The kennel is Council approved by the way. This is crap do you have to let them onto your property and into the kennels with your dogs Unless you know your rights and have an action plan in place (a local policeman you know, or your local member who will drop everything and come to vouch for you), yes, they will force their way in. The legislation says they can only enter your property without your permission if there is actual cruelty or neglect evident from the front fence, then you can't stop them. Legally you can stop them setting foot inside your front gate but it's imperative to know your legislation in relation to entry. could someone please explain to me why they are taking a towel into each kennel? Interesting background story to this process indeed. You see these puppies would have been homed, but on the first RSPCA inspection, the kennel came down with Kennel cough, so animals had to be quarantined. Then the RSPCA returned and made this decision, and applied the same process to 70 other lovely dogs. Luckily the RSPCA could only seize 10, pregnant bitches. That enabled me to get these puppies support and new homes, and a successful call out to other great shelters to get the rest to safety. Full story to come, with a fundraiser to help those great carers. We are still in the courts to safe guard those taken by the RSPCA. Who have had two reports done that they must be put down asap, my reports from top local vets and Behaviourists beg to differ. Find out today if we have saved them, or if they will be killed. These pups would have already been re-homed except the rspca bought KENNEL COUGH in on their shoes on their previous visit so the whole place had to be quarantined. When Fridays court proceedings concluded, and you were awarded the right to decide what happens with the Border Collies now in your care, we cringed. Cringed because we knew your plan was the kill them. We have been asked how we know this, and the answer is simple. YOU TOLD US in the court documents. "The application said that it was in the best interests of the animals that some (if not all) of the adult dogs be humanely euthanized, and that the rest of the dogs be re-homed from the shelter to a new family or rescue facility." Not only does this show us that you already had your mind made up regarding the adults, but that you proposed the option of "rescue facility". So why now only days later are you stating that you will not allow another rescue group to take them on, or even give us the chance to asses them for ourselves. Your media release stated that "We already have very experienced foster carers who could be called upon if the dogs were capable of benefitting from housing in a domestic environment, and were safe to do so. Unfortunately neither is the case. The dogs’ behaviour indicates that they’ve had little or no experience of life outside a cage. We have adults upwards of 6 years old, and all they have ever known is kennels, yet are adapting perfectly, around children, babies, other dogs, cats horses, chickens, everything - and they are settling better than anyone could have expected or hoped. You stated that financially you cannot continue to house the 10 adults, and continue to pay expenses for them. We will take them off your hands TODAY. We will even assist in some of those costs and pay you $1000 PER ADULT. That is $10,000 towards your bills you have acquired. We will ADOPT all 10 adults from you and bring them into WISH Care. We will take over all future vet work, including desexing them and ending the breeding cycle for these ten, just like we have with the 37 in our care. Handing them over will not only free your kennels, but help you financially. Give us a month, let us place them with experienced foster carers who already know what they are dealing with as they have fostered siblings, aunts, mothers to your ten. Video was released today of the rspca Inspector assessing the dogs prior to seizing them. This is just mind blowing, it's very obvious to me these people don't have a clue what they're doing and are making it up as they go along.Things to note:• spotlessly clean, roomy kennel, with shadecloth over.