  1. Why not look at PUL (Polyurethane Laminate) - the stuff they make nappy covers out of. You could buy a plain white batch of PUL from www.gbau.com.au (probably need 2m). If you don't like the white, you could use a light fabric over the top, or dye it funky (or buy a different colour to start with). Have it sewn up in the pjs pattern that someone creates, and bobs yer uncle. PUL is a laminated fabric - you'd probably want a poly (the white), because it would be lighter and less likely to wick the oil. It's waterproof and has *some* limited ability to breath. It's got stretch, but not too much, so is easy and good for movement. I think it would be your best bet for what you want it to do. And it's a premade and ready to go fabric, so you don't need to do extra layers. It can be a little tricky to sew, so you would want someone experienced in sewing. Though seams are not that hard, just when the Foot touches the laminate..
  2. Yup, Inkscape is free and very similar, and you can do vector art there too.. Here are some tutorials http://speckyboy.com/2009/04/28/35-tutoria...using-inkscape/ and here is the inkscape link http://www.inkscape.org/
  3. Mr Bojangles though that's probably been taken before!
  4. My aunt has Vinyl - fake timber floor boards. They are in pieces that slot together. They are fantastic! I'd go that way if that was a choice!
  5. I've done a bit of vector art.. most intensive was a brochure for a Cloth Nappy business. though have done some logos too. I haven't done much recently though - I tend to use inkscape now that I am on a mac (and can't afford creative suite).
  6. not sure how many letters are allowed in a full name so might be too long but.. For Sparky: Electric Dreams Sparks Fly Fifteen Candles Eelektrycitti For Shadow: Midnight Run Moonshadow Man in the Moon Darker shade of Black
  7. You obviously missed the stand that had Deep Fried Cheesecake on a stick. I don't like cheesecake much, but OMG. it was GOOOOOOD
  8. When I have the Little Bit with me out and about I hate it when there are dogs and Little Bit asks the owner if she can pat the dog. She ALWAYS asks (she is 4), but owners always say (to me), oh, Fluffy is GREAT with Kids. Is fine with kids. Would never hurt a kid. I say to them, "I don't care, I am teaching her dog etiquette. What happens if your dog decided he didn't like kids today, or if it was a different non-kid friendly dog?" I have taught Little Bit never to pat a dog whose owner is NOT there. I have taught Little Bit never to pat a dog directly on the head. I have taught Little Bit to always ask permission I have taught Little Bit to never put her face near a dog's (though she often tries to kiss them and i have to remind her!) She is four, and it's still a learning curve, but we reinforce training her each and every dog she meets. If she gets it wrong, she has to stop what she is doing before continuing. I believe it is my duty as a PARENT to train my child about dog etiquette. But kids are not taught respect for dogs of any sort nowadays. I just hate it when people say "oh, but my dog is fine" yes, he might be, but it is not up to you to decide if the risk is worth it or not. I'll stop ranting about bad parenting now
  9. What is it about the large dogs that you like? What is it about the Boston's that made you look at them (considering they are small) Your list of dogs are very contradictory, perhaps you should do a ranking list about the behaviour/look/feel/attitudes etc that you want/need/don't want/could tolerate, so that you have a more definitive list to work against. It sounds to me you actually want a small dog personality, in a large dog body. Grey's might be your best option for that, don't stop looking at the smaller breeds just because they are not big dogs, you know?
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Dog_...ating_in_France this might help...?
  11. Hi fifi and Arolf! We were looking at Aariel on Pet Rescue (through Victorian Dog Rescue Group). My aunt needs to get her fence finished though before she submits the application. He's pulling on my heartstrings lots, but this is my aunt's choice. She's not very good a the internet though, and struggles with the computer, and so I am doing some of the leg work. Mika is very much missed. I still feel terrible for the new owners that the new dog they paid to get from NSW to VIC (they paid for me to fly her to them to teach them about Mika's hand signals, and show her some of her deafness - mika's mum is also deaf I have since found out). and then for her to die tragically. And they have kidlets like me. Other news - no other children yet. Trying, but no succeeding. 3 years of heartache, but am sure I will get there in the end. We just moved house, and we are looking at getting a bunny soon. Tara was on the news the other night, if any one saw channel 9 NSW. She is adorable. Here is the footage. Ignore me http://news.ninemsn.com.au/video.aspx?vide...a7-c88bd68cbd5d I breed good kids Other than that, life has been throwing us curve balls, but we will get there.
