They generally advise where they have judged, what breeds/groups they hold licences for etc. If your friend isn''t on there I'd suggest to start a profile. It is an invitation though! This is called soliciting appointments and is seriously AGAINST the rules!!!! That would NOT be a good thing for her to do at all!!! I am a licensed judge in several fields, so am very aware of the rules pertaining to the soliciting of appointments]. I have also served as a committee member of a group club and as a president of a breed specific club and any judge who did what you proposed would have her profilie go in the bin and would stand the possibility of being reported to their kennel club. The English system is set up so that you have very few people who are officially sanctioned to award CCs in the UK for more than a handful of breeds. If the judge can demonstrate sufficient experience with open shows the ANKC might (or might not) agree that they can award CCs for those breeds here, but its a hassle of a process. If the ANKC does approve it then you get people reporting back results on international lists and the English will say "that judge isn't approved to award CC's for Lithuanian Goat Catching Retrievers!!!" and more hassle ensues. So all that often restricts them to breed speciality appointments. However even if there are breed clubs for that breed it's not easy. It's expensive to get them out here, and UK judges in many breeds have a specific reputation with respect to what they are looking for. If the people who are influential in giving invitations for breed specialities don't like what UK judges have a reputation for putting up, then no appointments will happen. I'd love to bring a UK judge out here but getting one who could get ANKC approval to judge enough breeds for our group to be economically viable pretty much puts it in the "too hard basket". That is ok - not your fault :D No, putting your profile on a judges internet is not the same thing as it is like a CV for prospective clubs to look at. They will either like the profile or not and will either decide or not decide for themselves whether or not to contact that judge. It is when the judge contacts a specific club or person on the committee of that club, or tries to do it through a third party ie yourself contacting a club and say something like - I have this friend who would really like to come out and judge for you so how about it [or something like that] then that is a problem. Anyone can be asked to judge so long as they are on the relevant breed judges list. These lists fall into several categories from the learner judge who has yet to get some classes right up to the judge who is passed to give tickets. It can take several years or more to get up to being able to give tickets in one breed. There are also several different tests we have to pass before we can move up thelist, along with having judged a set number of the breed at open shows and champ shows without CC's for the breed.
