oh dear alex. I am thinking something like that will happen to me at our first show, maybe I shouldn't of entered baby sweepstakes, atleast in her class there will be very few entries, if she isn't the only one.

Hunterhound, the forcast for the weekend is a few showers and chance of a thunderstorm... at this stage if it's not too bad I'll be taking Willow out on the Sunday just for socialisation, she isn't entered, but will see what happens though.

Oh no, Jess!!!! Sorry to hear that. :p You are welcome to share ours anytime.

Aw thanks for the offer  ...And, I would take you up on it, but with the squishyness in the toy ring at HB I always get nervous visiting you guys cause last time we went up there we got 'yelled' at for making someones dogs pipe up

:) I hope you told them to mind their own freakin' business! How rude, we all know that toys never shut up anyway!

GoldenWei, everybody expects babies to be silly in their class and in baby sweepstakes, we always enter sweepies because its good practice for them, can't say Peach really enjoyed the time it took 45 minutes though! even I was bored :cheer:

i agree I hope you told them to stick that comment up their butts, I had comments when I got Kite but shes is better behaved than 90% of the toy dogs, you dont hear from her and rarely see her so they can get stuffed!

Alot of the toy people are full of their own self importannce (obviously not the crew we sit with thou LOL), good example is the lady who told me off cause she couldnt see, not my fault, perhaps if she got off her arse and stood ring side she would be able to see, besides she had already very rudely blocked our veiw with her and her friends trolleys right infront of our gazebo!

Dotty is right sweepies are fantastic for learning not just for us but for the dogs!

Lincoln had his first show, was fussy about having his teeth looked at and wanted to play instead of stack but gaited beautifuly. However he is teething right now and being a little monster about having them looked at so I am thinking of working on training the behaviour with a clicker until it improves before I enter him in a show again.

I also managed to run into the ring ropes

I wouldnt put off entering him in shows because he doesnt like his teeth being done, aslong as the judge can get a quick look it will be fine and the best way for him to get over it is to have lots of people do it, if you go to show training get everyone to look at them, if you go to obedience get people to do it there, if you take him for walks and people want to pat him (adul;ts only no kids) ask if they would mind looking in his mouth! And dont forget lots of treats for letting people do it!

Hi there,

had my first time in the ring handling someone else's puppy just recently..

(in order)

1. Almost missed my call

2. Couldn't get the stack right

3. She kept sitting down

4. Found the sausage in my hand completely uninteresting.

5. My pants kept falling down!!! :)

6. Owner had to take over for me. ;)

Oh deary deary me! I can look back and laugh now but it was quite embarrassing at the time! I have officially popped my show handling cherry.. and not without my share of dramas LOL.

:D At least you can look back and laugh! Sounds like you enjoyed yourself despite all of the above. I almost missed sweepies at my very first show, and also had someone take over from me at one show due to my appalling performance.

Anyone whose dog can't handle seeing a dog that is a bit different needs to get out and socialise it more!

Unfortunately toys seem to react badly to bigger dogs. It's not about socialization, it's more about their Napoleon Syndromes going into overdrive at the sight of a big dog :dancingelephant::laugh::laugh: The best examples of this are Chihuahuas. They don't seem to realise that they're breakfast and it seems the bigger the dog, the more noise they make!!!

My min pins happily share space with Maremmas, greyhounds and Aussies because they have to. Not to say they won't ever bark at other people's dogs (big and small) when crated, because they will - but that's because one in particular (not Chester) is a dominant and territorial bugger, not because they are small. I also expect to be able to walk my min pin around any of the other ring areas without him being barked at because he's small. I am more than happy to have big dogs visit my gazebo! In fact, it's looking like Chester won't be able to show this month at all so I'll be set up in the toy ring with only a Maremma and an Aussie. :D

Jess was going to Pm you saw Leo has a profile on the DOL homepages now, looks good only in it you said hes won 5 BIG's, now did you mean he has taken 5 puppy in groups? BPIG? or were some of those Minor in groups? MPIG? I would just fix that bit and clarify it abit cause some a$$y people might get pissy about it because technically he hasnt won a BIG on class in groups if you get what I'm saying! (althou he is lovely i'm sure ecventually he will crack the big time with an ingroup or maybe even and in show!)

Clouseau has a new profile on there too if anyone wants to check him out LOL! I never know what to right on the blurby bits LOL!

Yay about the car, Jess. We all knew Leo was everything he should be - he is an excellent giant pug (sorry, I meant bullmastiff :D). You do a great job with him, Jess and we are all very proud of both of you!

I'll have to check out these profiles!!

Chester is on the mend, just not show-ring ready yet!

here I am LOL

rich keeps his profile up to date and does his pointscore.

You need to do his pointscore with his BOB's class in groups ect!

if you have any troubles PM as rich is home and I will be online bling lead and grooming product shopping :D

Leo is super cool - and seems very at home in the toy ring! Last time at hillsborough it was the terriers going nuts we were on the terrier side of the toy ring. Its been good for toby being around leo, kite, peach, vivi and aurea - he was alot less phased last time in sweepies being in with big dogs which I guess is no different to being in an BIS or Class in show line up - dogs of all shapes and sizes

Speaking of bling leads, Ros tells me that she will be having a bling lead stall set up at Lakes (which I think is on next weekend, please correct me if I'm wrong) with ALL her bling leads on there, so don't forget to bring your money with you. She has some gorgeous creations and they're well worthwhile. :D

What is Clouseau's ped name? It would take me ages to get through the hundreds of pugs and I can't be bothered just searching for you name :(

And thanks Deb, you def know how to make me feel good ;) ....The car is a Mazda Tribute...They any good?! LOL. It was a vreeze to drive though I loved it.

Bec I will prob PM you later cause there is a few things I can't get my head around, even though it's simple

Ugh, I forgot to enter the Lakes show..Why do I leave everything so late?! I thought I had longer.

What dates the lakes shows? Just ring or email the sec and see if you can get a latye entry in unless thats the show next weekend in which case that wont happen ;)

Yep looks like you fixed it good!

Heres a link to clouseaus profile, http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=46895

Hot tip thou (and this hot tip will prove I spend way too much time on DOL) I like to know whats happening in all different breeds ect so when i go to the home page down the bottom in the right had corner there are two links one says "Latest show results" and the other says "latest dog profiles" i am constantly looking to see what new profiles there are which is how I found Leo's

love the piccys of him but next show if we remeber we should get some good stacked piccys of him! It will help you see where you can improve ect with his stacking! I try and take stacked piccys of kite every few weeks to get an idea of how she is developing! :(