  12. I was just referring to the fact that dogs in Logan area are more likely to be deemed a dangerous dog than others. It was an off handed comment.
  13. They are all the same. No need to paint them with different brushes, they all like to get money from free advertising when they can. I've been gone from DOL for years and still remember CLifford, but he could have easily have been from QLD - except he would have been deemed a dangerous dog by Logan before he took a second breath.
  14. I tried to sneak in, but was spotted, so thought I should do a proper "HELLO!" post. I'm helping my Aunt find a dog, and there was only one place to come for info - DOL! So, I am back for a short period of time. A quick update for those that know me: I made the very hard decision last year to rehome Mika as I believed our living situation was not fair to her. I found the most amazing home for her and she slotted in perfectly. Lots and Lots of tears handing her over and lots of photo updates. Then one day I get the call. Mika's new family had made the decision to have her put to sleep after she sustained a severe heart attack and drugs were not relieving the arrhythmia on the heart. The neighbours had found her in distress and had rush her to the vet on behalf of her new owners. All care was taken to try and get her back to normal, but she did not respond to the medication, and so was gently sent over the bridge. Both her new family, and her old family, wept tears of sadness at her passing. She died just after he 6th birthday. It is believed the pneumonia she got as a pup (caught via KC on a Plane trip from Vic to NSW), caused distress on the heart that was not apparent through stethoscope listening. I would never have rehomed her if she was apparently unwell. Her absence is very much noted.
  15. Rest assured pix, Gilbie will be decked out in his tux and waiting for her at the bridge. all my love to you sweetheart.
  16. Getting a new pet would be great, but not it's not part of our plans in the near future, we have a few other things to work out. She seems to have settled today. Thanks everyone.
  17. I should have mentioned... she barks when we are home too... but when we go out it is worse We are going on holidays soon and she'll have a friend to play with, but when we come back she'll be alone again. It's just hitting a nerve at the moment I guess...
  18. Ok Folks... I need some suggestions on helping Mika. She's not stopped barking since Gilbert left. I can understand it - really I can..... But when we leave the house at 7 in the morning, the last thing we need is her barking constantly as we live in Terrace Housing. Ideas welcomed. Ta. Kx
  19. Thankyou everyone for your posts of support and well wishes.... I am sure he is happy and bouncing around. He's definately missed.
  20. Age: Old, Very Very Old... With Us - Three Years. June 2004 to June 27, 2007
  21. I just have to say that this thread has been a wealth of information. I am not sure if people have read elsewhere, but Mika is in the middle of treatment for allergies... I had not thought about goat meat - so might try that next... she reacted to the roo too much (not so much scratching, but digestion wise - it was too strong). Does anyone have images of the rashes that their dogs come up in with a flare up? I would be interested in seeing the difference between the yeast and the staf infections. I know that these can often appear very similar. Mika has no problems with her ears at all... but we keep them pretty dry and clear. Her licking spots are between her toes, base of the tail/back, her entire belly and down the back legs. Anywhere she scratched, she'd nick the skin and an infection would start. We are treating for mange, but tests came back negative (we are treating for everything all at once regardless). She is on pred, but it has not worked like last time and she's still scratching (albeit minor compared to a week ago)... This whole allergy thing is frustrating. Our next step will be the blood tests or the needle tests...
  22. I looked at that one yesterday, but unfortunately rice is one of the number one ingredients - and I think it has chicken in it as well (at least one of the fish ones do)... thankyou all for your help though
  23. I had not even thought of Rabbit!! That's a good one to consider. Thanks!