• dogs are well groomed and look to be clean and in good condition. • these grubs were able to assess 4 dogs in 5 minutes, and only entered the kennel for 2 minutes. • no attempt was made to interact with the dogs, or even speak to them. • no attempt was made to come down to the level of the dogs, or to sit quietly and let them come to you. • the "little blue or grey" one who hid in the kennel was given a death sentence because it did not come rushing out with tail wagging at the total stranger who had entered it's home. • these dogs are exhibiting - in my opinion - very typical behaviour for Border Collies, they are a working breed, they are quick on their feet and they tend to 'slink' around, as they do when working sheep. • dogs aren't silly, when a stranger comes into their kennel exhibiting wary behaviour and not trying to engage with them at all, they are going to hide from that person if possible, guaranteed. 4 of the 10 seized dogs have now been put to sleep by the rspca, despite massive public outcry calling for them to be released to a rescue for rehabilitation. Our biggest rescue mission ever at 5500km and 5 days on the road, where we just slept, tried to get meals after driving 10-15 hour days and drove and drove. 1. Are these the ones the RSPCA SA are holding and claim to be un-rehomable? NO. But they are from the same breeding facility that these original 10 adults, and 5 puppies were seized from. The RSPCA claim that the 15 dogs they seized, are not suitable for foster care as "Foster care was not an option for these dogs, as they have never known the domestic pet home environment". Sadly 4 have since birthed in the shelter, resulting in 5 stillbirth and 4 puppies "humanely euthenised". Thus leaving 23 puppies still in care. 2. Today the appeal to release these 33 dogs has been dismissed. The RSPCA now have full control over their future. And further to that, 23 are PUPPIES, 18 of which were born in their care. ❤ Well out of the 31 we have 26 females-mothers included and 5 boys. Will we have 100% success rate in getting these dogs rehomable, at absolutely no cost to the RSPCA. They are not aggressive, simply scared. And guess what, every singe one is in foster care, in real homes, with families, children, and other pets! Has it cost us? YES over $5000 Is it worth it? HELL YES!!!! Are the dogs scared? Yes. But we have seen absolutely NO aggression at all, NOTHING. They are amazing gentle BC's that deserve our time and patience and a home to call their own. ❤ We have put out a plea to the RSPCA to allow us to take on the remaining 33 dogs that they have in care, and we will take on full responsibility from this point forward. Our email received a generic response. We have feet on the ground in SA, ready to collect these dogs if we were allowed to, but sadly this seems to be rejected, and for what appears to be no good reason. Our petition shows that 45000 of you want the RSPCA to take the help offered and allow us the chance to help and let rescues step in. I am a little puzzled, wouldnt they let you pay what you had and then pay the rest soon as you had the rest of the 300? Doesnt sound like any chances were given you to pay it as you got the money, dont they do that? Did you ask the council to accept what you had together and they give it to the rspca if they wouldnt take it from you? go to the papers and the tv fast as you can, adverse publicity is not what they crave maybe that might save him for you............ have to admit I had to pay all they wanted in the one hit but was loaned the balance by friends when I had to find 600 with no prior warning how much they wanted, they had my boy for 13 days and refused to return him until they had tested him for anything they could think of in hopes of finding something wrong they could charge me with. different scenario to your problem

