I love:

* that my dog loves his day out

* seeing, nursing and playing with all the new baby puppies :laugh:

* seeing and talking about breeds you'd otherwise only see in books

* catching up with friends, cheering their wins and commiserating their losses

* retail therapy (I hear Sunbury on the Melbourne cup weekend is very good)

* visiting country towns and meeting the locals

* seeing the best my breeds of choice have to offer and learning more about them.

* RED trifle. :)

* forgot to add - winning - when it happens.

* Learning - about my breed, other breeds, how to handle, how to groom - there is so much to learn but it's great

* Socialising and meeting new people

* Laughing at people who take showing way too seriously

* Travelling around

* My dogs showing well - win or lose

* People realising that Bull Terriers are actually not vicious, child-eating monsters that are going to rip their leg off and chew it up if they come within 1 metre

* Winning - it's nice to do it sometimes

* Handling other dogs - I've had some awesome experiences and learnt a lot from this

* Going to Ag Shows :laugh:

* LEARNING -

More about my breed

How to handle better

Rules (official or otherwise) around the ring

About other breeds that I would not otherwise see

* SHARING -

Food

Stories

* SOCIALISING

Need I say more? :laugh:

* Working Out What Different Judges Look For In Your Breed

Oh - and of course there's the actual showing of your dog on any given day - isn't that why we go! LOL

* My dog actually running nicely around the ring - not spinning, bum-tucking, rolling, back-chatting

* Catching up with long distance friends

* The peace of driving long distance with someone who doesn't need to fill the silences

* The atmosphere when camping - everyone is friendly

* When soemone tells me I did a good job in the ring (win or lose)

Being with people as mad about their dogs as I am about mine

Making some fantastic new friends, both here and interstate

Seeing different breeds and learning about them, and getting cuddles

Handling some amazing dogs

Seeing lovely examples of my own breed and others

Talking and learning more about my breed with those much more knowledgable than I am

ETA: Learning more about grooming and getting it right with each different dog

Learning more about the faults and values in my own dogs

Being a team with my dog in the ring, I love showing my girls!

A baby's first show, be it my own or someone elses! :laugh:

Showing my girls off :)

When my girls show their butts off, win or lose :eek:

Teaching me how to fold a gazebo top properly. :laugh:

Forgot one - meeting DOLers!!

:eek::) :) :) I was just thinking about your gazebo when I replied in the gazebo thread.

I did not realize you had crossed the guy ropes. Great idea also less for people to trip over. ;)

And definitely meeting DOLers.

I love that dog showing has taught me to be independant... I can drive a ute, tow a trailer, go camping and travel around the country all by myself (OH rarely comes to shows)... I probably wouldn't have been brave enough to do these things by myself if it weren't for dog showing :thumbsup:

Other than that, I love enjoying a day out with my dogs and friends. Win or lose, we always have fun.

I love getting out and about and having a hobby that I'm passionate about

I love hanging out with like minded dog nerds who don't look at me like I've grown another head.

I love hanging out in the losers tent and celebrating a great day out.

I love it when my girl does well and we can hang out in the not-losers tent and celebrate a great day out.

I love spending the day with my baby girl.

I love the awesome company that I get at shows and making up random stories about chickens going to court and an appropriate composition of a 'jury of peers' given breed and size differences.

I love being able to have several-hour long in depth discussions about future plans and get into the fine detail of it all.

I love playing spot the DOLer

And most of all, I love my kids :thumbsup:

I love the driving and seeing different sites

I love seeing new breeds up close and personal

I love handling new dogs and breeds I've never handled before

I love sharing/chatting/solicalising

Learning new stuff

I really love having a well-behaved dog so I can swan over the misbehaving ones (well, they get to swan that they actually win, so it's swings and roundabouts LOL)

I love getting as much as possible out of as little gear as possible ('cos i don't love the packing and unpacking)

I love having a hobby that covers more than one species
