Chequeredblackdog Posted March 12, 2012 Author Share Posted March 12, 2012 Well Reggie went back to the vet today (moved tomorrow's appoint up) lump definitely grew over the weekend The vet aspirated it, and managed to get a fair bit of watery red fluid. She took it off to look at it (which took AGES) and the verdict is that there are some 'strange round cells' that she couldnt identify. So lump has been drained off and slides have been sent away..... should get results in a couple of days, sigh..... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But I have trouble with being forward with 'professionals that know best' (USUALLY they do) ... The vet originally had a quick look then said that there wasn't much point aspirating it yet I don't know if she really thought that, she did seem to think it would go away on it's own. I did ask again when she was winding up the consult. I DID think it was a bit funny about the 'introducing infection etc' bit. I've found they (the surgery) seem to be more cautious with offering procedures. More a wait-and-see attitude from a lot of them. When my BC Sadie ruptured a cruciate ligament last year, another vet(same practice) saw her. Did diagnose it, gave the option the surgery could be done, but would be expensive. And that there was NO rush to 'rush into it'. * Note- BC went to other vet in town who specialises in orthopedic stuff, she was booked in the fortnight after. ETA- my spelling is atrocious I try to be confident and forward but so far been shot down in flames by the vet.. I know how you feel it's hard when you don't know enough to be firm lol .. I would assume they're just covering their asses because i'm sure there's some people who'd sue them for misdiagnosis if they said it was just a haematoma and it didn't end up being one at all. I'm just happy its nothing to worry about. :) I never even registered the cost until my parents heard the price and started whinging > 'all that money to find out nothing' ..... (not that they paid or anything) Mr Reggie pants is priceless to me, so any cost (I feel) is totally worth it! Persephone- wish me luck for the 'hoon-stopping'! I think I'd have to chop off all four of his legs...and I dont think even that would slow him down for long! We spent over $20,000 in the six years after he was diagnosed.. It adds up so quickly. Sadly we all have people in our lives who just don't see our dogs the way we do..
