Homeless Man's Dog

When paramedics in Brazil raced a homeless man to the hospital after he had an epileptic seizure, they never expected his 4-legged besty Spike to insist so adamantly on coming along for the ride. The dog was even allowed to stay by the side of his human throughout the duration of their stint in the emergency room (and thankfully, the man has since fully recuperated).

Lovely story especially for today. There are some good people in the world. I remember the Ash Wednesday bushfires in Melbourne. An elderly man who had lost his home and all his possessions struggled into the rescue centre in Emerald with his dog and the nurses told him the dog wasn't allowed in for health reasons. An understanding doctor over-ruled them and the dog was allowed to stay. That dog would have meant so much to him.

It's good that some medical people understand.

What a beautiful story! Reminds me of a visit to Melbourne couple of years ago.I was in the city shopping ,a homeless man ,out-to- lunch in a alleyway.I went up in case he was needed help,as he looked unconscious ,anyway he was wrapped in a blanket ,with his dog ,a GSD draped accross him, protecting him.I put a couple of dollars in his "donation tin" got a quiet thank you from the blanket and a big lick from his guardian.Must admit I had tears to watch the loyalty of the dog ,and I often think about it. :)
