Congratulations, you must have worked hard to get a fenced park for dogs.

Dogs and their owners, are on the lowest rung of the totem pole where councils are concerned.

Hope the funds come thru asap.

Please post photos when the area is created.

Thanks everyone, as you might be able to tell we are just a little bit excited :laugh::o

We have been petitioning for a while now, first report from council apposed the proposal to fence the park.

The dog handler for penrith council said it could be an area that people would just leave there dogs and go LOL

But with the power of people we got it approved.................this will be a great park for western Sydney

Don't quite no how to sleep tonight

Thanks again

As long as it is a decent size

The one in St Clair is stupid

They have the huge reserve that they could of fenced and

instead you get this piddly little fenced area

Great work though. Really grreat work

yes the one at Jamison Park will be fully fenced

it is approx 4 -5 times larger than the one at st clair

it will have a double gate entry and exit

it has water

a bench seat

and about 3 or 4 mature trees for shade inside the fenced area and dozens of more just outside so plenty of shade

Good on you! I am up visiting in Brisbane and there is an excellent example of a large fenced off one in Bardon which I've been going to. It sounds similiar with the double gates etc. Also at this one they have lots of park benches for the humans around the periphery which is great. Congratulations

Boronia Park at St Marys is off leash dog as well and under Penrith Council

As we live in st Marys we use it but we wouldnt go there at night

and it isnt fenced. It could be utilised so much more if it was fenced

They do have the fenced cricket oval that you arent suppose to use for the dogs as

most people in the area dont pick up the pooh and the poor kids in cricket season

get hammered by dog crap

I live very close to the St Clair one and usually walk through the park but never used the fenced off area. This is mainly due to the size and that there are so many lazy owners out there that don't clean up after their own dog, this doesn't help when the 2 bag dispensers are always empty.

I ventured to Jamison park today to find 2 big rolls of bags chained to the fence. The area looks great but again lazy owners not cleaning up after their dog is one of the big downfalls.

Does anyone have contacts on who to speak to from the council in relation to maintaining these parks ?

I'd just call Penrith Council and ask who you need to speak to.

Hurrah for thread resurrection!
