  1. I've used these for bull breeds with terrific success - I can safely say it's the best tool I've ever used to stop a dog pulling. http://www.kumalongshop.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=28
  2. Are you absolutely positive it's not a K9 PRO?
  3. I've got one like that from Ruthless Leather - although I don't know if they were making them back then??
  4. I am really particular about colour and coat type but like Ruby Star mentioned, I am happy to wait until the right dog comes along - both in colour and temp. I will not consider another colour if it's a colour I don't like even if the breeder feels the temp would suit me perfectly. I would rather wait. Mollipop, I love Goldies but there is no way I would have a 'white' one. I prefer how they used to look, rich and golden.
  5. She's gorgeous! Don't see nearly enough Pekes.
  6. I'm sorry if this offends, and I'm sure your dog is a fantastic dog in terms of his personality and behaviour - but I have yet to see a fantastic blue male in terms of the breed standard. Could you post a photo of him? Be warned , only post the photo if you are happy for him to be critiqued by experienced breeders. I have the most gorgeous Stafford in the world and think the world would be a better place if there were more like her :D but I know she's not a good example of the breed so she's desexed. She's still the best dog ever. Good luck and welcome to the forum!!
  7. Kids are fifty bazillion times harder than raising a dog. :D
  8. Sorry Sheena, I thought you were giving it to her for the other dog. I think her best bet is to take the BH ingredients in to her vet for them to look through. I think she'll find she'll still need to feed the SD though, for the meantime anyway. It's brilliant stuff, I've needed it for cats before. Thankfully my cat is bright enough to pee in the bathtub when something is going on, so I can see the blood and know straight away. Apparently lots of cats do this which I think is pretty clever
  9. If the dog has crystals in its urine it is on the Science diet to keep its urine at a specific pH. This may be alkaline OR acidic depending on the composition of the crystals in question. She should not be changing the diet without consulting with her vet as even just feeding treats can disrupt the pH levels with the consequence of the crystals turning to stones and blocking the urethra Agreed. It's got nothing to do with one food being better than the other. If I were you Sheena I would give her a call asap and advise her not to feed the BH. While Black Hawk is a good maintenance food it does not replace the value/importance of any vet prescribed SD range. Her $105 on SD is well spent when she considers the alternative
  10. I think everyone, that you're simply flogging a dead Horse. The OP hasn't been back for some time....
  11. I'm sorry to say this and I'm sure you don't want to hear it but I think 2 female Staffs at the same time is a recipe for disaster. I would give some thought to rehoming one of them asap and concentrate on the one you have, then down the track bring in another male. Two Stafford bitches are generally hard to juggle in the most experienced of homes and they have not had a good start and now you are also faced with raising them both together - very difficult for someone to raise pups in pairs.
  12. After I typed this and I went and lit the fire and got my dog on my lap. I realised while my Shih Tzu was pawing at me that I did get her when my daughter was about 2 and the dog is a rescue. In saying that though, she has bitten my daughter a few times (altho' not in a long time as it's managed well and my daughter is now well trained ) and when we were playing this evening her dewclaw got caught in my knitted jumper, she screamed and tried to bite me in a frenzy  It took some time to unhook her without getting bitten . Just be careful.
  13. You can also contact Cav breeders who may have an older pup available through the main page of this web site. It's a lovely idea to rescue an older dog but with a 2 yr old at home I would pass at this time and look for something where you know the dogs history.
  14. I wouldn't leave a heated bed on while out. While water bottles are great at the time, they're useless by 3am when the house gets to its coldest.
  15. That's about on the money that price. Is it for the dog in your avatar? Being a braccy breed I would be more concerned about the vet than the price. I don't believe that fluids are necessary for a quick castrate so if it's an option, save your money.
  16. Seriously Uncle Albers at this stage is like feeding MacDonalds. Just because he might gain weight on it it doesn't mean it's good for him. He poos a lot already, a cheap dog food 'aint going to fix that!
  17. With that attitude how do you expect your dogs health to improve? Your dog is suffering. You are feeding him a poor quality diet and he is not thriving on it. You have two threads full of helpful information and you don't seem to be absorbing any advice. I hope you can lose the flippant attitude and do what is right by your dog. Wishing you all the best with his recovery.
  18. I wouldn't be mucking around with low fat filler foods, he needs proteins and good fat to gain weight. You could also try him on a quality puppy kibble. One of my dogs struggles to maintain weight but she's doing well on the Black Hawk. Try Lamb flaps, chicken wings etc etc. Ditch the Supercoat and tinned stuff, terrible food. Lab X Border Collie is much more on the money than Newfy.
  19. Don't see any Newfie in him at all. You need to feed him a better quality diet, I would also be feeding him smaller meals three times a day until he starts to gain weight. Firstly I woudl worm him, then I'd take him to the vet to rule out any medical issues. He looks gorgeous
  20. When I read the title I thought it was your niece who had passed. Somewhat relieved but still saddened to hear about her dog. Terribly unfair for a little girl
  21. I'm sorry STJ's but I suspect this is why he was going so cheap to begin with. If he was that good with chooks, and at his age, he would be a valuable working dog and not an 'open to offers' type scenario. I hope you find some useful info here