think the biggest problem is animals are all just as individual as people so there is no one size fits all. and yep my mums dont tend to care, others do, never forget a friend who got one of my chihuahua babies I had to raise from two weeks, she was sooooooo autocratic. when she wanted attention the whole house knew it, even if it was 4 in the morning. so wanted to keep her but hubby had enough so at 8 weeks daughters best friend nicked her for her mum,they took her to bed with them, solved that one but opened another, when she wanted to do zoomies she did, except as she ran past their faces those little sharp puppy teeth opened up noses like a zipper. lots of blood later, Marilyn came up with a beauty, began yelping like a murdered puppy. snuff stopped in her tracks, raced back to apologise and cleaned up all the blood. went back to zooming, got too rough more yelps of pain from Marilyn and in no time she was ever so careful not to bite too hard. we were rolling in laughter as she told us....BUT it worked........

Deb Willett· Story of a puppy. When this puppy was with his dog mom, his mom would do anything to protect him. His mom was assertive, firm, and fair. She ran a tight ship and provided very clear structure to the puppies. The mom would not allow other people or dogs to come bother her puppies when they were not ready. She made the puppies feel very safe knowing that they would be fully advocated for at all time. She would monitor the interaction and correct inappropriate behaviour between the puppies during play consistently. There was a clear structure in place so no one was confused. Then the puppy left the mom and went home with a human. The human family was so excited because this puppy was so cute. They spent all their time hugging and coddling this puppy. They could not leave the puppy alone. They invited all their friends and family members over to see the "new puppy". They would allow many strangers and dogs to "say hi" to the puppy constantly. All the sudden, the puppy's dog mom was no longer there to advocate for this puppy yet her role was not replaced by anyone. Not only that, the puppy is now surrounded by people and animals who would not leave him alone to give him the space he desperately needed to feel secure in a new environment. The puppy was in shock and was confused. He had no one to lean on, no structure to go by. He had no idea how to cope with the stress and there was no guidance. Instead of taking up the position of being the pup's advocate and filled the void left by his dog mom as the leader, the human chose to act even softer and more unstable, weak, and vulnerable by trying to "comfort" this puppy with lots of affection, treats, and soft voices. They hugged him, baby talked to him, bought him lots of cloths, brushed him 290 times a day, and they kept allowing strangers and dogs to approach and greet this puppy because they were told this was "socialization" and would help the puppy to become more confident. They took the puppy to pet shops to further the "socialization" where the puppy was overwhelmed with lots of people with excited and unstable energy with their high pitch voice who could not get their hands off this puppy despite his constant body language pleading to just be left alone. Again, the human did not stop anyone from getting too close too soon as the puppy's dog mom would certainly have. The puppy was very shocked by how clueless and insensitive his owners were. He was used to having his dog mom keeping everything under control but his humans were not doing that at all! Where is mom? Who is here to advocate for me? Then the puppy was taken to dog parks and he was bullied. The human did not seem to notice. Everyone and their dogs were really aroused and excited. It was very overwhelming with no structure and no one was there to advocate for this puppy. The puppy finally had enough so one day when he was on leash, he growled and lunged at these "rude" dogs yet he was corrected immediately. His human freaked out over his growling. They yelled at him and then they hugged him and coddled him. This made the puppy more confused and insecure. He expected his human--who was supposed to be his leader--to understand why he growled and step up calmly to protect him assertively--as he was sure his mom would; instead, he was punished for asking his leader for help, and his human was not calm at all. They looked scared and stressed. How could he trust someone that unstable and weak to protect him? The human was heartbroken. They said, "we love him so much, why isn't he friendly?" "We have taken so much time to socialize him, we have done all the right things, why is he aggressive?" "We have been so nice to him, it makes no sense." They felt guilty, and sorry, and frustrated, and betrayed. The whole household was filled with what was interpreted by the puppy as, once again, a very soft, unstable, and weak energy. That did nothing to fill the void left by the puppy' mom. The puppy's craving for leadership and structure was never even acknowledged. Now the human stayed away from the puppy because they were scared. The puppy was not taken out so he was even more scared of anything outside of his immediate familiar surrounding. How can this puppy trust someone so unstable, weak, and insensitive? How could he have confidence when he had no one to trust and count on? How could he be balanced and stable if he was living under constant anxiety and insecurity? The family felt guilty about locking up the puppy so they decided to take him for a walk. Once outside, the puppy growled, lunged, and tried to charge at a human walking toward him. The puppy felt that he had no other option. He had to take up the role of his mom and protect himself. He had to get the person away before he came too close into his space like others had done hundreds of times in the past. The human was petrified. They could not believe it! What happened to our cute little puppy? We loved him so much, why? He was locked up in his yard for a few months and when he became too big and destructive he was given up to the shelter. Everyone cried. They tried to be honest so they told the shelter the dog was “dog and human aggressive”. He was very stressed and anxious in the shelter. He just wanted to have his space but he was surrounded by barking unstable dogs and lots of humans coming and going all day long all displaying unstable, chaotic, and emotional energy. He kept barking and charging at the fence to tell them to back off. All he ever wanted was just to have someone acting like his mom, someone who would lead and advocate so he could simply follow and finally relax. He did not care for all the nice scarves, all the cute leashes and colorful harnesses, all the home cooked treats, all the squeaky toys, all the expensive beds. He just wanted a leader that he could trust. He had no idea why such a simple need was never met. He was very frustrated, lost, confused, and stressed. But it was too late... He was not a cute puppy anymore. No one wanted an aggressive dog. After a few weeks in the shelter, he was put down. The end. Never thought of it like that, was given an "aggressive" six months old puppy to re-home. She would attack and bit, the second her food was put in the bowl. A VERY stern NO and great assistance from tdierikx, there hasn't been a hint of aggressive behaviour since. Happy, well behaved ex delinquent. With questioning, that is what they had been doing with her.....as well as taking her food away soon as it was put in the bowl, then handing back, then taking it away, repeatedly, because they had been told that is how you train them not to be food aggressive.

