchies are THE breed at the moment. BYB's are getting undesexed dogs, pumping them out and still can't keep up with demand. Problem being, when someone wants a dog right now, and contacts a breeder who says they have a wait list or no litter at the moment then the potential buyer just keeps trying until they find one. Doesn't matter if it's a registered breeder, BYB, farmer, a Cameroon scam or someone selling imaginary pups, $5k is market price. People pay big money regardless, not realising they would have been better off to wait for a nicely bred (real) dog. Most people own one or two dogs every 15yrs. You can't expect them to know what's going on at the moment and I feel bad for them to be taken advantage of. -
Different aren't they! Not a dog I could ever handle. If someone could let huski and nekhbet know maybe that would help too? edit; sorry I didn't mean a good home wouldn't come from FB. :)
-
I've messaged the ad person to let them know of the thread and that an experienced/skilled home will likely come from here instead of the classifieds. So please don't make a liar out of me
-
Apologies if this thread is in the wrong place. Being purebreds I hope it's appropriate to post here. Undesexed dog's link won't be posted, PM for details. She's desexed already. :) But she's on a free classifieds site, just google. Posting her here because I've never heard of them and no idea if the breed ID is accurate but I'm assuming a somewhat expert hand would be needed to make her next home the forever one. Ad sounds like she is quite a handful for the current owners. Apologies if this dog is already being worked on via breed network, will delete on request.

Pet Industry Peak Body In Turmoil After Consumers Misled
_PL_ replied to _PL_'s topic in In The News
I think, while the loss of the poor little pup is terrible... The article exposes some of the shocking things puppy farmers do (such as shipping hundreds of tiny babies out of state, making them untraceable) and the retailers who claim they never source pups from them. I mean, seriously...if you're able to order all sorts of breed litters at any time of the year from the one supplier you have to have some balls to plead ignorance when you get caught for lying to customers and pouring money into one of the worst types of cruelty. PIAA can disown them, it means nothing. Another industry association will welcome them in. -
Agreed! Georgina is fantastic :)

Ear Yeast Infection From Food?
_PL_ replied to BullBreedBoy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As a rather extreme example of food related chronic ear infection is Silver By the time he arrived had a full farmyard of fungus and bacteria. Definitely triggered by food. As was the scratching at his mouth and chewing paws, took a while of fine tuning but basically he can have zero chicken or turkey, even if it's the smallest amount of chicken meal found in a lot of dry food. Silver was adopted and to this day, he will still flare up with red ears if someone unknowingly slips him the wrong sort of treat. Other than that, his ears are great and his skin is perfect. :) Inserting gross photo from arrival. Obviously he needed several meds to pull him out of it but until the change of diet it would have only been half a fix, otherwise I think he would have just been 'one of those dogs' constantly at the vet for ear infections. I highly recommend anyone with an ear infection dog to consider exclusion diet in conjunction with meds. -
Buying New Puppy But Keeping Registration In Breeders Name
_PL_ replied to sophmadz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree here Same. :) -
I agree, people cross the road when this big black gumnut comes walking down the street. Little do they know... Such a scary dog.
-
Except if they look like a teddybear they aren't exactly going to put people off
-
Yes you've chosen breeds that are sometimes considered 'too much dog' for someone wanting an easier pet. If you feel unsafe, I'd also consider a dog that looks the part (as far as society defines it) but isn't necessarily going to act like a handful manstopper. And if you weren't allergic I'd suggest a sound, well bred Rottweiler raised with kids. I've heard Ridgeback are great but don't know enough about them.(?) I find just the looks to be more important for putting off strangers, and the temperament to be utmost important as a family pet. You need a 2 in 1. :) Hope you get some good suggestions.
