I can't believe there are fireworks full stop. So many parts of NSW are burning to the ground and stupid b***dy councils put on fireworks.

That is awful - the poor dogs get so sick and the owners are devastated by their loss. I wonder what is happening?

Hmmm - I don't share your confidence. The same pound released a Shar Pei who they said had probably given birth a few weeks previously. She gave birth to four puppies (in rescue thank goodness) that same night. Anyway, I hope that poor creature is getting all the veterinary attention and care necessary.

Even where I am (near Hornsby) the air is full of fire smell. Hayfever central. All I can think: OMG, these poor people.

Gaznazdiak, I am so sorry to read your story. It is a tragedy you could not have foreseen and I will be signing your petition. Yes! Don't touch them ever ever ever. I think we need to get across the message whenever and wherever we can: Don't give anything to our dogs and cats that comes from China. This, I admit, is going to become more and more difficult as the new government seems hell bent in giving in to all and any demands by "our near neighbours" and that means allowing them to flood our supermarket shelves with dangerous goods.

During the program, my ears pricked up at the sound of this name - I wasn't watching, but did have the television on. Same person used to ring me up threatening legal action because I posted on DOL in somewhat unflattering terms about a rescuer. One time when she rang me spouting the same spiel, I said that she'd said it to me all before and that I was going to hang up the phone. Which I did, hearing as I did so, "B I T C H ." :laugh: :laugh: Point of this little anedote is that it is hard to credit anything people like that say . I would like to have times, dates and locations.

My first two dogs had never been alone. First they had their litter mates and then they had each other. The little girl, Calypso, died young (3 and a half) and the boy was a total and absolute wreck and could not be left alone. I left him with a friend's dogs through the day and if I had to go out on the weekend, I'd race through whatever it was I had to do and when I came home, Nammu would jump into the car leaping all over the seats sniffing and crying. Visitors would get the same treatment. There was an elderly bull terrier in the next block who was madly in love with Calypso and the first time I walked past his yard with just my boy, "Dog" went totally crazy. He was crying and howling and whimpering and throwing himself at the fence. We can't know how they process the absence, but many sure as hell know something has changed forever. I guess Nammu's reaction was so extreme because he'd always had a mate. But I haven't had such an experience since and I now have 10 little urns on my bookcase.

And I will continue to be annoyed with those who judge when they shouldn't and those who take the high moral ground because they don't have dogs with weight/food/medical issues. And with those who make sweeping statements that people who say, "My vet has never said anything about my dog's weight" are liars and/or selectively deaf. Goodness me, people are so judgemental and cruel. Yes, there are stupid people out there who over feed their dogs and give them too many treats, but there are those who don't and still have dogs who could lose a few kilos .... as SAS has discovered. Despite having lots of my own dogs and many fosters and rescues through the door, I've only ever had one dog who was really driven by food and that is Bunter whom I've talked about previously in this thread. All my other dogs have eaten to stay alive and it is nothing for them to miss a couple of feeds. But Bunter would eat 10 meals a day if I put them in front of him. In fact, one morning when he didn't eat all his breakfast, I got such a shock, I started a thread on it. For sure, we can grind out teeth and get cross when we see overweight dogs, but before jumping to conclusions that the people are "ignorant" and liars, perhaps consider that it might be medication and/or inappropriate expression of love, and the people DON'T have a vet who would suggest their dog needs to lose weight.

I am not qualified to make any comments or suggestions as to depth of field, composition, lightness, brightness but I can say: WOW. WOW. WOW!! I think no 2 in your first post was extraordinary .
