  1. I was just reading their page and other posts were disappearing before my eyes If they truly believe they are running their group the right way they should be able to stand beside anything they've said and have the courage to stand up to those that don't agree with them. The fact that they're deleting stuff shows me that they are far from knowledgeable enough nor ethical enough to be involved in saving lives - and in this case risking them. Poor Sid, I hope he is okay Huga. If you need to take him to the vet I would look in to your legal rights at having any bills passed on to the group in question, plus also report them to the RSPCA and to their local council.
  2. If you read slowly and pretend he is a Russian gangster he makes perfect sense
  3. I would do this today just to see whether or not this is credible option for you or not. I think it's best to know exactly what your options are rather than going over possibilities. Good luck either way - no shame in rehoming a dog if you can longer provide them with what they need (provided you are honest to any potential homes)
  4. I usually find it the opposite!
  5. I only ever have floor coverings which will easily fit in the machine. I think they're really dirty, so only my daughters bedroom has a few small rugs. I have a thing for disinfecting floors
  6. Good news is, that's why he squeals, cause it IS a zappy collar!!!!! Um, okay it was just a suggestion - you didn't say you are already using one. Oh sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude at all!! Sorry No that's okay, I misinterpreted what you said, sorry - easily done on the internet!
  7. Wahls are great. I'm a groomer and have 3 pairs with no problems at all. I only ever use the slower speed so you might save some money if you get the single speeds.
  8. It looks nothing like a Maremma, I agree!!

  10. A lot of breeders request emails and state on their blurbs not to phone.
  11. Oh No There's two Mrs D's. Try a zappy collar, the citronella ones are commonly useless. Welcome :D
  12. I owned 2 labs and they were not laid back at all. In fact they were very athletic and driven and a sight to behold when they dived into water to do their job I agree. 'Laid back' and 'Lab' rarely goes in the same sentence. I come across a lot of DD's with work, I like or dislike them based on their individual merits not on their breeds - however strangely I don't believe I've ever come across a 'Labradoodle' that I've liked - something about crossing those two that just doesn't work. I've fallen for plenty of other DD's though.
  13. You're right Miranda, it is a mutt - but is there any problem with being forward thinking? Hashing out an issue which apparently plagues the pure bred world?
  14. A lot of people don't like the more traditional Poodle look. I can't even count how many times I have told people that I can style their future Poodle to look like an Oodle if that's the look they like. I never win though, they always go for the Oodle - mainly because they don't want a 'woosey' dog or hubby refuses to get a Poodle. If only they knew a real Poodle!! I even know of people who thought that the Poodles were born with a clean face. TBH I love nothing more than a black mini Poodle, left shaggy and a natural face - talk about cute! I must admit though, there is something about the eyes of a Cav X Poodle that melt my heart I only have a problem with breeding dogs which aren't health tested.
  15. I agree. It seems some people believe buyers need to crawl and grovel in order to get a pup. I'd rather shop elsewhere. Breeders put a lot of time and effort in to raising the litter and get very attached to all the babies. We want what is best for them. These are our extended family. We have every right to check buyers..it is not different to someone wanting to foster or adopt a child..even rent a house - however in the case of dogs, once they are sold the fate of that pup is purely in the hands of the new owner. I absolutely agree that you should! There is 'normal' interrogation then there is the superior attitude that a lot of breeders have (not necessarily on here). As a groomer I hand out Dogzonline cards to clients for puppies but 99% end up going to pet shops as breeders have been rude, unhelpful and made my clients feel uncomfortable. I recently had one friend search for a pup, every single breeder was so rude (those that even bothered getting back to her) that she ended up with a different breed altogether - this was after I threatened to kill her if she bought BYB (which she very nearly did). This is not intended as breeder bashing, as I know they are just regular people and thus all sorts of personalities - but a lot do need to be more helpful in order to encourage Joe Public to go registered.
  16. No, it can even withstand freezing temperatures.

  18. Oh please, let's not let the facts get in the way of a dramatic post. I was the only one who said anything, there wasn't a group of people such as you have implied. You were also certainly not 'shouted down', there was no anger or yelling in what I said.
  19. It's not 'unnecessary' the OP asked a genuine question.
  20. Therein lies the problems. If they just dropped the silly name they'd be in with a shot for being taken seriously and set apart from the cross breeding frenzy.
  21. I'd keep her, and there is no way I would desex her before 18 months. Good luck
  22. People can't work for the love of it. I agree $80 is tipping the steep end of a swf clip but if the market allows for it, why not? I've kept my swf price at $60 for years when I know I could have put it up $5 or so. I know pockets in Sydney though where you wouldn't find the same job for less than $80. You should be thankful that they phoned to let you know of the price adjustment . A lot of groomers would just do it then hit you up with the difference without giving you the option. $85 is cheap for a cat. It's normally $100 plus in the area I worked. I can remember when I first started grooming, the high end price for a swf was $40
