  1. Im sorry to hear about Charlotte PL. Run free little one :D
  2. Sending healing vibes for little Charlotte. I hope she is a fighter, and she is at the best place right now. Get off to bed young lady, take a couple of panadol and have a nice sweet drink, that should help your headache. Im sure there will be better news in the morning.
  3. Thanks for the info. Can you get these breakaway collars at pet shops? Or at vets? Or only online? Eww! Thanks for the image of the ear stuff. Yes, the ear gunk isnt the most pleasant thing, but nothing compared with blocked anal glands. ;) Um, breakaway collars Ive seen online, not sure about pet shops. Anyway, another link to two places that sell them. http://www.twosmallpuppies.com/index.php?m...cfjdh3phkm0dsq6 (a Dol member is the owner of this store, and has very good feedback for service etc) http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=KSC Are you getting a male or a female? Not long now to you get to choose your puppy.
  4. I didn't put the 'usual' items on the list, such as puppy wormer, heartguard, etc as for me they are a 'given'. However, what do you mean by 'ear cleaner'? What product would you recommend? Also, what does a breakaway collar look like? Are they the ones that are 'clicked' together (don't know how else to explain it). Regarding the puppy pads, I've decided not to use those, as I think they will just confuse the house training. I am looking at providing him with a puppy tray in his pen, like Dr Ian Dunbar recommends. This will be canturf and will get him used to going on grass. Later when he's older (3-4 months) I will move this tray out to the back yard so he is used to the scent and then it will just be left there. (This will be used in conjuction with a dog door - once he is used to going outside and using that particular spot.) And, yes, I am getting very excited. In 3 week's time we are planning to have a look at the pups (there are only 2) and they will be approximately 5 weeks old. The next time we go back...will be to bring him home. Can't wait! No worries Poochmad, I figured you probably knew all about the wormers and things. The breakaway collar is great and most of all, its safe. A few members on here have unfortunately found their dogs strangled by their own collars when they were caught on something. The breakaway collars will snap if put in such a situation, so are very very safe. Link here: http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=KSC Any good gentle ear cleaner, Fido's, Epi-Otic, Aristopet, Herbal, etc, and its done weekly/fortnightly on your dog as a preventative for ear infections, in long eared dogs, as they tend to be prone to them. I just got some Herbal Ear Cleaner for my dogs ears, its very gentle and contains Aloe Vera Juice and Tee Tree oil, should have seen the gunk that came out....yuck.
  5. Congrats on your new puppy (to come lol). Just to add to the list also Flea and tick prevention Heartworm medication Puppy wormer Good ear cleaner (those floppy ears can get yucky) I would also add Breakaway collar , to be used as everyday collar as puppies are more prone to get collars caught on things and strangle themselves, (normal collar for walking) Puppy pads for training Old blankets/towels for crate etc I bet you are getting excited.
  6. Run free Spike A beautiful tribute to your Newfie SP.
  7. Sorry to hear that NAO. Fly Free Ruby :D
  8. Definitely not having a go CB, I hope no one else took it that way either, I just wanted to remind other doggy owners to lock or secure their gates, so no one else has to feel the pain you are feeling after losing Carli She certainly was a clever dog, perhaps she heard something and went to investigate. I hope she has a never ending supply of balls thrown for her at the Bridge.
  9. Run free Carli A timely reminder to make sure that gates are secured at all times, (padlock, chain, etc) especially when your dog can open them.
  10. Run free Harvey So sad for all concerned.

  14. You'll find when you slide the top section across(the seperate piece) ,if it has no grip and slides across really smoothly it needs sharpening i think it's still $10 plus post Thanks for that. :D Very reasonable price too.
  15. So, if a clipper blade isnt cutting properly, how do you know if they need sharpening as opposed to buying a new blade? (My friend has a pair and I clip her long hair dog in summer etc... they are Moser Rex clippers) What a rough price for sharpening?

  24. Run free Miss Mollie. Sorry for your loss Puggles.
  25. Id say she might have had enough for one day. Probably was complaining because you brought her to a new environment (was she a neglect case?), bathed her (probably her first time), clipped her and cut out matts, then today you wanted to brush out more knots. They probably hurt!! Let her settle in, you dont want her to associate you with unpleasant things, but obviously put her at the bottom of the pack. I would second what Nehkbet said, find a good trainer to come out and assess her.
