  1. Just in case you missed my question the first time. Positive reinforcement of your own animal. No definitions of pats or glides either. Never been a head thumper myself I love it when people read threads properly Oops. Ah ok, thanks for that. Your own dog and positive reinforcement I can't see an issue with doing it. Having said that, I prefer to give mine a big pat on the side or back, but that's cause my dog is spring loaded and will often get over excited if I patted him on the head.
  2. Just in case you missed my question the first time.
  3. Did you give your boy a run? How did he go? How did Bundy go Menacebear? Did he whip up some enthusiasm? Yep Billy was in all 3 demos doing full runs and a recall. First run he missed one jump and the rest he did perfect full runs. Was very proud of him. Bundy was ace. He did wonderful recalls.
  4. Was it in the context of meeting a new dog, or a dog that you are quite familiar with. I think a little more clarity is warranted before people can truly comment.
  5. The women, or the stafford Funny girl.
  6. Did anyone see the flyball demo's today??? I thought the stalls were crap (the retail ones), I came home with fudge
  7. haha I was going to order one also - glad I saw your mistake before I did, or I would have been a silly goose aswell.
  8. Corvus - you obviously dislike Steve and his principles, fair enough. Not everyone agrees nor gets along, but being negative and trying to rebutt everything he says isn't going to help you. I train my dogs at 2 different clubs and whilst I don't agree with everything at either one, I take away the things that will work for me and combine both of them. Your mind seems to be closed to everything besides your own ideas - this is not a great learning practice. I attended Steve's seminar in Melb and enjoyed it and learnt alot - did I end up doing drive training with my dog - NO. Why, because it is something that you need to be fully committed to and understand completely. I didn't have the time to put it fully into practice (4 kids) and I didn't quite get my head around it completely. I did however take away an amount of things to put into practice that wasn't just drive stuff, and I believe this has helped my relationships with my dogs. Having said that, I have seen the radical change in Shoemonster's, Eddie. To me he is a completely different dog, for the better and that is owed to all the work that Shoemonster has put in and the ongoing support she has had from Steve.
  9. It would be similar to introducing a tug as a motivator. You need to make them really really want it, that way they are more focused. So they only get the tug on your terms and other times it is put away. My understanding from what I got from attending Steve's seminar thingy, was that you need to build up the want, and need to do the training with your dog. If you dog has been out and about all day doing other stuff, then they are less likely to be completely focused on the building up of drive. Corvus - if you are this interested in drive training, why don't you do Steve's distance course, or attend a seminar as you seem to have quite a blurred vision on the right way to do this. From my understanding, if you commence drive training and have no real idea on how to go about it, you can do more bad than good.
  10. She was actually married to Harry Potter and he met his demise a couple of weeks ago.
  11. Barbie :D But then the truth comes out - he was encouraged to attack and even has some assistance RIP Barbie, there is no coming back from this
  12. Word of warning to all with Oztrails. I have seen 6 or 7 over the last couple of weekends buckle under the weight when the canopy fills up during rain. The frames just crumbled and were basically thrown away due to the damage... Anything will buckle thats why you need to ensure any huge gatherings are removed. We do when it gets bad but its very rare In my experience, it is more the Oztrails than any other brand. Mind you, these were all left unattended during rain, so totally different story if you are there keeping an eye on it. We emptied it as soon as it filled, it was midnight on new years eve in the middle of the bush and it just started bucketing down. So we were off trying to get other stuff out of the rain, it wasn't intentionally left to collect.
  13. Yeah contact them. Mine is a deluxe also.
  14. Mine is - we used it in a huge downpour when we went camping at New Years. Didn't leak a bit, infact it actually filled up on the roof bit due to how heavy it was, and we had to push it up from underneath to tip it out.
  15. Oh LOL I saw the title of this thread and thought 'oh I must ring up my hairdresser and get my roots done' :D Can't help with the hair issue, but goodluck on finding a solution.
  16. Ohhh exciting, I reckon I might be in for this one. Already have a good idea for some of them.
  17. Haha, definately not a stafford, they are generally inside soaking up the air con - or in winter sitting under the ducted heating.
  18. Wow I remember when she got him, I wouldn't have thought he was that old. Gosh time flies. Run free Tobie.
  19. Paulp, the one near Bunnings is Narre Pets and Produce. They sell pets though. I would recommend Petstock in Cranbourne, or Robbo's in Dandenong. Robbo's is a drive in pet supply store, my kids love that fact.
  20. Haha give him a plant pot - that will make him happy
  21. You should get a new PDS if the details of the insurance has changed. If you did not read it, then it is your problem. If they did not make you aware, then ring the ombudsman for sure.
  22. lilli - are you saying that you don't think that there is an oversupply of pets??
  23. Well for the greater good you are just going to have to get your dogs vaccinated each year despite your own volition and veterinary health care advice, notions of your dogs health because this is how we get all the naughty dog owners to do the right thing. But dont fret! just think how good it will feel to know that you are doing your part to stop the overpopulation and suffering of pets. I do anyway despite my beliefs - have to for flyball and obedience training.
