  1. I have an old Canon Selphy CP and absolutely love it. Had it about 5 years, it only prints 6 x 4's, but for quick prints for friends etc (without lifting my butt off the chair) it is magic. So handy to reprint immediately if you are not 100% happy with the editing result! Wouldn't be without it.
  2. Mine go out to eat and toilet - that's about it! Phoebe will sometimes sunbake for half an hour or so. They get walked every day.
  3. Yeah well I tried mine at the birthday party - they just looked at the machine and the bubbles being spewed, then looked at me in disgust ;)
  4. It's only taken 6 years but FINALLY thanks to a friend - I have some pics of me and my boy. Taken at the beach this week on his 10th birthday!
  5. thanks everyone for the burfday wishes my mum used to watch masterchef so she told me my cake was a "doginbush" like those crokenbush thingys, but mine was a tower (although small) of rissoles made of hamburger mince, breadcrumbs and egg, cooked in the oven, then held together with low fat cottage cheese icing. i had a lot of fun yesterday and can barely type this morning xxxxxx

  8. Trish, If you can email me the results you have, I will email them on to a lady who is an expert at reading greyhound blood and stuff. [email protected]
  9. Raw eggs once or twice a week, and whole raw fish one a week.
  10. Love them all - my old sook is scared of the kong - it rolls around in a circle and omes back to get him
  11. Thanks guys - silly old bugger turns 10 on Tuesday - if he survives until then He was doing a bit of a paddle - not a full swim, he was mostly walking on his tippy toes - I did wonder for a brief moment if I was going to have to go in, but when he surfaced he could sort of stand and bounce...lol
  12. Not good for a dog - or not good for a greyhound? Does your vet understand there may be a difference in what is "normal"?
  13. At our local beach there is what we call "the cutting", the sand continues as normal, but there is a path up into the bushes. After a bit of rain - like last week, the cutting gets a little wet - but usually not too deep - just good for zoomies - like this Yesterday however, the tide was in, and there had been much much more rain I yelled NO but it was too late he changed his mind half way and came back luckily he got himself out but now, what to do????? wait for the tide to go away I guess? then run across the beach and back mum, why do I have two shadows?
  14. It is the different exercise they get as well as the early desexing. It is why greyhound pups are generally raised in small groups in very large runners, this exercise builds bone and muscle. When they are broken into race the exercise intensity goes up, and they can bulk up a lot more. By two or three years of age you see the full dog. Stop the exercise and hormones before this and the dog will be shaped a little differently. It is only a must for sick greyhounds. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism may include sluggishness, skin sores, higher rate of heat loss, symmetrical balding on head and chest, as well as weight loss. This dog has none of those other symptoms. The dog sounds perfectly healthy, but thin. That is normal, given the age, breed, diet and upbringing of the dog. There is no good reason to suggest spending money on diagnosing a problem that nobody is having. I agree - don't waste your money Kirty - spent it on fatty lamb chops...
  15. From my experience, the ones homed as pups (Bart & Pia), turn out more skinny than ones who have had some race training. Could it be early desexing? I don't know, but all of the pups we've homed have of course had less muscle definition and are a slightly different shape (leaner) if that makes any sense. Some of the little girls eat three times as much as the big boys to keep weight on. Lots of fresh meat with fat, and bones, frames etc. Grain based dry food in large quantities will end up in the yard and not on the dog.
  16. LOL - It's Cowboy's 10th birthday on Tuesday, and we are having a little party - a couple of his grey girlfriends are coming. So I too went out and bought a machine - $15 from KMart. I have ordered the bacon flavoured bubbles online - they should arrive tomorrow. I think he will be terrified of the bubbles, and i fear that our Phoebe will try and eat the machine if she gets a whiff of bacon. We shall see. I wonder if the food flavoured bubbles get that nice colour effect in the sun. Probably not as it will probably be the soap that causes that effect.
  17. Urrfh - I wrote a reply than hit the escape key with the bottom of my coffee cup and it all went whooosh! From what I understand (cough), soloxine or whatever is quite difficult to dose - lots of upping and downing. Kelp contains iodine (as well as a lot of fantastic minerals), a natural source of what is in soloxine. Many greyhounds are diagnosed by nuffies with thyroid problems if they have a bald bottom, but a good greyhound vet would not medicate on bald botty alone - there would have to be other symptoms - weight gain, letharty (in a greyhound yep how would you know). etc
  18. Have you thought about tryng kelp powder Erny? It is a very good natural "cure" for greyhounds with thyroid issues rather than using drugs.
  19. Erny, if you like to study - this is excellent linky
  20. I will never be able to look at my dogs the same way ever again!
  21. Well the first response she gave me was that it could be due to having eaten a fatty meal. So I explained that wasn't the case, and I also mentioned a few of his health problems. I got this in reply " if the cloudiness was all through the serum, that nearly always indicates that the dog has eaten. If there was a large ring of white cells sitting on top of the red cells, this might have something to do with his wbc/immune response to his allergies. Cholesterol readings in dogs are not usually considered, as they have a different response to it than we do."
  22. I go through about 4kg's of raw mince a week for my two for one of their daily meals. They get chicken wings/necks on top. It is the only food I can hide things in - tablets, flaxseed, raw eggs, joint supplments, very very finely chopped liver etc. It is also for balance - oh and wet weather..lol as they eat their bones on the grass - "bowled" food on the covered deck. Other than the mince, they get another meal each day of RMB's whole fish, whole ox tongue/hearts etc.
