"Many dogs will eat Antinol right from your hand or straight from the bowl along with their regular meal. If your dog eats around the SoftGel, simply cut it open and mix it in with the food" Taken from this website, so they can do either. https://vic.pharmacy/product/antinol-dogs Hope that helps.
mackiemad Posted June 3 · Report post I just put it in with Max's dinner. Atm he is getting some rehydrated k9 naturals and some savour life kibble and he just gobbles it up - which for a non food motivated for is pretty good! Fwiw it has made a huge difference to max. He's been on most of the arthritis supplements, including green lip mussel, and it hadn't made much of a difference due to an old injury site and the arthritis there but antinol has really helped him be a lot more comfortable. You have to do a loading dose and then go per the instructions Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm looking at switching Justice to Antinol once his 4cyte runs out. Do you happen to know if you'd still need to do the loading dose if a dog was being switched from 4cyte one day to Antinol the next?
mackiemad Posted June 3 · Report post Snook I did do the loading dose because the 4cyte wasn't effective enough. Haven't had cause to regret it

Justice has been noticeably better on 4cyte but now that it's much colder, I've noticed he's looking a but stiffer again when getting up. I'll go with doing the loading dose first then. Dogsfevr Posted June 6 · Report post Mind you you can use Lyprinol from Chemist warehouse same drug ,safe for dogs & far cheaper & more tablets .Most dog sports people have swapped to this

It looks like the same company makes both that and Antinol, and Lyprinol comes in 50mg or 100mg capsules, but I can't find info on how many mg are in one Antinol capsule to convert the recommended dosage? tdierikx Posted June 6 · Report post https://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2011/307121/ Section 6 of the above discusses some dosage rates and testing done on dogs with arthritis @Snook I'm thinking the active ingredient in Antinol is a closely guarded secret at this stage, therefore comparing it to other green-lipped mussel extracts may not necessarily give similar results. tdierikx Posted June 6 · Report post https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2722199/ Another study using green-lipped mussel extract on dogs - with amounts given listed... T.
Snook Posted June 6 (edited) · Report post Thanks @tdierikx Yeah, I'm not sure using those guidelines would necessarily be right as even for Justice, that would be 4 1/2 of the 100mg capsules a day, which seems like a lot, when the Antinol dosage once the loading period is finished is 2 capsules per day. I'm not sure if I misunderstood the stuff I read when I was googling but it sounded like Antinol is the pet brand name of Lyprinol, not a different type of green-lipped mussel extract? Edited June 6 by Snook
tdierikx Posted June 6 · Report post @Snook... from what I understand, Antinol's active ingredient is extracted differently to other green-lipped mussel formulas... something about this process apparently makes the difference as to it's efficacy over other formulas. Dogsfevr Posted June 7 · Report post The person & vets who are recommending the product suggest the loading dose if it suits your dog then 1 or 2 tablets ,the same as antinol. They did suggest if dog was having a bad run you can increase to 4 but that is not considered norm & they generally only suggested that prior to a competition One is a sports vet who has asked many questions & simply can't see any reason to not use the Lyprinol especially given its ease & value especially for a multi dog household or large breeds. I have used both on a large dog .I give 1 tablet . I brought the antinol from the website as it was far cheaper but it is pricey if doing a number of dogs
Snook Posted June 7 · Report post @Dogsfevr Did you use the 50mgcapsules or the double dose 100mg capsules? These are the two lyprinol options at Chemist Warehouse.. https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/search/go?w=Lyprinol
