Shiny Coat, What A Dream.
JulesP replied to OZ Grooming World's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I like Proplan Salmon dry food for a shiny coat. The pants and tail are often a bit more wiry than the coat hair on a bordr. -

Laura Derrett used a similar exercise to teach start line stays in the foundation course. -
No I don't mind! If I went and told my friends about my HT they would all look at me very blankly!

Cute video and pics! Brock really enjoyed the video!

Good luck for your trial Dova! This was my first time at a herding trial too. I went to do 2 HIC tests and when I passed the first one ended up doing the 2 HTs as well. Was a bit of a shock to the system but I am glad I had a go. There was a great atmosphere at the trial. Much nicer than any other sport I have competed in! - Dressage, horse showing and obedience. I also found it less restrictive rule wise! So easy for the handler to cause a fail in obedience (using a double signal, talking to dog etc).

Our trial was today and passed her HIC & 2 HTs! So HT title!! :p She was a good girl, she is much better at it then me, rofl. Only had one stuck in the corner moment and I ended up sending her around the other way which got her moving. Lots of training needed before I do PT! She really loves it! The weather was quite nasty but at the finish she was still trying to get in the pen with the sheep!!

Poppy went to a herding comp today and passed her HIC & 2 HTs! So she got her HT title! woo hoooooooo It was not a good day weather wise but she isn't bothered by anything if sheepies are around.

When Do You Pull Out Of A Comp?
JulesP replied to JulesP's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Is herding. Will not be in the ring for long but I don't have an easy drive to get to KCC park. Through the hills. -

Great pics!! -
We have talked about when to pull out of a comp because of the heat but what about this time of year?? Tomorrow is 14 degrees, hail, rain & thunder!!! Do you soldier on regardless or do you have a cut off when you pull out?

Thanks Caffy. Will have a look now. She does play but not in a super enthusiastic manner. Watched a good sending game on Moe Strenfel's Foundation Training vid that I will work on. The work on the entry into the poles gave me a nice angled entry into a tunnel tonight, so that was good. She was a crack up on the seesaw too (have just started on all the equipment), it has like she was trying to make as much noise as possible. -
CK is very cute Reddii! He is faster than Brock! lol

She is driving into the first set of poles quite nicely but is then putting the brakes on. If I move and support her, then she keeps going. Was ok with 4 poles but now I am at 6 the distance from me is too great for her. She doesn't really value toys, not as bad as her brother but not a crazy toy dog. Not that crazy about food, as in works for it but not in a nutty way. We do food refusal very easily in obedience. -
They are both heaps quicker then the last lot of videos I saw of them. Good job!

I have no forward drive! I have broken border collies! They do very good tight turns though. Even a bait plate doesn't encourage fast forward movement, just means that they might get there in the end. They are related btw and the siblings that I know are also quiet, well behaved dogs and by the sounds of it dad is a quiet dog too. Make great pets! -

Well it was going sooo well! Has all turned to crap later this week. I think the problem is that Poppy knows that the rewards are coming from me and even through the rewards are thrown down the reward line she is hesitating and not driving through as she doesn't want to go too far from me. Ideas? -
The Melbourne Dog Centre bath ends up being pretty much the same price as the BARF/Fido ones because the freight is cheaper. The guy at MDC didn't think I needed a twin tub bath though which had me a bit bewildered as I will not have a hot tap for rinsing.

Yeah! Congrats!

Yeah! Sounds good! What comp are you going to?? Mine is next week, yikes. I am just doing an instinct test too. I am on the Yahoo herding list, that has quite a lot of stuff advertised. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/vicherding/ Dog Vic also has trials listed.

It is made of polyethylene. My mobile dog wash was made of this and got a bit of a hiding and held up well. I like the fact you can get to the pump as well.
-
Have yet to read a complaint from anyone that has a BARF one. The main negatives have been from people that don't have one but don't like the material it is made from.
-
I am going to get a hydrobath, yeah! But I can't decide on which one to get. Have searched on here and read all the threads but am still undecided. Am looking at the BARF ones and the Fido ones. Would like to get one from Vic as that is were I live but haven't had much joy. Advice please!

Ok so you are worried because people might think he is a pit? But you don't know what he is. Croydon has the same policy as Southern so I am just letting you know that. Not making a judgment. You might be better to put him in the Croydon training process, even if you can't get to many classes, as that way people will get to know him. Rather than just going to be tested.

From what you have said he doesn't sound like a happy dog. Does he look happy when he is barking at the things? Or does he look worried? What do you do with Flynn? walking, training etc. What did you do when he was a puppy? i.e. puppy classes. What do you feed him? Where did he come from? farm or show bred Probably needing a more holistic approach then just training to stop him barking.
