When To Stop Furminating?

I tried one once, on a Rotti coat, and all it did was tear the hair. I do not need to thin or strip the coat, so I will not use one on a Rotti again. A medium comb, moulting comb or porcupine bristle brush removes all the loose and dead coat. Occasionally a slicker if I am more of a hurry.

How strange, I use a Furminator on my Rottie and I don't know how I lived without it, her coat is much smoother and shinier. I do it for about 15-20 minutes, about once or twice a week, more in summer and I use it along with a rubber curry comb to get the loose hair out. She also sheds much less now.
