Philanthropist Businesswoman Jan Cameron Is Funding A Multi-million-do
Clyde replied to Quickasyoucan's topic in In The News
I think it's important to note that the cost of desexing is already somewhat reduced by vets themselves. Compare the cost of a spey to the cost of abdominal surgery and you'll find that they're significantly different yet somewhat similar surgery. Great idea of Ms Camerons though, it makes me want to support Kathmandu in the future -
She sounds as though she was simply fascinated, which I think is fair enough. She's probably got a very scientific mind and was only trying to help. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the consult TBH until she started palpating the dogs hips hurting him, it was unnecessary as the dog wasn't there for that. I've had vets who I just haven't clicked with and have rubbed me up the wrong way, just human nature. CWEW a friend of mine had a bad experience with a new vet there once and she emailed the clinic to let them know. It helped as it made the clinic aware, as it turns out other complaints started flowing in too and I didn't ever see the new vet there again. I can't even begin to tell you how seriously they take their clients needs there.

Don't you just love puppy kisses? I've had a couple pf pups with copraphagia, pineapple didn't work for me but they eventually grew out of it. Not nice at all though, especially when it's done twice!

I think I know which clinic you mean, I used to nurse there :D I know the practice partners would be horrified to hear you weren't happy with the consult as they are a very professional clinic. I tend to just stick to the long termers there, much easier. Hope his ears get better!

TBH I think it's a really good incentive directed at Joe Public. I personally, would of course find another vet, but I can see that this also has a big positive too.

Vebo Pets. I bought a few of these for work and they are going great. Ive had one sitting outside in the weather for 8 months and it still looks almost new.

We've just had it in our local area and my guys got it. We actually picked it up from the vets. Right as rain now though, nothing to panic over

I'm not sure what you mean about the rubber fit over style? I just get mine from Bunnings and take the water saver out.

Foster Bc Showing Aggression To All Our Animals
Clyde replied to Inspired1's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I wouldn't expect any visiting dog to be good with a pig or a rabbit. I have resigned myself to the fact that any future dogs will have to be from pups as I have other animals here that would just be too tempting to an adult dog. Good on you for trying anyway -
I don't know any preventive that doesn't have side effects. IMO the side effects of getting a tick is far worse than any *possible* side effect from a prevention. I used Proban on over 6 pets for many years with no problems. They would be on it all summer and spring, then Advantix over Autumn and Winter. I am sure that there have been side effects recorded but even my vet (well known and accomplished) has not come across any problems with the use of Proban. TBH I know of more reactions to the spot ons. I have lost two dogs to ticks, and almost lost a cat, despite prevention so I know I have a bit of a 'whatever it takes' train of thought. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

I'm surprised any Club up the Beaches has allowed the use of a prong. Good on them though for being more open minded

I'm not a fan of Frontline at all, it's let me down way too many times. I agree with Ams re Advantix and cats - just be sensible and you should be fine. Many years ago stupid me accidentally put a large breed dose of Advantix on one of my cats and went out for the night. Came home to him seizing and managed to get him to emergency in time. Over a week later he was back home but he has never been the same.

You could leave them here but you'd have only 10% chance you'd get them back.

If you part the hair and put it on really slowly in three sections down their spine you won't notice it at all. This is how I apply it and you can't tell even on my Stafford (very short hair). I have used both with good results. If you do use Advantix, as the poster above said, you can double it up with a collar but from memory only one of the two main brands can be used with Advantix so check with your vet first (or here as Im sure someone will remember it). In particular check their heads, behind ears, eye rims, behind their front legs etc - basically from their shoulders forward is the most common spot for ticks. I have however found them everywhere but 80% of the time they are at the front of the dog.

A lot of people on here use Pax's kennels and keep going back for more! Enjoy your holiday

Just use one or the other rather than both. Any reason you were wanting to use both?

Cheapest Titre Testing In Sydney?

Stormies work seems to be really competitive. I think Pennant Hills??? -
There is no way I would take my child there. It doesn't sound like a very relaxing holiday to always have your child underfoot. I was be too worried to relax.

Anyone Know A Vet That Stocks/uses Nobivac In Western Sydney?
Clyde replied to Merrirose's topic in General Dog Discussion
Most vets will order it in for you. I know Gladesville Vet stocks them. -
I think that's a brilliant response - they just got a gold star in my books.
-
I've had to do it before. Broke my heart and my heart breaks all over again just thinking about it. It changed the way I looked at my dogs, I felt like they had broken the golden rule. Im not saying whether that's right or wrong but it is how I felt. At the time I was pushed by the majority of DOL'ers to rehome rather than pts but I couldn't rehome any dogs who I knew had killed another - especially with the ferocity in which it was done. I opted to pts. And I would do it again too. Thinking of you Dobesrock. It's not something you will ever get over, but I hope with time that the pain eases for you all.

Keep us posted SL - Ollie dog is a DOL Legend

Mine were in the car yesterday for about an hour. They loved it.

Fair enough - but they still might go looking for trouble, which is my point.
