He grew up with a lovely corgi, Astro, who lived to the age of 19 :) We have not had a dog in 14 years and now our children are a little older, I'd love to surprise him with a pup. I'm a Cardi owner, but I may be able to point you towards some breeders. Have you checked out the breeders listed on the breed pages here on Dogzonline? I don't know enough about Corgis to know the difference between Pembroke or cardigan sorry. :) I've only seen photos of Astro, he had a black back, white chest and tan and black face. Liz R Posted October 4, 2014 Author Share Posted October 4, 2014 Hi Esky the Husky, my husband used to breed smooth fox terriers so I have experience with socialising, grooming and showing pups, I used to own German shepherds, so I have obedience training experience too. :) We have waited to get a dog as we both believe that it is unfair to own an animal if you do not have the time, energy and resources to give to that animal. :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Here's a hint that might work for you. Show your husband this youtube clip The Corgi in that clip won Best of Breed in Crufts 2013. Liz, not trying to influence you either way... but our family owned a Cardigan Corgi when we were kids (tri-colour, too!). Named Biddy, she was the best all-round family dog ever, so adaptable. Sensible & loyal and loving. She'd be happy pottering around the house with my mother, or playing in the garden with us kids, or going out on the Bay with my father on his boat with his fishing mates. In fact, she became famous on the water... charter boat skippers going by, would yell...'Gi'day, Biddy! Best thing is to research both Pembrokes & Cardigan and perhaps hear other experiences from owners of both. ADDED: That picture of Astro is gorgeous... just look at the expression on the face! RuralPug Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Astro looks like a Pembroke to me in that photo, although the ears are quite hard to make out. Best of luck with your search. Cleo's Corgwyn Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 I'd say Astro was probably a Pembroke, but you can get red pointed tri-colours in Cardigans too, so you might want to check out both breeds and see what suits you best. I think Fiona at Dwyfor was planning a Blue Merle and Tri colour litter later this year. We view him on saturday, my husband is getting suspicious :laugh: He is only 5 weeks old, so we won't bring him home until is 8 weeks old, vaccinated, wormed and micro chipped.
