  1. I still bawl over my heart dog and it's been about 4 years. I went with a different breed not long after she passed. I don't think there is any good or bad time to get a new pup, it's when you are ready, but just because you are still crying for you last dog it doesn't mean you don't have room in your life for a new dog to love. Just make sure you don't compare (which is why I went with a different breed). Saints are still my favourite breed but I won't get another until I know in my heart that the time is right. Good luck, I grew up with Keeshonds - lovey fluffy bums :D
  2. Brilliant news!!! Am I the only one who thinks it's sus? Who steals Rottweilers when most people are very cautious of them? It's almost as if the thieves knew what good temps the girls have prior to stealing them.... ?
  3. Wow! I am insanely envious of anyone who can draw (and sing). They are really good
  4. Yep, you'll always get the blame - I've been there before. Now I don't let any other dogs near mine at all when we're out, I shoo the other dog away by any means possible, before it gets too close.
  5. Yeh, I think that's the way to do it when you have a few
  6. Teebs, it gets cheaper with the more pets you insure. I couldn't afford to cover all of mine either but know I would conjure up the money if something drastic happened. I would have to pay out more on insurance than I would on vet bills if I covered all of mine but they're all pretty healthy (touch wood, lol) I have just two of my dogs insured and I think the second dog is only about $17 per month. I've never made a claim and have been paying the insurance for years. I get tempted to not bother but then worry I'm jinxing myself and that one of the dogs will need mahor surgery the next week after cancelling, lol. Going back a few years though I did decide to insure two of my dogs and not my third as she was a lot older and then she did both cruciates
  7. Someone I know has started walking his dogs with what he calls his 'staffy stick'. He's said he's sick and tired of being rushed by bull breed mixes and now starts swinging as soon as one comes near him. Drastic, but I can see where he's coming from in regards to protecting his dogs at all costs.
  8. It's a shame that they aren't more open, I am a firm believer having seen success many times with diet change.
  9. She must be beside herself. Fingers crossed for a safe return.
  10. It's a discussion forum. If you don't want opinions best not to post on here.
  11. Permoxin, but I wash my dogs regularly so it wasn't much extra effort. Just make sure you don't miss one bit of the dog when pouring it, rubbing it all over.. I used this for years in a tick area when money was a bit tight.
  12. I would try something grain free. Or if you have the time try BARF. I've had dogs with problem ears before and the BARF has really helped, although it doesn't suit all dogs. I know a lot of people on here have great success with Canidae but I haven't tried it personally. I agree, but I'm hard pushed to find a vet who believes diet has anything to do with yeasty ears. You're right though vet should always be first call, but a bit of research on the side is a good thing.
  13. Dogs will be dogs, love it!
  14. Sorry about your kitty cat, hope they are okay. I've used Proban on cats before with great success.
  15. There is a DOL'er who makes decals. I think maybe Great Dane Girl?? Do a search in Market Place.
  16. I pulled one off a dog last week and I'm in the Southern Highlands
  17. Lots of allergy dogs are prone to staph infections, i would not discount allergies at this point. If he has an allergy to beef its highly likely he could have other allergies. My dog is atopic and has food allergies Yep, wouldn't surprise me if it stemmed from an allergy. Esme had a bit of mange as a pup around her eyes. The vet wanted to treat it quite aggressively, I rang Ready Set Go in a panic who said to basically leave it and two weeks later it was gone and has not ever come back.
  18. Comfortis has worked great for all of my cats, no side effects with any of them. Started it pretty much when the product was released on suggestion of my vet when other products efficacy diminished. Have had two other vet clinics also be a fan of the product for cats, although always being aware that it is off label use. I give them a half (or quarter?)of the smallest dose - not 100% positive off the top of my head, can check the packet though I am pretty sure I use half or quarter the small dog dose depending on which cat (mine vary in size a lot). I don't think I've ever used it for the dogs.
  19. I can always tell when a dog is entire by their smell. Breeds often smell different to other breeds as well.
  20. The bumps sound more like an allergy than mites.
  21. Sorry SL, I thought it odd coming from you - I should have known better!
  22. Sorry, but I think that's an awful idea and would not ever talk to a friend if they did that to me. Aztec, as a friend all you should do is offer support not go behind your friends back and interfere - I'm sure you wouldn't do that though. I've had grooming clients where I've been tempted to contact breeders and let them know about 'stuff' but it's not my business so I leave it alone.
  23. I feel sorry for this poor mother, everyone has strung her up yet sometimes we just make bad decisions. The pup will be fine, she hasn't dumped in in the pound. Better to rehome than stuck in a yard with no attention. I've rehomed a pup, best thing I ever did. She moved in with my neighbours who dote on her more than I ever could. She's probably feeling very embarrassed and too afraid to contact the breeder. I agree the breeder morally should be told, but it's her pup, her decision.
