when you say "farm" do you mean a farm where they have cows or sheep and the dogs have lots of room to run around and get looked after?

not a "puppy farm"

I assume when you said about papers for the pups, you meant pedigrees through the canine council and thats why she didnt have papers for the pups?

I am not a breeder but from what i have been told is you need to have a kennel prefix to be able to sell the pups with papers, someone correct me if im wrong please

Just needed to clear things up with the last post m575

Mindura

Seperating them for time during the day will benefit both of them, and try to give each one some one on one attention, so that they learn to bond with you and simply do not develop a pack dog mentilty with each other.

Sorry I skipped over this post, this is important m575 and puts it in a nutshell.

Lovely photos by the way, a tricolour and a tan and white, both very pretty. Just remember that they usually live quite a long time, small terriers, up to 15yrs or more, so set up a lifestyle with them now that you will be able to maintain in the long term.

Sweet little girls.

lol...NO not a puppy farm. A moo farm. The two parents are free to run around anywhere on the farm and have a pretty big (10m +?) run during the night and the pups, I'm pretty sure, were kept inside and taken out into an enclosure during the day. I'm not sure about the paper thingy :s all's I know is that she didn't have them put could have. Maybe it was for the adults? No idea! but she assured me that they were pure bred. The reason they actually got rid of these pups wasnt because they didnt want them or anythign like that but there was a medical reason and they couldnt take care of them properly after and operation.

They are cute... love the one with the huge ball!!!

Leo is cool!!!!

As for puppy preschool, they would get lots of socialisation... the ten week puppy school could be the next step...

What area are you in? Maybe someone then, would be able to recommend somewhere great...

thankyou  they are pretty bad photos as most of them were taken with my left hand! lol We are setting up a lifestyle around the dogs slowly. Planning when we have to go for walks and what not. We are prepared to grow up with them and yeah puppy school all the way! We are in Hoppers Crossing. A more well know region area thingy is Werribee or western suburbs

Your girls are beautiful!!

In regards to the playing and training, I have a dog and bitch (JRT) here from the same litter. When they play it sounds like they are killing each other! I do have to watch them carefully (they are 14 months) as it occasionally does turn a little too serious.

As already advised, I too recommend you start seperating them from time to time especially when it comes to training. My two have bonded more to each other than to me (my fault completly) and this does make training very difficult. JRT's are smart little buggers and they are usually easy to train (with food  ), but at the moment I am having trouble getting them to even notice I am around when they are together.

Best of luck with the training, its never too early to start. Don't wait until they are old enough to go to Puppy school, start now at home! One puppy at a time for 5 minutes is all they need.

Maybee when they are old enough to go to puppy school you could just take one at a time, or, if you sister/mum can take one make sure you don't stay together all the time. Let them explore and meet other dogs on their own. ...Good luck!

lol....nah... I just believe that if I trained them from a young age, not in terms of "Sit" "Stay" but trained them to behave and control their fighting, then maybe they'll get along better when they are older. I know that they will still have fights here and there but they will be more controled than if I just let them constantly fight and mis-behave while the are young. See were I'm comming from?

M575, yes, I see where you are coming from. They are only 2 months old, puppies are naturally active at that age, and JRT puppies even more so. Playing together is not misebehaving, they need to have that time to get to know each other and their boundaries with each other. If one of them is hurt, believe me, you will know it, the noise will peirce your ear drums.

Try them with a rubber ball to play with, see how they go with that. Also you can give them a Kong, one each with a bit of something tasty inside it. JRT's are very determined dogs, that is in the breeding, and they will play with the Kong until they have got every last bit of peanut butter, or the treats out. This way they will also get used to having something each, related to food, in the same room. Also pat them while they are trying to get the food out of the Kong. (check what is suitable for pups).

Please consider getting your 2 girls desexed by the age of 6 months, this will help to prevent any hormone related tension between them. It won't stop the natural dominance of the breed though. If you wait for them to go on heat you will have hell to pay, please don't even consider it.

I think you are on the right track with wanting to bring in structure to their day, perhaps write out a little program from them and check in the Training Section of DOL for some help. You can have Free Play Time, then Nap Time, then One on One Training with each, then Play time With a Toy, and so on. Training at this stage would be more like 5 minutes to start with, learn to get the dogs trust with easy tasks and rewards like the Sit command.

lol...Yeah, so far I have checked one vet and they said $165 for desexing but I heard that that is a but high and there are better prices (although i want it done properly!)..there is NO way I am not desexing them, especialy because I'm pretty sure that there is a make JR further down the court :| lol...and the blood...*barf* anyhoo, my mum said that caramel (my one) has already picked up the sit command  and yeah. Im not trying to stop them from playing but im just trying to control it a bit, if that makes sense? so it doesnt get TOO out of hand.

$165 for desexing a female dog is very cheap where I come from. Don't quibble over $20, just try and find the best vet, one that specialises in small domestic animals is best.

Please post more photos from time to time to show their progress, they will grow very fast at that age. Also let your mum know about the Dogzonline forum, just in case she has any questions too.

This is a bit off topic but I have a kitten (foster) and a pup (foster failure) and they worry me at times with their play.

Puppy knows "leave it" and backs off and the darn kitten will go in and attack her from behind to restart the game

To ME it looks/sounds like the kitten is being hurt, apparently not though, they are both perfectly intact and remain great mates :)

ETA - This post if for reassurance to the OP, not attention seeking from me me me ME ME ME ME !!!!!

A puppy will usually learn quite quickly that the pain of a needle sharp claw piercing the skin is not worth bothering the cat more than what it wants to be bothered.

Both pups and kittens will play fight. Keep an eye on them and always allow an escape hatch for your kitten where the dog can't get to. Also make sure they have thier own separate sleeping quarters.

Photos, we want photos, pleeese!

Caramel and Fudge are sssooooooooooooooo cute! They remind me of my little girl when she was that age. THey are so very determined as someone has already mentioned.

Don't let them get away with ANYTHING cause they learn damn quick that they got away with it once so they will be able to get away with it again!!!!!!

Mitchi is being spayed today and including blood works it is $170, ao i don't think that that is expensive at all. In fact i was expecting a bill of $200+ for it.
