"Did someone say Quirky?" she wonders as she watches Danny madly hump his bed . This is becoming an after dinner ritual. Jeune gets very excited too, jumping around him, examining his penis, jumping back with some little squeals. Oh god, I should have a video camera. Can only larf.

Update: I will be putting in another order, Stans Mum, and trying the chicken this time. I will be adventurous and order for a few weeks. Even Gussy is enjoying the Kangaroo Mince and if you have ventured into Cat Chat you will know how concerned I am about trying to keep her weight up. As K'roo Mince is low in calories, I will be trying her with the beef. The dogs seems to be enjoying it. Just so easy to have it delivered to my doorstep and even with the delivery charge, it is not as expensive as the other place. Not that that is really a consideration: all I want is good quality that my dogs and Gussy enjoy. Have you ever tried their Rice Complete High Protein as I'm tempted to give that a try as well. All the Moochers are senior and geriatric. -
Roo jerky ?? Cut his normal meal in half and make up with vegetables.

Dinner time is getting a bit better now that there isn't a breakfast time - LOL. Just a snack so the are very ready for their dinner. Working so far, couple of hiccups, but generally seems to have worked well. As for going to the potty standing on her front legs, she has started doing that with #2 as well when we are out walking. Because she prefers to walk behind me (feet are VERY scary things you know), I quite often don't know she is going until there is a bit of a pull back on her lead . All my dogs have their extremely idiosyncratic walking behaviours and positions ..... poor things need a saint for a mother and I sure ain't that. :D I liken their positions to the positions on a clock: Danny and Bunter walk at 3o'clock but jockying for position to be closest to me. They are walked on short leads, because if they are longer, they get tangled because they have to be close to me. If Bunter's legs, touch the lead, he stops dead and won't walk on until I have removed the offending lead. Myrtie doesn't know the clock exists and strides out ahead leading the way. Should have called her Scout - LOL. Tamar walks at 7o'clock hour hand Jeune walks a 7o'clock minute hand. Jeune always has to be as far out as the lead will allow and beyond any of the other dogs as they move around sniffing and peeing. I have tried all different lengths of lead with Jeune and if I try to bring her closer and make her walk faster, I end up dragging her. Nothing and no amount of cajoling or treats have ever made her change her walking habit. The longest I went once, in terms of shorter lead and walking at a natural pace, was 20 minutes, virtually dragging her the whole way. As the walk is for their enjoyment (they don't need the exercise, get enough at home), I have given in - LOL.

Oh lordy, I think of starting a thread like this just about everyday. So many dogs, so many quirks. I think I'll just read others for the time being, otherwise I wouldn't know where to stop. I had to laugh at the dogs who "flea" their human. I don't have that. I think the funniest "quirky" at the moment is Myrtie. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/198210-miss-myrtie-has-joined-the-moochers-as-a-foster-baby/page__p__4600077__fromsearch__1#entry4600077

Oh, good. Do keep us updated

I think we all to warm to a dog or a person who just gets on with it, despite the odds. Charlie was this sort of little dude ( :) thanks Sarasmum). He was supported by a wonderful couple who ensured he could make the most of his short, previous life. Vi, I hope you continue to regale us with updates of Em and Skeeter. Much love.

Ooooh, I'd love a Reverse Fawn Puglet.

I have 5. I have had up to eight, but that was when I was rescuing and rehoming. It doesn't happen overnight, LOL, creeps up!! I also understand what Rusty&biscuit is saying, but all the different dogs have their own little quirks and needs and you try to satisfy them all. Sometimes, I might walk just one or two together and it feels really strange . . . . . AND EASY !!

It must have been such a fascinating experience not just seeing a movie being shot, but also actually participating.

Beautiful MM. Willow is a stunner

Congratulations! Bit confronting having your dog act in a Rainbow Bridge segment

If you do go down the breeding route, there is a DOLer called Wazzat Xolo who imported and starting breeding the Xoloitzcuintli (yep had to look it up to get it correct  ). I imagine her experience would be invaluable for a first time importer and breeder.

I have to go an google too while we wait for photos of your dog

I love a gal who is a bit OTT with colour . She is gorgeous and reminds me of the Christmas Card that Shar Pei Rescue Queensland put out last year. But they forgot the Tiara - LOL.
-
Oh that's very kind of you! She's a smaller girl but definitely a handful, loves other dogs a little too much! We are still working on her doggy manners :) My "babies" are all in the elderly or geriatric category, with the youngest being 9. While some dogs are puppies all their lives, mine wouldn't be nearly enough fun for her - LOL. From what I've read posted by the Frenchie people on DOL, they are bundles of energy and real characters.

Yes, even years later.

I didn't answer the poll, because it can't be answered one or the other. The answer is that it depends on the dog and you know Jasper best. :) :) I also agree with giving consideration to all of Persephone's variables and add one other: how long is Jasper alone each day. Personally, I think that most dogs (and I agree there are definitely the exceptions) like to have another dog around.

Thanks, LittleMiss. I was going to offer to look after her if she was a smaller breed. Frankly, Just Like Home, sounds wonderful and definitely worth checking out.

What breed is your dog, LittleMissOdie?

I understand your point, Rosetta, but it is something I wouldn't be making a point of until an adoption was pretty well a fait accompli. Of course, if the rescuer's antennae are well developed, a time waster would have been pretty quickly sussed, but I would be a wee bit concerned that an adopter might go in first instead of last with the idea that, well we'll give it a try and if it doesn't work out we can always take "it" back. To have doubts is normal, but to have uppermost in one's mind that the dog can always be returned, doesn't strike me as a healthy attitude. A bit like saying to the marriage celebrant: if the marriage doesn't work we can always get divorced. :) :)
-
LOL - what I was thinking.

Rosetta, any ethical rescue should have that as part of their adoption procedure. When I was rehoming, I always stressed that I didn't care how many years had passed, that if the people ever found themselves in a difficult situation, to ALWAYS let me know. Anyway, most of SOS dogs are in kennels and not in a home situation. Even tiny little dogs . . . . . .
