Yep and Yep.

I doubt people will get arrested for having extra dogs. Fined and cautioned sure, but arrested - not worth their time.

A lovely tribute Beth. Take care of yourself *hugs*

It all seems pretty reasonable to me. I think though, seeing as you are really happy with your vet, that it is worth a little extra for peice of mind rather than walking away and considering a second opinion elsewhere.

Oh I'm so sorry about Elly. I bet she was a real character. Take care of yourself

Call Denise from PAWS. Even if there isn't a Pug on her web site she will know if she has any coming in so you get dibs before the dog even makes it on the website (pending home approval of course). She could even already have some in care that aren't on the site yet.

Forget about Frontline unless you use the spray. Advantix or Proban. I am sorry about your dog I lost two dogs to ticks, it leaves you feeling quite vulnerable to your garden. There are sprays you can buy at Bunnings, my parents have success with this.

Hypothetically, if it was a less than favourable breed int he publics eyes, then I would be a little concerned. In fact I would report it myself in order to get in first and demonstrate that I was not at fault. I wouldn't be too complacent just because the guy was drunk.

Yes Chris is right. Well they used to anyway - Petbarn were (are?) distributors for Conmurrra now called Hydrobaths Australia.

Unless the other dog is extra tiny I would be surprised if it dies from puncture wounds. I have seen some horrible attacks and wounds with the dog surviving. although perhaps in your community if it didn't receive proper care then perhaps a nasty infection will set in. Only you can make the decision about your dogs but why not just keep him on a lead? Give your circumstances I would not be inclined to euthanise unless legalities become an issue - which doesn't sound likely!

I have lived on the land most of my life and been involved with properties that run in excess of 10,000 sheep. To say that you are sick of farmers complaining, you have no idea the amount of time and money spent on trying to maintain and ensure the safety of their livestock. Many smaller properties use alpacas successfully. But there are a number of reasons that maremma are not used on larger properties, one is that bait is laid around certain times of the year (mainly lambing time) and the dogs will eat it, another is the maremma being protective can often be a problem when trying to muster, there are many more. Pet dogs are the main problem with losses on sheep properties more than foxes and dingoes. Pet dogs kill and maul for fun, dingoes and foxes mainly kill for food. I could go on and on on this subject. I have a real hate for people that let their pet dogs run loose in their neighbourhood/area. GReat post Legacee, so true.

Thelma and Louise perhaps Stolz will have some fun naming these ones :D

Congratulations Mum has such a lovely face, very strong but still very feminine and gentle looking.

Do you mind my asking how much the whole process cost? PM if you prefer, I just think it would be handy for other people stumbling across this thread. I'm not sending any dogs to China either, I am just curious as my neighbour is trying to negotiate getting a dog to the UK and his first quote was 3.5 K The dogs is being sold for $450

Getting A Dog And Stuck On Breeds, Advice Appreciated
Clyde replied to Ozone's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think you've misunderstood. The OP is not interested in traditional guarding breeds as yes, she will more than likely be the main caregiver of the dog - her mother is the person interested in GSD's however I repeat the OP is not interested in GSD's so you wouldn't have to worry about whether you would sell her one or not. -
I keep reading it as Hydro... lucky dogs.

She's stated a few times that her mother is experienced with GSD's. The OP is not interested in these sorts of breeds. -
Where do you live? You should come and meet my dogs especially Esme, she has converted soooo many people. Even my parents were very anti SBT and then I got Esme. My mother now kissy coos any staffy types she sees in the street Ruthless has met her too, she is just an all round awesome dog. One of my friends the other day who is anti dog found herself defending the breed when other parents at a BBQ were saying how viscous they all are. My friend said she just couldn't imagine it and told them all that true to type SBT's are lovely. I have trained her well.

Getting A Dog And Stuck On Breeds, Advice Appreciated

Aussie Shepherd  I think it ticks all your boxes. Coated, not too crazy, big enough to make you feel safe but not big and boofy to make you feel like you can't control them. Look in to their temperament and see what you think. -
My friend has a Cocker who, while gorgeous, does not stop all day - she is soooo active and is now about 5 yrs old! Maybe you just got a super active one? I would rethink the hour walk too.

Recommendation Fo Dog Grooming Salon In Canberra?
Clyde replied to Canberra Skye's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh no what a shame - my worst nightmare. -
I started collating photos for the EDBA many moons ago when this was attempted before. I have so many photos but they're all on my old computer. Will see if I can retrieve them, they will have to be posted in order to receive permission again though.

Yep and Yep. I wouldn't even think twice.

She looks like a Greyhound so I would have thought more along those lines.
