  1. Put him outside, or crate him. Then supervise when indoors.
  2. Have fun Karen, leave it on Auto, and go outside and get the feel of it....snap away and soon you will be having loads of fun. I still haven't read my manual, I tend to look at it when I need to take a particular shot (Depth of field etc). ;)
  3. Could you crate her in the car, and put a cover over the crate so she can't see out? Might help.
  4. I love the orb pics, so clever TN. I think you should quite medicine and take up photography, your photos are brilliant. Blab, your shot of Dash is lovely.
  5. How exciting, I'm tossing up whether to invest in one, and whether I can afford it. Would definitely have come in handy for the July photo challenge.
  6. RIP Portia. Such an awful thing to happen, hugs to you Heidii.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about Jelly Belly. Run free pretty one. Sending you some comforting hugs DA and SS.
  8. Lovely pics everyone. I'm using anything I can find for my camera, its been the microwave, the table, a stable table and a little bean bag.
  9. Just feed the dog more first before getting any tests done. Not rocket science. :D
  10. Such beautiful pictures in this thread. After much frustration over the last few nights, and a hundred or so shots later (with many camera setting changes and experimentation) I think I might have got the basics of it. :p
  11. I still don't think any dog will do well living outside, regardless of breed. Most people work, and so when they get home of an evening, how much time are they spending outside (say in winter) with their dog? Inside, the dog can be in a crate, yet still be part of the goings on. Most dogs need company, it is extremely hard to have a dog outside (especially in the colder and hot months) 24/7. I certainly never left any of my animals outside in 42 heat that we had in Melbourne, they would have died. They were all in inside with the air con going.
  12. RIP Micky. What a lovely looking boy he was.
  13. I commend you for doing your research before getting a dog Sluggo. Owning a Staffy myself (the one in my signature pics below) I can assure you they feel the cold immensely. My girl has (right now) a dog coat, and a knitted jumper underneath that, and she lives inside. She sleeps (with our other dog) in a small sunroom of a night, and she has a 2 foot thick foam bed, a single bed doona over that, and two polar fleece blankets to snuggle in as well. (she will still sometimes be cold, so I will put another blanket over the top). If she happens to sleep in the heated loungeroom, she still has her dog coat on, and will snuggle up to her doona on the couch as well. She also has my other dog to keep her warm, and he wears a coat too. She loves being with the family, but when this isn't possible, she has my other dog for company. She would be miserable without either.
  14. I've tried for 3 nights now, with different torches/lights, camera settings and subjects....and I just can't get it. I was in tears tonight through sheer frustration. The only salvagable one from about 45 pictures.
  15. Loving these pics, so much talent. Fave's so far are R & A's light coming out of the bottle, and Blabs little bike. I will try again tonight with my smaller torch.
  16. I ended up searching Youtube, because I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing. Can someone check and see if this seems right?
  17. Ah, I might have been using too big a torch, I think I only have the big one though. Will have to look around for a small el cheapo one today. Thanks Shell. Love the castle!!
  18. Arggghhhh!!! I don't know what the heck I am doing, but I suck at it. I've followed all the instructions, and (15 shots and many adjustments later) the best result looks like someone is shining a spotlight on the darn subject.
  19. Wow. Great efforts!! I'm off to study my camera manual, I still haven't figured out the controls. Edited because I can't spell either.
  20. Poor Atlas, not again! I can only imagine how painful that would be.
  21. Love the beach shot Ripley, very calming....that pic alone would make me want to visit there. Blab, I love the seagulls shots too. Everyone is doing really well.
  22. Im not sure if I got this right, but here goes. My son is the willing subject. Panning first. And 2 frozen images
  23. Love the toothbrush ones Blab, great shots.
  24. You could go the Nikon D40 with twin lens kit. Have you say your FIL sounds like a gem. :D
