I was also going to ask this.

One of my JRT's does this. He sits and barks for no reason except just for being bored. I find if I don't change toys often enough or give enough exercise he just finds way's to entertain him self. He is not the most confident dog and as such I would never consider putting an anti-barking collar on him. Nor would I a 6 month old puppy. Are they doing obedience training?

We didn't go . Millie has been a bit sore through the back end over the last week. If she was moving OK we would have gone but she is still a little iffy. It wasn't worth going with the ground being so hard. We will rest until the Wei Trial. On a happy note, my aunty got her third pass in CCD down there Her little sheltie works great, she will be into Novice in no time.

I was meant to go to an agility trial last friday but had to scratch . Off to the beach this weekend and then it is obed trialling/ agility trials up until mid march I think i'd rather be at the beach than at a dog show too We will have to meet up sooner or later

Um, yes. BUT CCD dogs are competing against their own set of exercises, and so are the other classes. Whichever dog performs better on the day for their own exercises should be the "winner" of Highest in Trial. -WithEverythingIAm PS - It's only HARDER to get 190 in Open than 95 in CCD, because of the fact the exercises are more difficult in Open. So of course it will be harder. It's just common sense really? -WithEverythingIAm Yes I do reslise that. Please excuse me if I am coming accross half witted, that was not my intention. I am only after opinions on what other clubs are doing.

We did speak to her about it at our last trial in November. Might be worth contacting her again, thanks for the suggestion

This is what I am trying to find out. You just made it a lot easier to understand. The point that some members were pushing is it's a hell of a lot harder to get 190 in say Open or UD that it is to get 95 in CCD. I have only trialed a couple of time (in CCD) so I'm not expert on the matter. I just wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks for your reply

Very good point about changing the award name guys, I didn't think of that and I don't think anyone else did either. I know Encouragement was always excluded but now that it's CCD and a title, some don't want to exclude it. An example from our last trial (This was for our Highest scoring member) A lady in CCD had a great pass of 96/100 A lady in Open had her first pass with a great score of 187/200 IMHO Open should have won plainly because of the work involved, but CCD won (the CCD winner was my aunt so I was happy for her anyway ) Thanks for the input

I am after some feedback on how other clubs go about deciding their Highest Score In Trial. We had a discussion about this at our club at the last meeting and no-one aggreed. Some were pushing the point that CCD should be excluded as based on a %, they would win it just about each time. Say is I had a pass of 95/100 in CCD and someone in UD passed with 190/200, CCD wins it. Many are saying UD works harder and should deserve it more that the CCD winner. I am not sure either way as yet, but in the above instance, I would feel bad taking highest score in trial over a 190 in UD Someone brought up a sum you can do to even it out (x 100 divide 200, or something like that). Do any clubs use a silmilar calculation? I would find it hard to expect other clubs to work these sums out for another clubs highest scoring ribbon. If this topic has already been done, please let me know as I couldn't find anything. Look forward to hearing other opinions

My mum is entered in UD with our Weim girl Millie.....chassing those dreaded OC passes We are showing in the morning (not Millie ) then depending on the weather I am droping her off at the trial later in the day.

I can't let the JRT's play with ours unsupervised as it would be skinned pretty quick.

That head but cracked me up too... My Jacks go nuts for those balls, we have two furry yellow ones.

I have heard that most PPS's are like that in my area now. When I first had Pippa at PPS, the class was split into two groups, for big puppies and small puppies. The sessions went for 45 minutes over 3 weeks and about 80% of this time was spent letting the dogs interact with the other puppies and playing with different toys. We done a little training, like trying to get your puppy to focus on you for 1/2 a second. And we were given homework like making your puppy a toy from materials at home. I really enjoyed it. I was going to go back with my new puppy but when I was told what they were doing, I decided to save my $120 (yep $120 :D ) and socialise my puppy elsewhere.

My JRT's went crazy when I first opened the bag. They loved it I have them on Duck & Oatmeal at the moment but I think they prefered the fish so I am swapping them back next time.

Oopps.....I forgot about the Weis Our boy gained his Tracking Championship this year making him a Dual Ch. Our older girl gained her UD title, my mum handles her and if she gains those last five passes in UD for OC she will be the first Triple Champion Wei in the History of the breed in Auz. Fingers crossed for next year

I would have to say my JRT girl gaining her Dual Championship title. I still haven't applied for an animal report but as far as we know Pippa is the first JRT with her Tracking Champion Title On top of that I would also add that I am extreamly happy that we made it into the Obedience ring this year. We didn't pass but the fact that we had a go was a great feeling. It's obedience all the way next year.....

I wanted a small breed with attitude + which I could show and do obedience, tracking & agility. I found myself a Jack Russell Terrier and they are perfect for all the above! I am also going to have a crack at Earth Dog next year which is something I would never have thought of when looking for a breed.

Erny, I'm not quite sure how to read your last post, you quoted me saying I was going to call the VCA again. This is just to clarify for our clubs sake where we stand if an APBT was to come down to the club. As I have said I would not turn away any person or dog who comes down to the club to seek advice and training. I in no way took offence to your previous post and did not think you were bagging out the VCA. In fact last time I spoke to them on this matter they were pleased that owners of the breed were seeking out training for their dog. If this is correct, I would have to say I completly agree.

I am still trying to find this out. I rang the VCA regarding this last time the topic was around. I was told they have no such rule This was only about 2 months ago. Our obedience club (VCA affiliated) has a slogan 'All breeds welcome'. If this rule is correct we will have to change it. I do not agree with it as I think all breeds should be trained to at least basic obedience and if we are not allowed to train them where do they go?? I may just give the VCA another call
