Sorry to hear about Elroy. Run free

It isn't recommended, but won't do any harm in the short term. Cat food is higher in protein though. I would mix it in gradually with their usual food, to avoid any tummy upsets from the change in diet. It shouldn't go off, so do it over a few months.

Run free Memphis. :D Words don't seem enough. Hugs to you ILDD. :p

RIP Cujo. :D To have two dogs taken so tragically would be devastating. So remember the good times, the slobber, the snoring, the 70kg lap dog who let the cat boss him around. :p

There are the boys!!! Beautiful pics (as always), love the Mining shot and the Playboy one. Ralp looks especially pleased with himself in that last shot.

Linda, a very hard decision to make, but I'm sure you made the right one. Your pup will become a member of the family for the next 12 years or so, so you want a healthy, happy, well bred, well socialised puppy to start with. Check out some of the other breeders, go and visit them, see their pups too. Good luck with your search, pretty soon you will be back on with some news of a pup Im sure.

Does the breeder have to be registered to advertise their litters on Dol? (just curious as to how it works)
-
Was the other pup the same size as this one Linda?
-
You can PM (private message) Ellz if you want to find out about what she knows about the 'breeder'. Glad you are having second thoughts, that is not a healthy looking pup.
-
Are you sure your getting a staffy pup? Maybe its the picture, but doesn't look like a Staffy to me. :D
-
She bought the whole litter to the park? Were they on the grass or put on the ground? Or in the back of a car or something? (just curious why a breeder would take a whole litter out to a park (where the risk of parvo is great)
-
Was this a registered breeder? Does the pup have papers? A few breeders don't want people at their home (their choice) but I would have thought a park wouldn't be so great for a pup (in regards to parvo etc). If you trust the breeder, it's entirely up to you if you wait, but pup must have picked up a gastro bug or something?

Scratching And Crying At The Door At 2am...
Animal House replied to craftikylie's topic in Puppy Chat
How are the dogs spoilt rotten if they are left outside in the freezing cold in winter? Bring both dogs inside, put them in the laundry or buy 2 crates and crate them somewhere warm. Short coated dogs would be freezing, even in a kennel, as you said, they chew the bedding, so would be frozen at night. Buy a chewproof bed, some knitted jumpers or similar, and bring them inside into the laundry. Can't do much damage in there. Oh, and most burglars break into a house, much better to have the dogs inside. -
There's the handsome little dude. Love the bath pic.

I think it's lovely that adopted an older dog. What breed is she? If she is fine with getting up on the couch, then let her, or you can also get a ramp which is for older dogs to get up and down off couches, beds etc. She could have her own bed in the lounge, something well padded for an older dog, and not too high...that's up to you to decide though, as you know her the best. If she is doing well on her food, leave her on it. There are specific foods for seniors, as long as she isn't given things that are too hard to chew, she should be fine. I would add glucosamine for the joints, and maybe some Apple Cider Vinegar to the water (good for both dogs). Having her outside is fine, if you think she would be cold, then pop a coat on her. As long as her bed outside is raised off the ground, and she can get out of any cold winds, she will be fine. My dogs are young, but both will sleep all day on the couch if I let them. I would give her regular leisurely walks, no running as such. Short daily walks are good for both dogs, you can let her set the pace...some dogs are very spritely at that age and will run no problems, others are quite wobbly, best that you decide based on her condition etc. Definitely be guided by the vet, he may pick up on any underlying medical condition she has, and you can adjust things accordingly. Now, more importantly, we need piccies of the lovely Jessie.

But you just said she was a cocker spaniel Sorry, but they don't sound like reputable breeders at all, they sold her too young and don't even know what the breed is called! If the name they sold you the pup under is any indication I would bet that she's a crossbreed. I found the breeder for our new pup on this website, and she also has her own webpage for her pups with quite an extensive breeding history, with many photo's and generations of dogs on her website, so she obviously is a reputable breeder . I could send you an email of our dogs if this would be o.k and you can tell me what you think? So the 'breeder' has their puppies for sale on Dogzonline website, under Cavalier Breed puppies? -

When was she wormed, and what with? Worming in young puppies can sometimes cause them to have some specks of blood in their droppings, has it recurred at all? -
I would just put the chewer in a crate (maybe in the kitchen) and then let the older dog (loose) in there as well. Never a good idea to let dogs have free roam of a house. You could crate both of them (always separately though) if you think it would help them settle more. A kong stuffed with treats/peanut butter is a good distraction in the crate. Alternatively, a puppy pen and stick both of them in it.
