  1. I use clip collar so the slide on tags don't work but I'm seriously considering these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Engraved-Stainless-Steel-Slide-On-Pet-Dog-ID-Collar-Tag-Ideal-for-agility-dogs-/121049875222?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&hash=item1c2f228316
  2. Maybe, but I have a basset and they are shockers for following their noses too. Maybe it's the type of loo cleaner you use...
  3. Mine have never tried and they've slept in the bathroom with the toilet brush fully accessible
  4. I've already warned the neighbour about it :) She doesn't bark apparently, just whines. I was actually surprised to discover that she got upset, she's nearly 5 years older than the other dog and has always been happy to be left alone. She's getting older and seems less sure of herself so I think it might be a bit of an old age thing.
  5. I'm thinking I might put her in the garage, at least then if she whines a little it shouldn't be too loud for the neighbours.
  6. Unfortunately probably not really an option as I'm alone with three small children, so any walk would be short and slow LOL. Might send the kids out in the yard with a ball though and tell them to throw it until she collapses :p Thanks for the idea!
  7. On Wednesday Josie will be at the vets for the day. I always thought Sascha wasn't that attached to her but when we took Josie out on her own a few weeks ago apparently Sascha was quite distressed and whined a lot. I did leave her with some bones, etc that day but it wasn't enough. Try as I might I can't get her to play with toys so i'm trying to come up with other ideas to keep her reasonably settled for the day while we are in town with Josie. I can't take Sascha with me as I'll be at work that day. I don't think I could leave her inside for that long.
  8. Apparently he was a massive digger, etc before he went in the house.
  9. There's a huge blurb about him on the AWL queensland web site if anyone is interested.
  10. They are that colour if they are mature fully engorged ones, very common on lizards and echidnas I have found
  11. He's to ba an AWL queensland education dog :) Quite frankly he seems happy as larry in the house, the housemates were apparently given instructions on how to continue his training, etc
  12. I think from recollection there is(or was) a loophole that applied to farm dogs. It says the dog was registered with the council so if microchipping was a registration requirement it would have had to be done so for whatever reason the dog must have been exempt.
  13. Well I have to say I'm pretty inclined to believe that this did happen, we were out today and Josie happily trotted along beside me until she spotted a couple of older blokes with grey hair, very similar looking to my neighbour. Immediately she cowered and walked around me as if trying to get away, something she has NEVER done before, she has always been extremely confident and outgoing to anyone. This is the second time I've seen her cower like this recently, the first time was before this information came to hand and I didn't connect the dots(but it was another similar looking man). The gates are locked and a camera is on the way.
  14. I would like to think that if his anxiety settled at your old place then there is a reasonable chance that you can get there again with a bit of work.
  15. I don't think anyone condemned them, simply said what they would so in the same circumstances. Personally I couldn't keep a dog that had a loving home which it had lost under the circumstances here, sounds like the dog sitter is in serious trouble if they didn't go to the effort of getting the dog back
  16. I wouldn't ever be able to walk the local streets with that dog knowing I could run in to the old owner at any time...
  17. Maybe it's just me but this statement seems odd, I would have expected to see something like mother is on mains register... Maybe the breeder is in fact not registered with Dogs QLD and is making it up to sell the pups... You could always feign interest and ask what their prefix is.
  18. My understanding is that at this stage they are only surrendering two of the siz, the whippet and a jack Russell.
  19. Can you have someone look after them elsewhere for a few days and then go and ask your neighbours if they've still been barking? If they say yes then it's not your dogs!
  20. For the same issue I use a citronella collar and it works wonders on my 'likes the sound of her own voice' barker. I know not everyone's a fan of them but it only went off once or twice before she got the idea so it's been a very easy fix for us.
  21. If they'd only had the equipment for a couple of weeks it sounds like he introduced it at both the stores but didn't actually train his staff in the proper use of it.
  22. Are they actually offering papers with the pups? Maybe they are unregistered BYBers who have managed to source papered dogs which they breed, if so it's nothing to do with the registration body.
