  1. Its heartbreaking to see her so skinny, people really do suck Thanks for the link will have a read I realise its only been a day, just worried with her not eating as she cant afford to loose any more weight. I do worry to much also. I dont have a choice with the coat as she is so matted that she couldnt stretch or walk correctly due to mats, so she is slightly bald today and will be finished off tomorrow at the groomers and the smell of urine and feaces is enought to make you reach. So hopefully after a bath and clip she will start to feel better and start to eat
  2. I have a 3yr old Old English Sheepdog that has been surrendered. She has been bred continually She weight 18kilos and desperately needs to gain weight. I have wormed her and must admit I have never seen poo walk by itself she is riddled with worms. She has no interest in food, her teeth are not the best but her gums are pink. How can I encourage her to eat, how much and how often please? I have never had a dog that is staving and when given food not eaten it. I don’t want to over load her as food hasn’t been a big priority for a while. I have tried roast chicken, mince both chicken and beef, even cat food, nutro dry soaked, lamb bones and nutrigel has to force some of that in her mouth and then I could only get her to swallow a small meat ball of mince but she don’t like being handled at the moment. I don’t want to frighten her any more then possible at the moment. I have only had her for 24hrs She has been to the vets for a basis check up and is going back tomorrow for blood work etc Any help would be appreciated.

    Victoria

Dru, I dont come in this section as its to painful but when I saw Victoria's name, my heart sank. I am so sorry to hear of Victoria's passing. Glad that you were able to be with her before she left this world for her next adventure.
  4. Yep still there I was out there a while ago and they had a very large wash area that you would fit a Saint in, the lady using it at the time was washing a mastiff.
  5. if anyone lives on the western side of melbourne, the Biaida chicken place pipe road laverton has great prices for chicken frames, necks. 6 kilo box of necks $9 6 kilo box frames $6 and if you join there club its free you also get 5% off everything as well. Worth it if you buy in bulk
  6. my dogs also love them. I find that the Yorkies actually crawl into them and eat there way out, its quite funny to see a chicken frame walking around the back yard but god help any otehr dog that goes near a yorkie with a chicken frame....... I buy mine from a chicken factory and they are real cheap, mine also love the wings and neck.
  7. My groomer is alway busy and does a great business. They also run specials where its $10 baths short coated and a bit more for longer coated dogs and everyone loves that. For maltese and the multi mixes of crosses that everyone seems to have its only $40 for a bath, clip, blow dry. I know I am spoilt and do appreciate it. I also fully understand that its a business and that you have to make a living out of it. Talking to people at work about grooming there dogs and most wont pay $40 plus to have their dog groomed.
  8. I had better be extra nice to the groomer who does my crew especially the OES's or Im buggered at those prices. Granted I take mine every fortnight. I usually take 2 oes, 1 hungarian puli full cords and 3 yorkies all in full coat and 2 ccs and its always only $70 if that. Its a social outing and my crew love it and the big guys adore there play session they get after there baths Thats full brush out, wash, dry, nails if needed, puli oiled once washed. Usually any rescue dogs are a extra $10 unless its a oes or bigger and then its $15 Just realized how much I love my groomer
  9. if you can find an old concrete laundry tub they are brilliant keep the water cool and the chance of him knocking it over are remote. Or if you cant find one an old bathtub depending on how big the run is or a shell pool put in the corner of his run and wired to 2 sides of his run should in theory stop his from tipping it over and if he is only playing its gives him plenty of water to play in I have 6 shell pools around my yard and they only last about 1/2 day but then there are 4 large hairy gremlins that love water
  10. I was once quoted $150 for each of my OES needless to say I did them myself. That was from Jims dog wash in Templestowe Vic a few years ago and they were all in short clipped coats I have found that it varies a lot between states and groomers a few groomers put high prices on large breed as they just dont want to do them. I am now spoilt again being back in melbourne as my groomer does all of my dogs for $50 once a fortnight, gotta love him
  11. I have a CC that is a bugger she is only 5 months old and driving me nuts. She is a bossy young thing and doesnt learn. She is 2.4kilos and is forever dragging my yorkies around by the stump or tail. They growl and in the end a fight happens but she always wins as she a whoppa where they are concerned the biggest Yorkie is only 1.5kilos and smallest is 1.1 kilo he is the one she picks on the most. He is terrified of her now and has sores on his tail I have been separating them for quite a while now and she is very opinionated and barks and digs her way out just to get to the others and play. It always starts as a play time but she has to push her limits and doesnt seem happy unless she is hurting the others. She also picks on the bigger dogs, they growl and will push her away but she will still annoy the hell out of them, she is very lucky they are gentle toward all little people, but she keeps pushing her limits. My boy that is 55kilos held her down yesterday by putting his paw on her coat, she screamed like a banshie but as soon as he let her go she went for his beard. I have them crated at night and they are allowed supervised play and all is fine for a short time then she starts being a bitch. Its like the yorkies can be play together and she will come from nowwhere and take one down and hold then down and she shake who ever she has caugh which is usually the little boy I have seperated her and crated her when she first started this behaviour in the laundry so she is away from all distractions, I have used a spray bottle to squirt her (she loves that game), growled at her, brough the others inside and left her out, thrown things over her head if she is to far away to get her attention, while growling or swearing depending. At time I admit I am not sure if its all a game to her or she is wanting to be top dog. She also chases the cats and doesnt matter how many times they smack her she hasnt learnt. I admit she is the first dog I have had that is always pushing the limit, I have never even had a rescue dog with such attitude as she has. I think I could also be part of the problem as with her being hairless I am more concerned about her being hurt and the size of my yorkies I do intervene quicker. When she is outside she sits on top of the out door table and will jump at the others when they walk pass, when inside on the couch with me she will try to sit on the top of the couch so she is at my head height. Its like she really wants to be top dog So questions are what can I put on my little people to make them taste bad? What can I do to teach her not to be such a bitch? Are some dogs just real bitches?
  12. Sounds like she needs a complete vet check just to make sure there is nothing wrong and if there is to get on top of it quickly. Good luck and I hope all works out well
  13. I have thought of making my own but was worried that I would do it wrong and they would end up missing out on vitamins and essential stuff they need. I have read the book but still get confused.
