Licensing owners and making them pass a test or do a course to ensure they are aware of the basics of animal ownership and management. I They do that to get your breeding prefix but there are still many, many dodgy breeders out there. I don't think it would help much

What Is Your Favourite Time Of Day With Your Dog/s?

General public don't give a rats about that - if anything it puts another notch of fear in every mothers mind. All I see from that clip are dogs that can clear average fencing, love to grab things with their jaws as if their lives depended on it and are fit enough to outrun any human and knock a child to the ground. Sure, 2 of my own dogs could do all those things, but you need to think how non doggy people think if you want to save your breed. Being 'agile and athletic' does not make a dog safe. I never stated that! And general public needs to stop condemning things they know nothing about! Again I see absolutely nothing wrong In that vid You're seeing what you want to see, I'm sitting on the other side of the fence and clearly do not see the same So agree to disagree as they say And therein lies the problem. I viewed it with an open mind and you are viewing it with a biased one. I don't 'see what I want to see' at all. I own a bull breed and can still see that that video does the breed no favours at all.

Oh God that made me cringe. That video does the breed no favours with it's heavy metal, head banging music and proving just how powerful and tenacious bull breeds are. The small handful of clips showing Pits doing obedience are good but the rest I couldn't even finish it the bogan music was grinding in to my brain.

With all due respect, whilst the injury risk can be greater with a bigger dog, the little Maltese dogs or 'SWF' are still capable of causing injury. What happens if a 'small breed' bites an elderly person with fragile skin? or rushes at an elderly person causing them to trip? a friends grandmother ended up in hospital from a fall caused by a neighbours loose Maltese...the dog took this lady by surprise and she lost her footing. Exactly. My grandmother had all the skin on her leg ripped of by the claws of her Chi X. It's not as if they can pull out the back of someones head though. It's not even a comparison.

Thanks for that. We've decided to go see it this Sat. Will take a box of tissues too by the sound of it.

Pitbulls are NOT the dogs most commonly associated with human deaths. Do your homework. Let me check the statistics to see how many people died from an attack by a Beagle last year... While you're at it, check what breeds top the bite stats. Seems to me that reference to statistics might shatter a few illusions for you. But how many people really register their dogs as Pitbulls? I know they're all over the Northern Beaches in Sydney but according to council only a small handful actually live there. It will get harder and harder to police plus other breeds will start to cop the heat as people label their pitbull type as a Mastiff X Lab etc etc.

Well until we know more your assumption that the little girls were out wandering unsupervised is just that. I know plenty of intact dogs who don't leave their yard, not a lot of training and would NOT maul a child to their death. It is not acceptable from any dog no matter its background or upbringing.

I am starting to agree. That poor poor little girl. My heart goes out to her parents.

Errr no. I am not, I would not ever talk to someone like that. I am sorry you've been maliciously PM'd though, I don't know why people do that. It's cowardly and whoever sent it should have been prepared to state their opinion publicly. Ignore it.

I think it was incredibly wrong. Not to mention unnecessary, vulgar and incredibly offensive. What's wrong with biting your tongue and singing out in a cheery voice " it's alright, he's older than he looks and full vaccinated'' and keep walking - is that really so hard? I've had certain breeds where I get the same comment 100 times over, it can get annoying but people are only trying to think of the dogs welfare or be friendly. I feel sorry for that poor woman who is probably quite shaken by being sworn at so aggressively.

Bradley was told the ingredients were the same which gave him no reason to introduce the newly packaged food gradually.

If you get the Nobivac Im pretty sure it's 10 weeks.

I actually think your last post was very rude A small handful of people disagreed with your methods and yet you imply it was most of the members on here. Your last post only paints you in a bad light, no one else. I've been through the whole screaming Stafford in a crate thing so I felt your frustration. I even had to send one of mine off to Ready Set Go for 'boot camp crate training' or otherwise I was going to strangle her. They can be a very difficult breed, I love them but I will not ever have another. Besides, the best one in the world is already on my couch

:D Congratulations then! He sounds like a real sweetheart - worth the wait!

What are their temperaments like?

For some reason I had pictured them to look quite different to that. They almost look like a Bloodhound X GSP.

When The Time Comes How Do You Tell Your Child?
Clyde replied to casowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
DeeLee, I've never forgiven my parents for using the 'gone to a farm' story. You would be surprised how well kids cope. I have fibbed to Grace about why a dog died but have always been truthful about it dying. Whenever we lose an animal here Grace now likes to go and look at the body and ask all sorts of questions. She is at the opposite end and if anything, a bit nonchalant about death after we had a spate of duck and chicken losses. -

I'm one for crating a puppy at night. Teaches them to hang on and you know that they aren't up to mischief - size shouldn't make a difference as crates are available for giant breeds. As PP said though, you will need to make sure puppy doesn't feel too hot. Dont forget photos

Pal tinned food mixed with weetbix and milk usually gets things moving. Good luck! -
You're not doing the Shelter any favours Hogwartz. Here's a DOL'er who regularly donates food to them and you're being rude and laying some blame for the Shelters struggle on them.
