Snotty Nose

Hi everyone,

my 14 month old Boxer has a snotty nose with the occasional strings of mucus running out. Should I be worried about it or would it be a cold type thing. He is usually snuffly (typical boxer) but not with anything coming out.

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers Kim

Hi kim21

Might be nothing to worry about, but I'd get it checked by a vet.

It could be a grass seed or something caught.

I always think it's better to be over cautious.

Don't want to scare you, but I had a similar problem earlier this year, turned out to be Nasal Aspergillosis(most common in dogs with longer snouts than your boxer though)

Ended up costing me $$$$!!

definitely get it checked, I had a foster dog with a snotty nose. There are two main causes, one is allergies and the other is a fungal problem. She had a biopsy in the end and hers turned out to be an allergy, she blew snot everywhere - I'd come home to find it lodged on the wall or hanging off the sofa. Thought I'd never rehome her but found someone that it didn't worry!!

If it had been the fungal problem then that is a very serious issue. Best get this checked by the vet. If it is an allergy, I'd recommend looking at natural therapies to assist.