One day the great and mighty RSPCA will get their way, nodogs will be being breed by just normal 'breeders' who actually know what they are doing, who have put so many years of work into their breeds. (I am focusing on DogsVic breeders here. If you hobby breed a litter of whatever, your days are numbered too, even more if you've got over two entires.) Maybe it's never seemed so real until I printed out the DV supplied forms for everything (Health checks, pre breeding health check, what vet you use page, dog details, dog management pages, ect...) Maybe it's because I own a house, not 10 + concert kennel runs to keep dogs in. Maybe it's because I actually love my dogs and not see them as a commodity. Maybe it's because the cats I have know what it's like to lay on a couch instead of always in cages. Maybe it's because I actually know what I'm doing and not because I've read it in a book. As I look at my dogs curled up together on my bed because it's cold today, the hairless is under the doona because she hasn't got a jacket on just yet. It's things like this that are going to be a thing of the past. One day in time people are going to wake up and realize that there is nothing much left of dog breeds, of people who actually know things, of people who have hands on experience. I read so many comments of people wanting a dog and being told to go to a shelter. That would be fine if I wanted a huge mix breed dog that might eat other dogs, that would be perfect for all the older people wanting a lap dog. When did everything literally go so wrong in this country with animals. When I see puppy farmers promoted every day on a group I am on. When did it become that the likes of the RSPCA (who I never thought I could hate as much as I do now, I did not think it was possible that at just 29 I could find something as utterly revolting as I find that society.) would drive the rules that wants all dogs/cats in size suitable runs for their whole lives, well at least until they have had their allowed amount of litters or hit the age limit where you should either put them down (because dogs don't matter and you couldn't possibility give a damn about them as their owners) or find them a new home (because everything should be thrown out like a rotten vegetable). That a society claiming to be against animal cruelty ect would be the driving force to turn animals from pets into numbers that need to be treated and documented like machines. Now sit back and watch as the future takes away all the things that were normal once before. Watch breeds die out, watch as actual care of dogs and cats slowly die out because if a book doesn't tell us what to do, then who will." his original post on fb is on page 3 but here it is if you dont want to go looking for it. so he was booked to see the vet 20th march. as you can see his post of 18th march so they acted pretty smartly taking it the next day. I called them so they could help him and did so expecting their assistance because it had only been a couple of weeks since I got him. I had been delayed calling them because I had been in hospital. They told me it was my responsibility and I had a good old go at them for not honouring their promise. Today I had an inspector on my doorstep expecting me to speak to him or he would get a warrant. The police called me and I explained it was over a sore tooth. I haven't heard back and am now concerned they will be back to take this dog that I love so very much. What on earth can I do about this? Thing is, I live 80 Kim's from the nearest RSPCA and for all the resources they have used to come to harass me, they could have checked his tooth. I am so upset and so angry about this. I have never in my 55 years, hurt or neglected an animal and I am stunned by this behaviour.

Forgot to mention, he did have the dog booked with his own vet for that wednesday, but they took it tuesday.

Having said that, when the vet, Mark Lowrey brought me Stringy, carried in his arms, to take home, he was completely unaware he had torn trachea, severe dehydration and pneumonia? he sure looked sick to me and I did ask him "what is wrong with my dog" his reply was "I am happy to examine him at your cost." told him no thanks he is going straight to his own vet. He had to have intravenous fluids and antibiotics overnight to save his life.. so maybe things haven't improved much between 1999 and 2019?

The provision of veterinary care is a responsibility assumed by owners who take animals into their care, and become persons in charge of those animals. On 16 March 2019, 21 days after adopting Row, and 7 days after the expiry of the free sick return period, you called RSPCA and held an expectation that Row would be treated at RSPCA’s cost for an injury or disease causing pain in the mouth area, and evidenced by Row pawing at his mouth constantly, and dragging his mouth on the floor and walls excessively. You stated that ‘this was not just a minor thing, he is clawing viciously at his face’ and you said that Row was in ‘obvious pain’. You stated that this had been happening ever since you brought Row home from RSPCA. It is concerning that you failed to take reasonable steps to provide treatment for Row, firstly in the period during which that treatment would have been free of charge, and secondly in the ensuing 7 days, particularly given your acknowledgment of the seriousness of the condition, the advice provided to you by RSPCA, and the pain that Row was suffering. The Inspector intends submitting an application for prosecution in relation to what in his view was a breach of your duty of care owed to Row, by you failing to take reasonable steps to provide appropriate treatment for his disease or injury. At that time, an application for disposal order will be made, requesting the court transfer ownership of Row to RSPCA. The Prosecutions Committee will consider that application and make the decision within 28 days of the day Row was seized from you. In the interim, boarding and veterinary costs will continue to accrue while Row is in the care of RSPCA. Boarding is $22 per day in addition to veterinary costs. Boarding costs are currently $176.00, and veterinary costs to date are $207.50. If you were to surrender Row prior to 4.00pm this Friday, the boarding and veterinary costs will be waived. Your surrender of Row, considered to be cooperation, will be taken into account in the prosecution committee’s consideration of the Inspector’s application early next week. We urge you to seek urgent legal advice, from a qualified lawyer, particularly in relation to the surrender of Row. I think anyway. from what I copied and pasted from his first question he never said what they are saying he said in that letter from them. I know from one of the nice inspectors, told me they want to make it any more than five pets can be labeled as hoarding and want it made legal they can be seized on that alone.

