Yeah well .... seeing as I'm also thinking along the lines of musical bands, Elvis' song "Devil in Disguise" springs to mind :rolleyes: He's doing well though. Slept 7 hours straight through last night. Is going to the toilet on command (and sometimes not on command ). In fact, I'm noting that he sometimes goes twice in the one sitting (so to speak) - I think that's so he can get an extra food treat!!! I just asked 'little man' to bark twice if he liked the name "Mandela". And he did!!! (Actually, he barked another half dozen times after that, but , so he can't count yet . He's only a baby after all. ) I don't know why I'm not fretting about a name. I think it will just come to me. I'm meeting up with my sister for dinner and drinks (to wet puppy's head - metaphorically speaking of course) on Thursday night. I think a few drinks under my belt will see me naming him that night . ETA: In typical RR style, he has found the ducted heating vents. Tony Thank you, Tony. "Little Man" certainly has the 'determination' part down pat. :rolleyes: ETA: I love the words you used to describe Mr. Mandela (the person). I know KI ..... and it's something I even tell others. But this stuffs me right up because NONE of the names I've thought of for him are of one syllable. Except for yesterday, when "s#@t" formed a good part of his name (after copping a razor sharp puppy tooth to the back of my knee ;) ). I'm sure you'll have a ball with him! ;) As far as names, all of my dogs have had 2 sylables in their names and I've never had an issue with training - Ella is a top scoring obedience dog and I don't think it would matter if I called her ella or something with 10 sylables - she'd probably still do the work!! About the name - kelpieI - I dont think ridgys really care how many syllables are in their names - they can ignore one just as easily as two, or three :p , in fact mine is quite proficient at ignoring everything that comes out of my mouth - anything from Goose, to Zola and all the other names in between . I am very honoured that news of my puppy has brought you out of the woodwork and into this thread :rofl:. News today is that I have settled on a name for my little man and yes, I'm going with : MANDELA :rolleyes: "Del" for short (or as his recall .... whatever). We had a big night last night, meeting Monty the Bearded Collie (who was a grumpy bum and wasn't up to 'kids' ..... preferred to treat Mandela as though he simply wasn't there, but he did get better as the night progressed) and Nooshka the Keeshond (who was nice and neutral). Mandela coped with everything in confident style. Loved the cuddles he got from my sister and flat mate and had tonnes of photo's taken by flat mate with new whizzbang camera. He fell asleep exhausted on one of the 'big dog' beds (which made him look so tiny), slept all the way home in the car and then again right throughout the night until 10 am this morning!!! Man of my own heart . Today we might go visit Robbo's Pet Barn so he can meet more people and so I can fit him for some PJ's, as typically RR, he feels the cold a lot. HG ..... Actually, I think it would be fun to bring him up for a bit of socialisation with your sheepies . I think herding is out of the question though ..... He'll probably climb up and snuggle into their woolly coats for the warmth. But I take it I have an invitation for when the time is right????? Even if it's just to say 'hello' and meet everyone?? Our RR girl is Honeycreek Lady Cosworth, call name Sierra after the cars Sierra Cosworth. The breeder asked us what we had in mind and as we are Ford obsessed it was either that or Falcon!! I must admit I do miss the squishy face photos, but at 6 months Sierra has almost grown out of her wrinkles. They do hate the cold dont they! Sierra wont sleep unless she is firmly wrapped in her blanky, she gets quite vocal if she isnt!! Good luck with everything training wise.....RR's are terrors!!
