  1. My guys are about 480gm 2 days after birth, though there are a couple of smaller ones. They seem to grow as you watch!! Love the Dane bubs and the Frenchies.
  2. Congrats on the baby Kelpies and Aussies. My babies born on Sunday are doing well so far and growing fatter as you watch them! PS Does the litter have different birth dates if some are born on the 30th and some on the first??
  3. GR pups arrived today exactly on time. 6 boys and 2 girls born between 6am and 11am this morning. After a few restless nights we are all exhausted and about to pop the champers to celebrate. Note Mum's proud little smirk!!
  4. We are still waiting, waiting... Don't think she will last til Sunday though. Congrats to all the new mums. The babies are looking great, so cute!!
  5. Congratulations to the new baby Beagles and Pugs. I'll definitely have one of those cute pugs. Here is big mamma Molly with 2 weeks to go.
  6. Congratulations to all the new mums. So far on my wish list I'll have 1 Frenchie from Mjosa, 1 blue BC from Risyntira and definitely 1 pug from Lizzy (she looks big enough to have plenty to share). Don't need a Goldie, A2G - though they look so gorgeous. We have 2 weeks to go on Sunday so everything crossed for the safe arrival of babies. Her nipples are huge - hope the bubs have big mouths!
  7. So sorry to hear your news, BB. Fingers crossed for the remaining babies. Hope Mum is okay.
  8. If you're moving out BB, can I move in?? Good luck with the whelping. My girl is due Nov. 29th After missing the last 2 times, this is an unexpected bonus. Everything crossed that she keeps them.
  9. After my girl missing on the last two matings I have some bad news and won't be joining the list for December babies BUT there is good news as well.... she IS PREGNANT this time and due Nov.29th. These babies will be from the late mating I did as suggested by my dog's nose (see previous post). In case you haven't guessed - I'm a little excited!!
  10. I bought my jumps from Airdogs and got a good bag from Aldis. It is for skis so is a bit long but does the job.
  11. No comment!! My girl has missed twice before and I don't want to jinx myself. Just a hypothetical question in case anyone was in this situation: if a bitch was mated on say Wednesday and Thursday as per vet advice after prog. testing and then again on Sunday of that same week (owner insisted on extra mating due to dog at home saying that this was the right time), when would you start counting weeks from? Do you believe science or the good old dog's nose??
  12. I start by standing about half way between the jump and starting peg. When you call from the box run towards the jump with your arm still out in that direction. When the dog is taking the jump, run backwards to starting peg. You can then slowly stay closer to the starting peg. It's hard to explain so hope this makes sense. PS I got my first ever UD pass on Sunday night at NSW State Titles. I'm still smiling!!
  13. Just be careful if your dog has an "independant streak". He could anticipate and go down in the "stand for exam".
  14. Most of the Obedience clubs sell them. You could try your local one.
  15. You could go to an Obedience Trial that has a Gundog Working Test (a comp. that is somewhere between obedience and retrieving). Some of them use game instead of dummies and offer the birds to people to take home after competition. I have a couple in my fridge after the GR Club show yesterday. The Lab. Club are having their show next Sunday, 10th at Erskine Park and they use birds. There are several training days per year for retrieving and they sell dummies.
  16. I discovered yesterday that Plush Puppy now have a stand at Erskine Park. I bought one of their brushes, $30 and it's great for my Golden Retrievers' coats. They also have heaps of other goodies.
  17. I have one of those too! She has PMT and sulks for about 4 weeks, is in season for 3 weeks then weird for another 3 or 4 weeks after. It's no wonder we are having trouble getting her UD title. She is also very lazy and I was thinking of having her Thyroid tested.
  18. Is there any parking available at the Town Hall? I would be nervous about walking about by myself - maybe I could bring a guard dog??
  19. Congratulations and well done to the both of you. It was all very easy afterall. Now on to Novice. You should keep him going while he is "on a roll".
  20. This is a disgusting thought but can we catch worms from the dogs and do any of you regularly worm yourselves?
  21. I am currently writing a book on 1001 ways to fail UD!! I have an evil little bitch that knows UD so well that she can devise ways to fail and hasn't had a pass in years. Once we got right through to the end and were celebrating when the judge decided that we didn't have enough points to go on to the stays. I was EXTREMELY upset!!
  22. Congratulations - I said you could do it. It's really good that you know what to work on now but it was a great score anyway. My boy got another pass the following week and our next trial is this Saturday night. I'm nervous already and trying not to think of the "T" word!
  23. Start teaching him a "drop on recall". You will need it for Open and it always slows them down. Just don't do it too often so that he learns to anticipate and does it when he shouldn't.