totally depends on the cause of the itch and sometimes that can be really hard to find out. case one, friends lab, he was terrible, coat falling out, sore skin the vets anti allergy injections were working less and less and finally he was put down, she also had a purebred chihuahua girl who she had put in pup to my dog. so I got one pup for the service and so liked two of them I bought the other, by the time I picked them up and had turned 12 weeks I noticed were loving fur on their feet and skin beginning to redden. took them to sydney uni to discover they had mange, Sarcoptic mange is contagious, and most dogs catch the disease via direct contact with an infected individual. the kind of mange foxes get. Chihuahua's cant have standard mange washes, it kills them so the vet put them on low dose ivermectin sheep drench not sure what was added to make it very low dose but they had a few drops on the tongue every day and it was cured. Once cured it never returned. Their mum also began losing coat and I told her Cobbity's diagnosis and sure enough mum had it too... with hinsight she had probably caught it from the poor Lab her vet had never diagnosed correctly. as he was notorious for digging up fox dens. Was pretty upset to realise because her vet had never looked past allergy, he might have been saved so much suffering and saved if he had been treated for mange instead. case two. Cavalier boy, skin on tummy and body began to redden and get itchy then hair falling out after he had his second vaccination, vet suspected lowered immune system was causing Demodectic Mange — overgrowth of mites, Demodex sp., that are normally found in small numbers in a dog's skin. he too was put on low dose Ivermectin and cleared up in no time, except once he seem cured it came back as soon as the dosage was stopped. Vet put him back on it and cleared up again, after a year or so his owner stopped giving it to him when they moved and it returned in a few months, in his case he had be be on low dose ivermectin for the rest of his life or it came back. His immune system never normalised after the vaccinations he received for parvo and distemper. He lived a long and happy life making it to 16, long as he had his dosage, so long term it had no deleterious effect and sure make certain he never caught heartworm either might be worth asking about ? In both cases it looked similar, yet very different cause.

BEEN GOING on for decades, cannot unsee, the neighbours sheep standing in shock, all her skin torn off, so just a bright pink sheep with her side open, no way to save her.. we did save the two goats, the rips in their sides could be stitched up as their insides hadn't fallen out, around here our neighbours dont call the police, they shoot them on sight. They came back in broad daylight a week later to finish the goats off. luckily they were spotted and a ring around ensured even the one that got away out of the paddock never made it home either that time. At times like that guns are seriously usefull. it was learned all up 36 goats and sheep had died locally before that pack was eliminated, all were so called "pets" that were not kept home. or supervised when let out of their homes for "a run".

well an update. no wonder he hasnt been back to the fb page since his last posts on monday. at least he is in hospital and not home alone as feared. been asked to share as wide as possible but have my doubts anything will come of the calls for accountability for a few more years yet if not decades barring a miracle, pray he makes it. Trouble with ptsd this is just going to compound it more on top of his previous ptsd difficulties. if only he had just stuck to his two cats and one dog and never bought the second but cant change that mistake.

found out more about Alex in Qld who made the mistake of ringing the rspca when he spotted the dog he bought from them had a sore tooth. He had two cats and one other dog. When they came on Tuesday aside from taking the dog they sold him they took both the cats and his other dog as well, have refused to even say where they are. At this point no reason was given for taking them other than his mental condition, no charges have been laid. This is rspca qld. apparently the original photo i put was exactly what happened to make him open the door. I expect nothing can be done to help him get any back. So hope people can stay with him, he so needs to not be left alone, ptsd is a terrible thing to deal with. From what I have learned presently he is totally alone so pray he can hang in until help arrives. apparently there is a group attempting to get this made public in the press and media, I suspect, but hope I am wrong, but if past is anything to go by the only media release aired or printed will be from the rspca. . eg
