I've just booked Morgan in to see Neil tonight. At show training last night Luci found that her back was out which was why she wasn't stacking properly.

Not cocker meets - but there are quite a few of us with cockers. Come to the Breed Sub Forums and find the cocker thread and chat to us there. I groom my cocker at home, hes due for a trim now actually.

Group Dog Training North Shore Sydney

Has anybody done obedience training here? I think Poocow who is on this forum used to do agility there not sure about obedience but she would be familiar with the club. They use food rewards or at least that is what they told me when I enquired. I am not sure if they are open to other things like tugs etc. I still go to agility there - just not every week as it is quite a trek. Don't do any obedience at the moment. They use food rewards but they are fine with you using a tug reward as well. -

Its full of preservatives and god knows what else. Just buy some diced beef if thats what you want her to have. Or get some steak and dice it up yourself. Alternatively get some pet chicken mince from leonards or another chicken shop.

Hi poocow, Try Challenge Dog supplies in Pittwater Road, Brookvale. They have huge variety and very reasonably priced. Are they open on the weekend?
-
Yeah I didn't want to buy something cheap - happy to spend the money for a quality product.

Thank you both Just thought I'd ask for what brands people prefer as I have no idea how to choose between them!

Hello good people of DOL! Just want some recommendations on scissor brands and what length would be suitable for grooming a Field Spaniel. Need to purchase - straight, curved and one-sided thinning Cheers!

Not as yet sorry -
Darcy quite happily carries around both his giant fleas without ripping them up. Poor egg baby dinosaur cannot say the same Darcy decided that there needed to be another exit in its back

I understand that everyone has the right to an opinion, and of course not everyone is going to like the same types of dogs, but have to say that this is a definite overgeneralisation of the breed. Perhaps the "type" of owners should be looked at rather than the breed of dog. Are the owners of these dogs ones that don't spend much time with their dogs, training etc and see daycare as an alternative to interacting/training their pets. Are they including them as part of the family? There are types of dogs that I don't like due to interactions that I've had with them, however I wouldn't ever say that all dogs of that breed are the same, as I'm sure for every bad one i've met there, would be a great one out there, so how would it be fair of me to say that every dog from that breed fits into the same box or deserves that label It may be an overgeneralisation of the breed but I'm going to back Kavik up here. I managed a dog boarding kennel and over the years met hundreds and hundreds of different labs. I doubt you'd find a kennel worker out there who doesn't have labs at the top of their list to stay away from. Don't get me wrong Scout is lovely, but a lot of people see Labs as a great family dog (which they are) and don't spend the time training them. Its then that problems go wrong. My own aunt was one of those people that bought a lab and really shouldn't of - shes never listened to me regarding dogs. They rehomed their last dog (a lab) at 12 months because she was uncontrollable.

My BC does it too when hes excited, he can just be sitting there doing nothing and he will do his snap jaws. Hes never tried to bite anyone, I just took it as an excited thing.

Yes I fell in love with a Goldie called Macca - he was a permanent resident at the kennel, probably still there I secretly wanted to go steal him one night but its slightly illegal  Hes developed HD as well from living on concrete 24/7 too I miss my boy so much. There was rumour the owners wanted to rehome so I started sussing it out but it was just a thought - my ex-bosses turn against anyone that leaves the kennel so I'm not a popular person now. Macca was so easy to train as well, just loved to work with me, taught him lots of tricks. So good natured as well. Working in kennels turned me off labs and staffys for life. Thats not saying I haven't met some lovely labs, but I would never own one. As for the person who mentioned BCs being smart - want Toppy? Hes the dumbest thing on this planet, I think hes actually got mental problems from being abused in his past life.
