No, you're probably right but I'm glad there's another 12+ months to do some research and work our what would work, this all only happened last month, plenty of time to have a change of heart.

We have a trip to the Melbourne show almost entirely planned for checking out dogs (and showbags. Duh)

I've never been so proud of my dog for being a grotty pig and doubt I ever will again. Haha.

Good idea of yours to "lend" them your dog. Sounds like he did a wonderful job. If they do end up with a pup in the future you can at least try to convince them to get a rescue or a pup from a decent breeder that will provide them with lots of breed info and ongoing support. Also you might be able to get them interested in obedience or agility or another doggy activity suited to their dog. If you can get them while they are still in the puppy love mode they may get hooked and end up spending a lot of time with it. You can only hope anyway :)

She's just so stubborn and determined that she wants that sort of dog. I've asked what interests her and she says 'looks and size'. I might chat to her on the weekend and try your suggestions, I was thinking a Grey might suit. This has been playing on my mind for days.

I certainly don't want to ruin her fun, I just can't imagine she knows how much work and how much her life will change.

If she is stubborn and determined, you are wasting your breath..

Worst case scenario it will be the dog that pays the ultimate price, like they always do with selfish owners (may end up being rehomed).

On the upside, she may take to dog ownership like a duck to water.. She certainly wouldn't be the first person to change her life to fit a dog into it :)
